The search for more efficient strategies, cost savings, time optimization and productivity are the main goals of any successful company. Process mining arises in this context and, although it is not a new concept, its expansion and applicability in the market has recently become notorious. Through an extensive set of data recorded over time, it is possible to determine the real state of a company’s processes, allows diagnosing failures and improving the efficiency of these processes. This paper describes a project realized in the scope of process mining, developed in the company Huf Portuguesa. The machines of a production line record thousands of data. In a specific production line, data was collected in a time range, cleaned and processed. Process mining techniques allowed the discovery and analysis of the real state of the production line. All paths were detected, and each path was analyzed individually. The conformity was also analyzed. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Higher Education Institutions are, more than ever, open to innovative practices, and nowadays the triple helix of University, Industry and Government is taking place through the implementation of projects such as "Link Me Up – 1000 Ideias". This project, funded by COMPETE, was created as a network bringing together thirteen Portuguese polytechnic institutes to promote entrepreneurship among students, called talents, in academia. In a multidisciplinary approach, a co-creation team of 4-6 students, working together with organisation partners and using teacher’s innovative practices, explore a future-oriented challenge in order to design solutions, ideas and future scenarios, in an 8-week process that aims to empower students to create their own innovative companies or projects and to help them to be prepared for the transition to the world of work, developing soft skills that are required in our competitive society. This project is linked to another, entitled "Learning based on co-creation processes," funded by POCH, in a partnership with DEMOLA Global, which provides teachers (in this process, they become facilitators) with innovative methodologies that are then operationalised when implementing co-creation challenges. In this study, we aim at presenting the "Link Me Up" project from the point of view of students from the polytechnic institute of viseu and local organisations, by a) reflecting upon the questionnaires applied to students and companies to assess their degree of satisfaction with their participation in the project, identifying key areas enhanced by the experience. Additionally, b) we will look at the reports written by the group of students as they summarise the work developed in partnership with companies throughout eight intensive weeks. The development of technologies, services and products in our increasingly global, interconnected, and digital world implies the training of future professionals capable of solving challenges, embracing diversity, and co-constructing innovative and disruptive scenarios. Higher Education (HE) has been adapting to these times of change and, consequently, the academy has started to open doors to partnerships with local organisations, in synergies that go beyond internships to include research and a modernisation agenda, with clear benefits for all the stakeholders and with positive effects on the national economy. Thus, pedagogical practices need to be updated, and Demola model aims at contributing to innovation processes by fostering academia-industry collaboration. In this study, we will focus on the first edition (January-June 2021) of the project entitled "Learning based on co-creation processes," funded by POCH, developed in a partnership with Demola Global, and in close connection to another project, Link Me Up, integrated in a consortium of 13 polytechnic institutes, including the polytechnic institute of viseu (IPV). Specifically, we will focus on 1) the Demola methodology and tools used by the participants in the Pedagogical Innovation Training course at IPV, viseu, Portugal;2) the questionnaires applied to the team of IPV trainees/facilitators;and 3) the reports they wrote at the end of the process to a) analyse the profile of the teaching staff seeking alternatives to improve their teaching practice;b) assess their perception of the Demola pedagogical innovation course, and c) the implications on their future practices. Our findings reveal that this project that offers pedagogical innovation is highly valued by the participants at IPV, as they feel they are more open: to collaboration within and outside the academia;to use innovative tools and platforms;to acknowledge the need to accept and manage uncertainty and to facilitate societal challenges in multidis

With the emergence of social media and continuous progress and paradigm-shifting breakthroughs in new media, communication professionals need to keep up to date with what consumers are talking about online. Brands tapped into this reality and understood that to influence interactions in this digital landscape, they would need to bring digital influencers into the equation about social media. By recognising that partnerships between beauty brands and digital influencers are a marketing strategy increasingly used by brands and by resorting to Instagram as a research environment, the project presented in this article aimed to understand, through a case study, the impacts that partnerships between the beauty brand Freshly Cosmetics and several digital influencers may have on its followers in Portugal. The study was conducted during the development of a master's dissertation in Applied Communication and, despite focusing on a single brand, enabled the authors to outline the methodology that will be further explored in future work with larger samples of brands. Ten publications from different digital influencers were selected and analysed according to a set of criteria, and a focus group was conducted with ten women who knew the brand under analysis. According to the results obtained, although digital influencers have some impact on decision-making, the participants preferred brands they already knew and their opinions were formed based on research and not on digital influencers' statements. For the participants, feedback from real consumers, external research conducted on their own, and the opinions of experts in the field are responsible for the brand's image in the eye of the consumer. © the authors, 2023. This work attempts to present the process and the results of the content