Effects of TiO 2 waste on the formation of clinker phases and mechanical performance and hydration of Portand cement

The incorporation of different levels of UOW into Portland clinker raw meals and its effects on the clinker and cement properties were evaluated. Clinkers were produced and characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and optical microscopy; the cements were produced and physically characterized. Finally, pastes were produced and analyzed using isothermal calorimetry, thermogravimetry, XRD, and compressive strength tests. UOW, when added up to 1.29% in Portland clinker raw meal, acts as a mineralizer, increasing the content of alite by 6.44%. The incorporation of UOW reduces the hydration rate in the first days owing to the increase in the size of the alite crystals and delays the point of sulfate depletion due to the increase in the SO 3 content of the clinkers. Owing to the higher content of alite formed, the cement produced from the raw meal with 1.29% of UOW presents the highest early mechanical strength (up to 7 days).

The increasing consumption of antidepressants, aggravated by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, has resulted in the detection of compounds such as fluoxetine in drinking water. This substance is highly toxic to aquatic organisms and has the potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic environments. This study evaluated the effects of modifying natural zeolites through ion exchange to enhance their adsorption capacity and assess their multifunctional potential. Natural zeolites were modified by immersion in 0.1 mol L −1 solutions of AgNO 3 , MgCl 2 , FeSO 4 , and FeCl 3 , and their performance in fluoxetine removal was systematically compared. The samples were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, point of zero charge, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Adsorption experiments were conducted with an adsorbent concentration of 1 g L −1 and an initial fluoxetine concentration of 20 mg L −1 . The silver-modified zeolite (ZN-AgNO 3 ), which achieved the best performance among the tested materials, was selected for further testing. The pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models provided the best kinetic and isotherm fits, respectively, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 36.36 mg g −1 , achieved at 308 K and an equilibrium time of 21 h. Desorption experiments showed that the adsorbent maintained recovery rates above 50 % over four cycles of reuse. The main adsorption mechanisms involved ion exchange, electrostatic interactions, and hydrogen bonding, in addition to the affinity of silver with the functional groups of fluoxetine. The adsorbent also inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli . Overall, ZN-AgNO 3 demonstrated potential for fluoxetine removal and antibacterial activity.

Poultry wastes (PW) and palm oil mill effluents (POME) are thought to be promising starting materials for biogas production. In the present study, the optimization of biomethanization process from co-digested (PW) and POME was investigated. To assist digestion, samples were sun-dried, ground, and mixed with water to form slurry. The central composite design was used in the experimental design, while the desirability function was applied in the process optimization of the co-digestion process. The interactive effects of temperature, pH, and hydraulic retention time were equally studied. The results showed a high co-efficient of determination (R 2 ) value of 0.9920. Also, the predicted and experimental values obtained were 4377.71 ml and 4379.01 respectively, while the optimum conditions obtained were 45 °C, 8.00 and 15 days for temperature, pH, and hydraulic retention time, respectively. This finding shows that the proposed technique is effective and robust in predicting biomethane generation from co-digested POME and PW.

The development of the economic sector is determined by services to the public through reforms that aim to place public satisfaction through the management of road infrastructure assets. Some research on road infrastructure assets still requires a deepening of studies related to the delivery of public services related to asset management systems. The purpose of this study is to find an appropriate road infrastructure asset management strategy through an integrated asset management system and asset management policies that can provide public satisfaction. This comprehensive approach to management strategies ensures that the performance of service provider assets is in line with the expectations of stakeholders including road users. This descriptive qualitative research is based on the perspective of road users as respondents, consisting of vehicle drivers from 50 transportation companies (people or goods) through interviews and observations. The results show aspects of asset performance based on the user's perspective there are five aspects, namely productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, use of resources and institutions and this performance is integrated in the asset management system related to policies from the management authority through service delivery namely quality and mobility, risk and use and maintenance of resources. The conclusion of this research is that road infrastructure asset services can be improved through the concept of road infrastructure asset management strategies in an integrated management system with five aspects of performance and more directed towards asset management policies related to the provision of road infrastructure asset services.

Zika virus (ZIKV) is a flavivirus linked to multiple birth defects including microcephaly, known as congenital ZIKV syndrome. The identification of host factors involved in ZIKV replication may guide efficacious therapeutic interventions. In genome-wide transcriptional studies, we found that ZIKV infection triggers aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) activation. Specifically, ZIKV infection induces kynurenine (Kyn) production, which activates AHR, limiting the production of type I interferons (IFN-I) involved in antiviral immunity. Moreover, ZIKV-triggered AHR activation suppresses intrinsic immunity driven by the promyelocytic leukemia (PML) protein, which limits ZIKV replication. AHR inhibition suppressed the replication of multiple ZIKV strains in vitro and also suppressed replication of the related flavivirus dengue. Finally, AHR inhibition with a nanoparticle-delivered AHR antagonist or an inhibitor developed for human use limited ZIKV replication and ameliorated newborn microcephaly in a murine model. In summary, we identified AHR as a host factor for ZIKV replication and PML protein as a driver of anti-ZIKV intrinsic immunity.

