Impact of absence of lactose on the dynamic sensory profile of yogurt: A multiple-intake TDS approach

This paper aims to evaluate the impact of lactose free yogurt version on dynamic sensory perception and consumer acceptability. A total of 46 participants evaluated classical (SNY) and lactose-free (SLF-Y) commercial version of yogurts using the multiple-intake TDS technique, providing information about the dominant sequence of six flavor and texture sensory attributes. Moreover, information regarding the overall liking of the evaluated products was obtained. During the first intake, in SLF-Y samples, sourness presented a higher dominance rate compared to SNY. A similar dominance profile was obtained during the second intake between the two yogurts. During the third intake, SNY consumption was dominated by dairy attribute whereas during SLF-Y intake, fermented and creaminess were the dominance attributes. Yogurt version and the numbers of intakes presented a significant impact on temporal perception. Moreover, similar liking scores were reported for both evaluated yogurts. The present study revealed that absence of lactose showed an impact of temporal sensory perception of yogurt and the potential modifications on sensory perception can be revealed by applying the multiple intake TDS approach. © 2022 The Authors

The synthesis reaction used in esterification needs high energy consumption and a precise processing time to get the best yield of target. In this study, a model was formulated to optimize glycerol esterification process by minimizing the time needed for the process and maximizing the yield of Mono-glycerides. This optimization has gained importance for boosting the esterification industry and improving the production efficiency. Optimization through adaptive monitoring and control has provided significant advances in the process efficiency, a lower energy consumption and a better product quality. This paper presents the optimization with a computational algorithm in real time and adaptive control (RTAC), as compared to the conventional (traditional) methods to monitor and control of glycerol esterification processes. The identification of esterification status based on temperature and time are evaluated to strengthen the optimization. An adaptive method as feature selection to select wavelength IR sensors at specified intervals was carried out with Relief algorithm and Adaptive Pillar K-means clustering method to set the parameter control was proposed in this paper. Many combinations were evaluated from real time condition process, to achieve the best optimization results. The experimental results demonstrate that real time adaptive control can be achieved by using three clusters, which are heating up, stabilizing and finishing. In RTAC, each cluster has its own parameter to set the control point by the servo motor that was attached to magnetic stirrer-heater. By using optimization parameter for each cluster, esterification process time can be shortened by 15-20 minutes with a higher yield (7% or more), lower range stirrer rotation (300rpm-450 rpm) and a lower final temperature of 200℃ - 210℃.

This paper shows the use of PBL (Problem-Based Learning) technique as a key to learning VoIP in courses like Electrical Engineering and Computer Networks in conjunction with open source and the public domain software called Asterisk which was used to create the scenario of the experiment and the problems presented to the students. In order to make the validation, the experiment was applied to students of Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and in Communication technology System, undergraduate courses at the Federal Institute of Education, science and technology of Paraíba - IFPB, in the Telephony subject, with promising results. The Asterisk software was presented as a useful and flexible tool for constructing scenarios and problems for the teaching of VoIP technologies and the used approach resulted as effective for improving the attainment of the defined learning objectives.

Reference genomes of root microbes are essential for metagenomic analyses and mechanistic studies of crop root microbiomes. By combining high-throughput bacterial cultivation with metagenomic sequencing, we constructed comprehensive bacterial and viral genome collections from the roots of wheat, rice, maize, and Medicago. The crop root bacterial genome collection (CRBC) significantly expands the quantity and phylogenetic diversity of publicly available crop root bacterial genomes, with 6,699 bacterial genomes (68.9% from isolates) and 1,817 undefined species, expanding crop root bacterial diversity by 290.6%. The crop root viral genome collection (CRVC) contains 9,736 non-redundant viral genomes, with 1,572 previously unreported genus-level clusters in crop root microbiomes. From these, we identified conserved bacterial functions enriched in root microbiomes across soils and host species and uncovered previously unexplored bacteria-virus connections in crop root ecosystems. Together, the CRBC and CRVC serve as valuable resources for investigating microbial mechanisms and applications, supporting sustainable agriculture. © 2025 The Authors

In this paper the resonant behavior of frequency selective surfaces, FSS, using matryoshka geometry is analyzed considering polarizations x and y. The basics of the FSS using matryoshka geometry are described for usual and open cases, including an expression to estimate the first resonant frequency. Initially, the FSS with two concentric square rings is considered and its resonant behavior analyzed. Then, the resonant behavior of FSS with two rings matryoshka geometry is examined. The analysis is based on the electric current distribution obtained using the commercial software ANSYS-Designer. With a better understanding of the resonance nature in matryoshka geometry the design parameters can be better adjusted and desired frequency responses properly achieved. © 2015 IEEE.

