Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) ranks fourth among the oil seeds worldwide and can be consumed raw, cooked, roasted, as flour, butter, or crushed into edible oil. The main use of peanuts grown in the world is the production of edible oil that can be used in cooking thanks to its mild flavor and the possibility of being incorporated into other food preparations. Peanut oil is rich in vitamins and fatty acids, mainly palmitic, oleic, and linoleic acids, and traces of linolenic fatty acid. The seeds, skin, and shells possess bioactive compounds such as ellagic acid, chlorogenic acid, gallic acid, catechin, daidzein, genistein, epicatechin, kaempferol, luteolin, and resveratrol. The presence of bioactive compounds in the seeds, skin, shell, and food products may represent a sustainable and cost-effective dietary intervention with a vast potential to be used in the prevention or even in the treatment of chronic degenerative diseases, including diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. A significant concern related to peanut seeds and by-products consumption is allergenicity. Moreover, the presence of aflatoxin is a global concern as it has a strong link with the development of cancer. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.

The use of mobile phone as a communication tool rapidly increases, as well as various types of functions therein. Among of the many applications on the mobile phone, which are used skype androidbased for teleconferencing via mobile phone. Things can not be separated from these applications is the need of qualified internet network access for these applications can be felt up function. One of the network access to the Internet is widely used today's society is a wi-fi network. Access to the Internet does not always provide the best performance, this is due to many factors, one of which is the presence of interference. In this study, we tested transmission of video signals in real-time using an application skype on the mobile phone. Skype run on wi-fi network, which is influenced by the presence of interference or objects such as human traffic in the network. Wireshark were used to obtain data reliability wi-fi network, known as QoS. While evalvid used to obtain the data QoE restricted only get the data PSNR (Peak Signal To Noise Ratio) and MSE (Mean Square Error). © 2015 Universitas Ahmad Dahlan.

Momordica grosvenori is a valuable edible plant with medicinal purposes,and it is widely used in medicated diets and traditional Chinese medicine in *** V (MV),the main bioactive component from ***,is commonly used as a natural *** extracts have been reported to exert potent anti-inflammatory property,however the underlying molecular mechanism still remains *** the present study,the biological effect of MV in inflammation was investigated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 *** ELISA and western blot analysis results showed that MV significantly inhibited LPS-induced prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) *** markedly decreased the phosphorylation of IκB-α,increased IκB-α,and reduced nuclear p-65 and C/EBPδ.Furthermore,MV attenuated LPS-induced phosphorylation of MAPKs and AKT1,and only the phosphorylation status of AKT1 was found to be consistent with the expression trend of ***,MV reduced ROS level and restored overexpressed HO-1 and AP-1 to basal level,which can be markedly reversed by AKT1 inhibitor *** results revealed that AKT1 plays a key role in LPS-induced COX-2 expression,and acts as a mediator to keep the redox balance in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 *** exerts anti-inflammatory property by blocking AKT1-mediated NF-κB and C/EBPδ activation,ROS generation and AP-1/HO-1 ***,the present study indicated that MV has a significant chemopreventive effect on the inflammatory lesions and suggested that AKT1 is a potential specific target of MV for relieving inflammation.

A key component of microbial communication, autoinducer-2 (AI-2) signaling, affects several physiological processes, including environmental adaptation and biofilm formation in lactic acid bacteria (LAB). The multifarious contribution of AI-2, synthesized by LuxS, in improving biofilms and tolerance to hostile conditions in LAB has been investigated in this review. The evolutionary conservation and diversity of AI-2 are shown by a phylogenetic analysis of luxS gene among several LAB species. Furthermore, AI-2 signaling in LAB improves resistance to unfavorable environmental factors, including pH fluctuations, temperature extremes, and antimicrobial agents. Lactic acid bacteria could set off defenses against harmful impacts from environmental stresses. © 2025 Institut Pasteur

