Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are the most energetic phenomena in the Universe. Many aspects of GRB physics are still under debate, such as the origin of their gamma-ray emission above the GeV energy range. In 2019, MAGIC detected TeV gamma rays from the long GRB 190114C, whose emission can be well explained by synchrotron-self Compton emission by relativistic electrons. However, it is still unclear whether such a process is common in GRBs, given the reduced number of GRBs detected until now at the very high energies (VHE). GRB 201216C is a long GRB and is the second one detected by MAGIC in this energy range. After receiving the alert provided by Swift-BAT, MAGIC automatically slewed to the GRB position, starting observations 56 seconds after the GRB onset. In the offline analyses of the collected data, we confirmed the detection of gamma-ray emission with a significance above 5 sigma. Following measurements from optical facilities, the redshift of this GRB was estimated to be z = 1.1. This makes GRB 201216C the most distant object ever detected by ground-based gamma-ray telescopes. In this contribution we will show the analysis results of the MAGIC data, also in comparison with past detected GRBs in the same energy range. Objectives: We sought to model chronic radiation-associated dysphagia (RAD) in patients given intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for oropharyngeal squamous cell cancer (OPSCC) as a function of age and dose to non-target swallowing muscles. Methods: We reviewed 300 patients with T1-T4 N0-3 M0 OPSCC given definitive IMRT with concurrent chemotherapy. Chronic RAD was defined as aspiration or stricture on videoflouroscopy/endoscopy, gastrostomy tube, or aspiration pneumonia at >= 12 months after IMRT. Doses to autosegmented regions of interest (ROIs;inferior, middle and superior constrictors, anterior and posterior digastrics, mylo/geniohyoid complex, intrinsic tongue, and gengioglossus) were obtained from DICOM-RT plans and dose-volume histograms. The probability of chronic RAD as a function of mean ROI dose, stratified by age (<50, 50-59, 60-69, or >70 years), was estimated with logistic probability models and subsequent unsupervised nonlinear curves. Results: Chronic RAD was observed in 34 patients (11%). Age was a significant correlate of chronic RAD, both independently and with dose for all muscle groups examined. Distinct muscle-specific dose-response profiles were observed as a function of age (e.g., 5% of patients in their 50 s [but 20% of those 70 +] who received 60 Gy to the superior constrictor had chronic RAD). This effect was stable across all observed muscle ROIs, with a false discovery rate-corrected p < 0.05, for all dose/muscle/age models, suggesting that including age as a covariate improves modeling of chronic RAD. Conclusions: Age at treatment moderates the probability of chronic RAD after chemo-IMRT for OPSCC, with aging muscles showing lower dose thresholds. Entanglement measures are useful tools in characterizing otherwise unknown quantum phases and indicating transitions between them. Here we examine the concurrence and entanglement entropy in quantum spin chains with random long-range couplings, spatially decaying with a power-law exponent α. Using the strong disorder renormalization group (SDRG) technique, we find by analytical solution of the master equation a strong disorder fixed point, characterized by a fixed point distribution of the couplings with a finite dynamical exponent, which describes the system consistently in the regime α > 1/2. A numerical implementation of the SDRG method yields a power law spatial decay of the average concurrence, which is also confirmed by exact numerical diagonalization. However, we find that the lowest-order SDRG approach is not sufficient to obtain the typical value of the concurrence. We therefore implement a correction scheme which allows us to obtain the leading order corrections to the random singlet state. This approach yields a power-law spatial decay of the typical value of the concurrence, which we derive both by a numerical implementation of the corrections and by analytics. Next, using numerical SDRG, the entanglement entropy (EE) is found to be logarithmically enhanced for all α, corresponding to a critical behavior with an effective central charge c = ln2, independent of α. This is confirmed by an analytical derivation. Using numerical exact diagonalization (ED), we confirm the logarithmic enhancement of the EE and a weak dependence on α. For a wide range of distances l, the EE fits a critical behavior with a central charge close to c = 1, which is the same as for the clean Haldane-Shastry model with a power-la-decaying interaction with α = 2. Consistent with this observation, we find using ED that the concurrence shows power law decay, albeit with smaller power exponents than obtained by SDRG. We here report the complete mitochondrial genome ofChrysichthys nigrodigitatus, which is 16,514 bp in length. Mitogenome ofC. nigrodigitatusshowed the conserved 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and two noncoding regions including the light-strand replication origin (OL) and a putative control region (CR). All tRNA genes were predicted to fold into the typical cloverleaf secondary structures with the typical base-pairing except for tRNA-Ser(AGC). Phylogenetic analysis with currently known complete mitogenome sequences in Siluriformes showed thatC. nigrodigitatusis most closely related toAuchenoglanis occidentalisforming a family Claroteidae cluster.