Grape juices are rich in bioactive compounds;however,for these compounds to exert their functionality,they must be ***,the present study evaluated a simulated digestion process on the main bioactive compounds of monovarietal grape juices of five Brazilian hybrid cultivars(*** x ***).Characterization of the chemical profiles in liquid chromatography(HPLC-DAD-RID),behaviour of phenolics in the stages of digestion and bioaccessibility through the INFOGEST protocol plus intestinal barrier passage were carried *** the 24 polyphenols identified in the grape juice samples,11 were bioaccessible,with emphasis on the class of *** B2(101-426%),(+)-catechin(169-370%)and gallic acid(61-230%)stood out in all juices,showing that these compounds are key to the functionality of these *** were observed to differ between juices,demonstrating that factors such as the cultivar should be explored more extensively in studies on functional *** study also suggests that quality components such as sugars and organic acids influence the bioaccessibility of beverages.

Lonicerae japonicae (L. japonicae) flos is a medical and food homology herb. This study investigated the phenolic acid and flavonoid contents in L. japonicae flos water extract solution (LJWES) and the preventive effects of LJWES against liver fibrogenesis via FL83B cells and rats. LJWES contains many polyphenols, such as chlorogenic acid, morin, and epicatechin. The high use of internet especially social media has made this virtual world as a marketing tool. Therefore, this study aims: to determine the effect of Instagram-social media promotion on purchasing decisions, the level of AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire and Action) among consumers;its influence on purchasing decisions;and to determine the suitable AIDA model for fresh products. The research population is Instagram followers @HappyFresh_id. The sample is 100 people based on five-percent-error-probability of Slovin formula, and it is derived by a simple random sampling technique. The data collected during March-April 2021, and adopting multiple linear regression analysis, proves AIDA simultaneously influences purchasing decisions with a determination level of 67%. Likewise, the interest, desire, and action have a significant effect on buying decisions. Accordingly, the research presents three variations of AIDA model for effective social media marketing, but it needs further analysis. © 2021 IEEE.

Background: The literature indicates that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects cardiac autonomic control. In this study, we conducted a literature review in order to investigate the heart rate variability (HRV) in COPD subjects. Methods: A search was performed in Medline database, using the link between the keywords: "autonomic nervous system", "cardiovascular system", "COPD" and "heart rate variability". Results: The search resulted in a total of 40 references. Amongst these references, the first exclusion resulted in the barring of 29 titles and abstracts, which were not clearly related to the purpose of review. This resulted in a total of 11 articles that were then read and utilized in the review. The selected studies indicated that there is significant reduction of HRV in patients with COPD, characterized by reduction of indices that assess parasympathetic activity in addition to dealing with the global autonomic modulation. We also established that supervised exercise can reduce these harmful effects in COPD patients. Also, it was reported that the use of non-invasive ventilation in these patients may contribute to the improvement of respiratory symptoms, with no impairing, and may even induce positive responses in cardiac autonomic regulation. Conclusion: The studies indicate a need for further investigations to guide future therapies to improve the treatment of cardiovascular system in the respiratory diseases. © 2014 Roque et al.;licensee BioMed Central Ltd.

Modification of Porang (Amorphophallus oncophyllus) Flour by Acid and Thermal Process using Conventional Heating in Waterbath and Microwave Irradiation

Modified porang flour by lactic acid and conventional heating using waterbath (PAW) and microwave radiation (PAM) were determined its functional group using FTIR, the chemical structure were studied using H1NMR, molecular weight were measured using HPLC-SEC and its microstructure were studied using SEM, particles size were measured using PSA and rheology characteristics were determined using Rheometer. The results showed that modified porang either PAW and PAM showed changes on functional group peaks compared to one of native porang flour included OH, CH_3, C-C, C = O, C-O-C, mannose and glucose groups. H1NMR spectra of modified porang flour (PAW and PAM) were similar mainly in proton of CH_3 and CH_2, molecular weight were higher at PAW 2.0×10^6 and PAM 3.0×10^6, while particles size of PAW and PAM were smaller. The microstructure of PAW and PAM were porous and spongy indicated that PAW and PAM had higher moisture accessability on the amorph site. Storage modulus (G') dan loss modulus (G＂) PAW and PAM decreasing with the increased temperature. Lower G' compared to G＂ and modulus (G' and G＂) did not showed crossing indicated that PAW and PAM have a stable visco-elasticity. It can be concluded that functional group peaks of modified porang flour (PAW and PAM) changed differently compared to native porang flour, H1-NMR spectra of modified porang flour were similar, with bigger moleculer weight of PAM than PAW, the microstructure were porous and spongy and rheology characteristics indicated that an unchanged visco-elastic system by thermal treatments.
