E-learning content creation is not an easy task, but its evaluation is even more complex. In order to evaluate if the content is adequate to the studentspsila needs, it would be helpful to know how the student assimilated the learning content, how he/she reacted to it and the period of time spent on the learning object. Besides, considering the different cognitive features of learning and the possibility of adjusting the didactic content, it could help teacherpsilas evaluation in an available online course. This work describes a monitoring system (Msys) able to track the level of utilization of studentpsilas activities, and presents summarized and comparative results to the teacher and to the student. This paper describes how the MSys tool was created using current standards on digital content construction, defining functional requirements of interface to its development, presenting a proof-of concept and how it could be integrate to online learning systems, providing benefits to the teacherpsilas evaluation.

A three-hole pressure probe with back-flushing,combined with an electrical conduc-tivity probe,was developed to perform the simultaneous measurement of the magnitude and direction of the velocity vector in complex air-water flows,where the flow direction is not known prior to data acquisition. Such situation typically occurs inside and around the rotor of Cross-Flow turbines. A calibration rig was also built aiming at the calibration of the combined probe (both conductivity and three-hole pressure components),placed in a position similar to that adopted for flow measurements in a Cross-Flow turbine rotor. After concluding the combined probe calibration procedure,the probe was tested in the outside region of the turbine rotor. This paper addresses the probe development and calibration,with particular emphasis on the velocity measurements. The experimental results are en-couraging towards the use of the combined probe in complex air-water flows,namely in Cross-Flow turbines.

An effective workload distribution has a prime rule on reducing the total execution time of a parallel application on heterogeneous environments, such as computational grids and heterogeneous clusters. This paper presents two approaches to workload distribution based on analytical models developed to performance prediction of parallel applications, named VRP and VRP-SS. The workload is distributed based on relative performance ratios, obtained by analytical models constructed according to the rules described in the PEMPIs methodology. In the experimental tests we evaluated the strategies and compared them using MPI applications. The results showed the efficiency of our strategies by reducing the total execution time and improving the workload balance.

Setting eyes of people isn't always necessarily on visual cues, in actual buildings. It is necessary to examine the influence of visual cues on motion perception etc., in consideration of temporal length of setting eyes on visual cues. For this purpose, parameters that are directly necessary to estimate a probability of visual motion perception, like length of setting eyes on visual cues, distance between subjects and visual cues etc., are measured in existing buildings. And statistical analysis of the data is done. It was found that length of setting eyes on visual cues is about 7.0s in average, regardless of subjects' age, sex and buildings. Distance between subjects and visual cues is about 2.4m in average.

With the development of living level, people pay much attention to thermal environment. The Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) is the famous index to evaluate the thermal environment, which has been widely used in practice. Air temperature, radiant temperature, humidity and air movement is the four basic environmental parameters. In this paper, it is purposed to look into the actual conditions of indoor thermal environment in summer on residential buildings in Jiaozuo area of Henan Province. Based on the testing data of the four basic environmental parameters about model buildings in summer of 2005, the paper deduces the PMV-PPD and analyses the indoor thermal environment of residential buildings in Jiaozuo. Furthermore, it puts forward some measures to improve the quality of indoor thermal environment. The results can be summarized as follows: (1) With the trend of global warming and urban heat island, the summer climate of Jiaozuo is very hot though it is located at the heating section. Most families low the indoor temperature by air conditioners. The usage of them in dwelling houses is raised.;(2) The high PPD index shows that the dweller is not satisfied with indoor thermal comfort in summer, especially on the noon and at night;(3) Humidity can make strongly affection to predict thermal environment;(4) To improve the indoor thermal environment, some measures can be taken, such as by natural ventilation, shading devices and virescence etc.

The main challenge in designing ground source heat pump (GSHP) systems is finding the optimum size of the ground heat exchangers (GHEs). This paper presents a simulation model to investigate the effect of various design alternatives for the optimal sizing of GHEs. The influences of certain critical parameters on the performance of GHEs are analysed and discussed for various design cases. The analysis shows that GHE size can be reduced to a certain extent by using grout and soil with a higher thermal conductivity, and also by increasing the borehole spacing and shank space, which may reduce drilling costs. This paper demonstrates the usefulness of the simulation model and attendant software as a tool for designing optimal GSHP systems.