We demonstrate a rechargeable zinc-ion battery with high energy density and cyclability using MnO_(2)and reduced graphene oxide(MnO_(2)/rGO)*** flexible and binder free electrode,with high MnO_(2)mass ratio(80 wt%of MnO_(2)),is fabricated using vacuum filtration without any additional additives other than *** to batteries with conventional MnO_(2)electrodes,the Zn-MnO_(2)/rGO battery shows a significant enhanced capacity(332.2 mAh g^(-1)at 0.3 A g^(-1)),improved rate capability(172.3 mAh g^(-1)at 6 A g^(-1))and *** capacity retention remains 96%after 500 charge/discharge cycles at 6 A g^(-1).The high MnO_(2)mass ratio makes MnO_(2)/rGO electrode advantageous when the capacity is normalized to the whole electrode,particularly at high *** calculated gravimetric energy density of Zn-MnO_(2)/rGO battery is 33.17Wh kg^(-1),which is comparable to the existing commercial lead-acid batteries(30-40Wh kg^(-1)).Furthermore,the discharge profile and capacity of our Zn-MnO_(2)/rGO battery shows no deterioration during bending test,indicating good *** a result,zinc-ion battery is believed to be a promising technology for powering next generation flexible electronics.

Linelike features in TeV γ rays constitute a “smoking gun” for TeV-scale particle dark matter and new physics. Probing the Galactic Center region with ground-based Cherenkov telescopes enables the search for TeV spectral features in immediate association with a dense dark matter reservoir at a sensitivity out of reach for satellite γ-ray detectors, and direct detection and collider experiments. We report on 223 hours of observations of the Galactic Center region with the MAGIC stereoscopic telescope system reaching γ-ray energies up to 100 TeV. We improved the sensitivity to spectral lines at high energies using large-zenith-angle observations and a novel background modeling method within a maximum-likelihood analysis in the energy domain. No linelike spectral feature is found in our analysis. Therefore, we constrain the cross section for dark matter annihilation into two photons to ⟨σv⟩≲5×10−28 cm3 s−1 at 1 TeV and ⟨σv⟩≲1×10−25 cm3 s−1 at 100 TeV, achieving the best limits to date for a dark matter mass above 20 TeV and a cuspy dark matter profile at the Galactic Center. Finally, we use the derived limits for both cuspy and cored dark matter profiles to constrain supersymmetric wino models.

Properties of Superiorized Preconditioned Conjugate Gradient (SupPCG) algorithms in image reconstruction from projections are examined. Least squares (LS) is usually chosen for measuring data-inconsistency in these inverse problems. Preconditioned Conjugate Gradient algorithms are fast methods for finding an LS solution. However, for ill-posed problems, such as image reconstruction, an LS solution may not provide good image quality. This can be taken care of by superiorization. A superiorized algorithm leads to images with the value of a secondary criterion (a merit function such as the total variation) improved as compared to images with similar data-inconsistency obtained by the algorithm without superiorization. Numerical experimentation shows that SupPCG can lead to high-quality reconstructions within a remarkably short time. At the Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe determining accident-prone areas on roads in Lhokseumawe still using manual systems. Determination of accident-prone areas are less effective because the police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe just using the data of the last year and had to repeatedly calculate manually accident-prone areas based on the number of human casualties. In this study the system implementation CUSUM method (Cummulative Summary) to determine the accident-prone areas designed using the web-based programming language PHP. In this system there are three processes to determine areas prone to accidents, the accident rate calculations based on the weighted severity, blacksite calculations using the Z-Score method for determining areas prone to accident blackspots and calculations using the CUSUM method to determine the critical points of an accident. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe years 2009-2013. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Numerical simulation of fire in a gasoline storage tank in reduced-scale

With the increasing demand for energy and fuels in Brazil, the storage of liquid fuels in multiple tanks is becoming much more usual, posing challenges from the point of view of fire safety. To study this type of phenomenon and to evaluate its possible causes, detecting failures such as ones in design and erection of storage systems or in detection and protection equipment, numerical simulations are performed based on real data. This work presents numerical simulations of a small-scale tank for gasoline storage, based on an experimental study reported in literature. The present research shows results related to temperature in the region adjacent to the tank on fire, fuel mass burning rate, heat release rate and average flame height. Comparisons are made between numerical and experimental results, as well as with available literature results for similar conditions. In addition to gasoline type C (which has anhydrous ethanol in its composition), also gasoline type A (anhydrous ethanol free) is considered. The results obtained for simulations with gasoline type A presented better agreement with literature data than those for gasoline type C, the differences being due to the variable composition of the type C fuel. For example, the reported fuel mass burning rate for gasoline in literature is 0.045 kg/(m2·s), while the present simulations provided values of 0.038 kg/(m2·s) for type C and 0.047 kg/(m2·s) for type A. © 2016 Trans Tech Publications.