This research introduces a deep learning framework that combines convolutional neural networks with autoencoders to improve the diagnostic accuracy of knee osteoarthritis. The study utilized a publicly available dataset from the Mendeley Data repository, where knee joint images were preprocessed using Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization to enhance contrast and ensure consistent image sizing. Initially, an autoencoder was employed in an unsupervised manner to learn compressed representations of the data. These representations were then used to train a CNN to classify knee images into 'healthy' and 'osteoarthritic' categories. The model was trained using an 80:20 split for training and testing data, incorporating early stopping and data augmentation techniques to prevent overfitting and enhance generalization. Performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (ROCAUC) were used to evaluate the model, resulting in a high test accuracy of 98.95%. The high precision and recall rates further confirmed the model's robustness in diagnosing KOA. To enhance interpretability, Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) was applied to identify critical regions in the images that influenced the model's decisions. Additionally, t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) was used to visualize the high-dimensional encoded features in a two-dimensional space, providing deeper insights into how the model differentiates between classes. The promising results of this deep learning approach suggest its potential for broader applications in medical imaging diagnostics. By providing healthcare professionals with a tool that enhances diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency, this framework lays the foundation for developing scalable, AI-driven diagnostic systems for various complex medical conditions. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. Effects of a Combination of Phytoestrogens on Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Diseases in Climacteric Women: A Randomized, Placebo-controlled Trial

Background & Aims: The incidence of cardiovascular disease in climacteric women has increased, becoming the main cause of death in mature women. The use of phytoestrogens, isoflavones, and lignans derived from soy and flaxseed can be natural alternative treatments for this phase of life. This study investigates the utility of isoflavones and lignans derived from soy and flaxseed as natural alternatives to pharmaceuticals to alleviate the symptoms of menopause. Methods: A clinical, prospective, randomized, blind, placebo-controlled trial was performed. For-ty-eight women aged 40 to 65 years were divided into two groups, Phytoestrogen (PHY), which received a cereal bar containing isoflavones and lignans for 90 days, and Placebo (PLA), which received expanded rice flake bar. The sociodemographic, clinical, anthropometric data, blood pressure (BP) measurements, and biochemical and hormonal tests were performed. Results: Forty-three women were included in this study (PHY=21 and PLA=22). There was a significant reduction in diastolic BP in the PHY group after the intervention (p<0.001). The frequen-cy of BP fluctuations in the PHY group significantly decreased to 23.8% after the intervention period (p=0.027), with no significant differences for the other indicators studied. Conclusion: The combination of phytoestrogens showed a trend in reducing the blood pressure of climacteric women. However, no significant changes in cardiovascular risk factors were observed. Grape processing generates residues rich in bioactive compounds with potential application in the meat ***,these substances are unstable and needs to be treated to allow their action during the processing and storage of meat *** this sense,a phenolic-rich extract from grape pomace was microencapsulated and evaluated for its potential to inhibit the oxidative process in raw and precooked beef burgers during cold *** hamburger formulations containing lyophilized extract(LEB),microencapsulated extract(MEB)and synthetic antioxidant sodium erythorbate(SEB)were prepared,pre-cooked,and evaluated for lipid and protein *** microencapsulation,with 95.0%efficiency,provided a material with a crystalline structure,rich in phenolics and with high antioxidant potential,showing 377.4±0.01,1768.1±0.07 and 1185.0±0.20μmol TEAC.100 g^(−1) for DPPH,ABTS and FRAP,*** values of malonaldehyde were found in LEB and MEB(2.9±0.3 and 1.4±0.5 mg ***^(−1),respectively)at the end of storage,with emphasis on for the hamburgers that received the microencapsulated *** behavior was observed for the analysis of carbonyl compounds,with values of 11.1±1.1,8.7±1.4 and 6.8±1.0 nM ***^(−1) in SEB,LEB and MEB,***,the freeze-dried and microencapsulated grape extracts showed superior results when compared to the synthetic antioxidant,increasing the oxidative stability of hamburgers,and avoiding significant color changes during the cold *** results indicate the high potential of the microencapsulated material to be used as a natural antioxidant in the meat industry.