analysis of 27 Bologna Reform Implementation Reports of 8 Portuguese Higher Education Institutions (PHEI) aiming the identification of procedural standards in the adequacy of the Institutions to the various lines of action established by the Bologna’s political-educational Reform and the knowledge of the extent of the adequacy they carried out. Accordingly, the work assumes the following sectioned structure: 1) the objectives set for the study and for the analysis;2) the theoretical framework which supported the analysis;3) the methodological design of the analytical project;4) The main evidences found. Based on the assumptions of the humanistic-interpretative methodology and theoretically indebted to Laurence Bardin’s theoretical conceptualization on the principles and procedural phases involved in content analysis, this work additionally highlighted the advances of the computer-assisted qualitative data analysis movement (CAQDAS) and had NVivo 10.0 software to aid the analysis. The partial results show common trends or patterns and subtle differences in the adequacy undertaken by the various PHEI and in the various teaching subsystems, denoting the focus of their narratives on the impacts experienced in the teaching-learning processes, and the changes which were introduced in their institutional structures. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The use of information technologies by the elderly remains a problem in today's society, which the pandemic problem by COVID-19 has highlighted, notably in the use of fixed and mobile media such as laptops, smartphones and tablets. The fight against info-exclusion and the promotion of digital literacy is not new. Still, we increasingly realize that the elderly population cannot handle the required skill. This electronic computer equipment has now become part of the daily life of the entire population, particularly the adult population, which has found itself confined and isolated, but which needs to keep in touch with family and friends. The present work began during the pandemic, constituting a set of tests that allow assessing how the continued use of information and communication technologies, namely through computers, mobile phones, and tablets with video conferencing support, the use of camera for photo manipulation, memory games, among other applications, increase the dexterity and cognitive ability of the elderly. The presented model establishes the methodology supported in the software development, a tool that makes it possible to test and evaluate the dexterity and the cognitive development and that is available for free use on various platforms. The rapid advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has significantly impacted game design, offering novel ways to enhance player experiences. GenAI is reshaping game design by introducing new opportunities for human-AI collaboration. This paper presents a review on how GenAI tools can be leveraged to create more meaningful, highly dynamic and personalized interactions within games. We begin by exploring the evolution of GenAI and its current applications in the gaming industry, highlighting its role in facilitating creative and immersive environments. A main area of investigation is the use of GenAI to enhance player experience, through procedural content generation, and adaptive gameplay mechanics. We examine how GenAI enables players to co-create within game worlds, enhancing their engagement. We delve into the customization of player experiences, analyzing how GenAI-driven systems can adapt to individual preferences and emotional responses to provide a tailored gaming experience. The paper also addresses the challenges and ethical concerns inherent in deploying GenAI in games, such as ensuring privacy, avoiding emotional manipulation, and providing appropriate content. Communication is a key element for the success of any organization. The present study aims to construct and validate a scale of perception of internal communication. It is also intended to assess whether there are differences in internal communication between employees who are teleworking and those who are in-person work in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology used is quantitative in nature based on a questionnaire survey, with the sample consisting of 837 Portuguese individuals in a work context. The results show that the structure of the scale of perception of internal communication is composed of three factors: organizational information, communication with supervisors, and communication between colleagues. The perception of internal communication in the factor organizational information showed higher levels in workers who are in telecommuting situations. It is hoped that this work will enrich the academy and enable managers to use communication more effectively so that the organizations they manage become more competitive. © 2023 The Authors. ALGOLITTLE is an EU-funded project, with partners from Portugal, Italy, Turkey, and Slovenia, supporting the integration of algorithmic thinking skills into preschool education for preparing future code literates from an early age. The paper presents the project and frames it in Portuguese Early Childhood Education. First, in terms of curricular areas and pedagogical approach, through a content analysis of the Portuguese Curricular Guidelines for Preschool Education. Second, by analyzing initiatives and projects that are connected to algorithmic thinking in Early Childhood Education in Portugal. Third, by presenting challenges that emerged from a set of discussions with several participants, highlighting the complexity and timeliness of the project. © 2021 IEEE.

In many sectors, there is a large amount of data collected and stored, which is not analyzed. The health area is a good example. This situation is not desirable, as the data can provide historical information or trends that may help to improve organizations performance in the future. Process mining allows the extraction of knowledge from data generated and stored in the information systems. This work aims to contribute to the aforementioned knowledge extraction, comparing different algorithms in process mining techniques, using health care processes and data. The results showed that Inductive Miner and Heuristic Miner are the algorithms with better results. Considering the execution times, Petri Net is the type of model that takes longer, but it is the one that allows a better analysis. © 2021, ICST institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.