Lightningsurge on transmission network is a natural problem that affecting electricity voltage. This impact on the occurrence of equipment damages as result of back flashover. Back flashover causes an impulse wave due to the increase of voltage on the transmission and has a large grounding resistance value. There has been a disturbance in the transmission system SULSELRABAR causing black out on Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at 14:13 pm. The disturbance occurred along with the rain and strong winds accompanied by lightning which caused the load loss of 746 MW. The research was conducted to determine the occurrence of direct lightning strikes on each tower, the effect of grounding resistance to back flashover on150 kV transmission network in main station of Sungguminasa - Tallasa, using modeling simulation of peak menara transmission network 150 kV in main station of Sungguminasa - Tallasa with software ATPDraw (Alternative Transient program). The simulation results depicting one of the phase wire reach the peak current of 359.89 MA. In this condition occurs disruption that causing the impulse voltage and back flashover with disturbance current 22.65 kA. The large of grounding resistance has an average voltage exceeding the capacity limit from 1001.54 kV to 1042.31 kV. Based on the calculation, the impulse voltage obtained is 5.271 MV close to simulation result of ATPDraw(Alternative Transient program) by 4.530 MV. The calculation of the current wave when there is lightning disturbance in the transmission line with a peak current of 60 kA and the wave front time of 1 set, obtained the highest value that is on the tower 39 the grounding value of 5.4 Ω, the grounding value obtained reflection coefficient of -0.937 and insulator voltage at 957.036 kV, the results of this research held the measurement of tower 39 using Megger Det4tcr and obtained the grounding value on the tower feet of 12.22 and 9.97 ohm. The use of natural fibers as a filler in the industry still continue to be developed, given its eco-friendly and contains material which is great. This research was conducted to find out the influence of boiled water and rice husk as filler material in epoxy resins. The making of the specimen using the method of hand lay-up with each variation of filler 10%-40% of the total weight of material test and the specimen without filler 0% for contrast. Polymer materials used i.e. epoxy resins. Testing is done namely pull-test, test volume resistivity and surface resistivity. Pull-test is performed using standard ASTM D-638 and resistivity test using standard ASTM D 257. The test results showed that the maximum volume resistivity values reached in the levels of water hyacinth 20% whereas on rice husk volume resistivity increase continues to occur until levels of 40% of the epoxy resins. Surface resistivity continues to increase in the levels of water hyacinth reaches 20% on epoxy resins as well as the addition of a filler rice husk. The tensile strength of the epoxy resins materials has decreased with the addition of water hyacinth and rice husk. The value of the maximum attainable tensile strength on the composition of the filler is 20%. With increasing levels of water hyacinth and rice husk in epoxy resins, the nature of the material brittle epoxy resins increase or an increase in the hardness of epoxy resin resulting in fragility. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Content Based Image Classification (CBIC) has garnered massive interest within research community for it's applications and significances in multiple areas. This paper has explored a robust feature vector definition scheme based on fusion of handcrafted features to neural network based feature extraction, popularly known as representation learning. The extracted handcrafted features are primarily evaluated with classification results to identify the best color space for significant descriptor definition. Further, feature vector extraction using pre-trained Convolution Neural Network is exercised for evaluating classification performance with representation learning features. Finally, an early fusion of handcrafted feature and representation learning feature is accomplished to examine the classification performance of the model. The test bed is prepared using Wang dataset having 10 different categories of 1000 images. Six different color spaces are explored to finalize the best fit for feature extraction with the proposed handcrafted technique. Performance analyses of the proposed model have turned out to be superior compared to state-of-the-art techniques and have established the importance of fusion based approach in enhancing the accuracy of content based image classification.

The main aim of this study was to perform a scoping review on the wear behaviour of recent dental glass-ceramics and its influence on the damage of opposing tooth enamel surfaces. Relevant in vivo and in vitro studies reported significant damage on enamel surfaces after friction against current glass-ceramics and therefore different parameters have been studied such as the glass-ceramic type, wear set up, environment, and surface treatment. The opposing enamel loss in volume, weight, or vertical measurement shown by previous studies is significantly higher when compared to enamel-by-enamel wear values. In fact, high values of hardness and elastic modulus of glass-ceramics combined with rough surfaces can result in detrimental effects on the tooth enamel surfaces. Restorative dental materials must withstand masticatory loads in combination with aesthetic benefits and high biocompatibility. Nevertheless, elastic modulus, hardness, and roughness of glass-ceramics should be adjusted to decrease the damage on tooth enamel surfaces. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd

Ecotourism is not only as a tourist activity nowadays, but has become an activity that contains economic elements, as well as efforts to conserve natural resources and the environment. In regional development, ecotourism focuses on the quality of physical components, but the emotion of place attachments are not adequately considered. To find out the emotional of place attachments on ecotourism, this research was conducted in the mangrove ecotourism area with data collection techniques, namely field observations which were then supported by the distribution of questioners to the community (50) and tourists (50). The results of this study are perceptions between tourists and the local community about emotional of place attachments to the Sicanang Mangrove Forest Ecotourism.