Analysis of synthetic natural gas injection into charcoal blast furnace

Recently, the synthetic natural gas (SNG) has been available for large consumers in the Brazilian domestic market. The SNG is a suitable fuel with potential use to several processes and facilities of the steel industry. This paper investigates the injection of SNG into charcoal blast furnaces as a substitute for granular charcoal charged from the top and pulverized charcoal injections with potential increase of productivity and decrease of specific CO2 emissions. In order to study the effect of replacement of granular charcoal and injection of pulverized charcoal the well known Blast Furnace Five Fluid Model (BF-FFM) is applied to describe detailed phenomena within the process. This model treats the blast furnace as a five-phase reactor, accounting for gas, lump solids (raw iron ore, sinter, pellets and granular charcoal), hot metal, pulverized charcoal, and molten slag. The model is based on conservation equations for mass, momentum, energy and chemical species numerically solved based on the finite volume method (FVM). The SNG has high amount of H2 and strongly affects the inner conditions of the reactor and only a comprehensive model with detailed chemical reaction rates can properly predict the inner parameters of the process and hence furnish useful information to design smooth operational conditions. The simulation results obtained in this study indicated that smooth operations using SNG up to 25 N m3/t of pig iron could be achieved simultaneously by increasing the productivity up to 58% and with a decrease of 40 kg/thm on the granular charcoal charged. © 2013 Brazilian Metallurgical, Materials and Mining Association.

Problem posing is very important in learning mathematics. Many studies have indicated that problem posing can improve the ability to solve mathematics problems. Therefore it is necessary to encourage students systematically to do problem posing. This research tries to pack problem posing in puzzle frame in order to increase student's interest and ability to do problem posing. The puzzle game which is then directed to problem posing is assured can arouse students' enthusiasm, thus encouraging their involvement in problem posing activities. Two groups of junior high school students each consisted of 31 and 32 students selected as samples. The first group follow mathematics class with problem posing learning model that preceded by playing a puzzle but still in a mathematical environment. The second group follow the mathematics class with problem posing learning model only. At the end of the research student's interest and ability to do problem posing are compared by using MANOVA test. Wilks' Lambda test results F = 10.8 on significance (p) = 0.002. Based on these findings, it is concluded that the problem posing learning model in mathematics that is preceded by playing puzzles can increase students' interest and ability to do problem posing. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study aimed to explore the technological potential of endogenous lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from milk and cheese produced in São Paulo, Brazil, for use in the preparation of fermented dairy products. A total of 562 microorganisms were isolated, with Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus and Enterococcus faecalis being the predominant species. Among these, 169 isolates were characterized for their technological properties, and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was applied to rank the most promising strains. Based on this analysis, 43 isolates were selected and evaluated for acidification potential, autolysis, antimicrobial activity, antibiotic susceptibility, and aromatic compound production. Lactobacillus delbrueckii CTR1 exhibited the highest acidification potential (ΔpH 1.00). Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus JLR3 displayed strong antimicrobial activity, particularly against Salmonella Enteritidis and Staphylococcus aureus, while Enterococcus faecium ITR5 was effective against Escherichia coli. The aromatic compound profile of fermented milks led to the selection of Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus AQTR10 and Enterococcus xinjiangensis AQLM2 for sequencing and functional characterization. These strains were shown to produce diacetyl (butane-2,3-dione), acetoin (3-hydroxy-butan-2-one), acetic acid (ethanoic acid), and acetaldehyde (ethanal). Functional annotation revealed that L. rhamnosus possesses the genetic machinery for diacetyl and acetoin biosynthesis via the citrate pathway, as well as for acetaldehyde and acetic acid production through an aldehyde dehydrogenase-encoding gene. In E. xinjiangensis, genetic evidence for acetaldehyde biosynthesis was identified. These findings suggest that the two LAB strains isolated from dairy samples in southeastern Brazil hold promise as adjunct cultures for fermented dairy product development. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd
