Delay/Disruption-Tolerant Networks (DTNs) have been used in many different scenarios and are characterized by the high mobility of nodes, the constant disconnection, the high delays for message delivery and the frequent partitioning. The union of Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) and DTNs has created a new research field in Vehicular Delay-Tolerant Networks (VDTNs) based on DTN's stored-carry-and-forward mechanism and applying it to the vehicular context. This mechanism allows messages to be routed to their destinations without the need of end-to-end connections. Due to the widespread availability of low cost on-board communication devices, message routing in VDTN has become an important research target. That is why many protocols can be found in the literature with the goal of overcoming the challenges encountered by applications developed for this context. Nevertheless, these proposed protocols do not take into consideration important requirements such as: no dependency on Road Side Units (RSU) and mechanisms to obtain information about the location of vehicles. This paper proposes and describes a message routing algorithm based on consciousness and human behavior in order to address the main demands of the VDTN environment.

This paper presents an approach for Web service (WS) composition that enables the automatic adjustment of the composition at run-time to deal with WS execution flaws, e.g., WS unavailability, failure to execute properly or to produce desired results. The WS composition problem is converted into a nondeterministic planning problem which, by its turn, is mapped to SAT. Afterwards, a SAT solver obtains all the possible WS compositions with a maximum length N, which are then fused into a contingency strategy (CS) according to compatibility criteria. Such strategy enables the process execution engine to readily choose the most suitable WS composition to enact, and switch to an alternative composition with minimum adaptation cost in case of any WS execution flaw.

Green Cloud Computing aims at a processing infrastructure that combines flexibility, quality of services, and reduced energy utilization. In order to achieve this objective, the management solution must regulate the internal settings to address the pressing issue of data center over-provisioning related to the need to match the peak demand. In this context, we propose an integrated solution for resource management based on organization models of autonomous agent components. This work introduces the system management model, analyzes the system's behavior, describes the operation principles, and presents a use case scenario. To simulate the approach of organization, theory and implementation of migration policies and reallocation changes were made as improvements in the code of CloudSim framework.

The efficacy of content-based image classification is dependent on the richness of the feature vectors extracted from the image data. Traditional feature extraction techniques highlight single low level image characteristics like shape, size, texture, color etc. for feature generation. The process often fails to extract meaningful descriptors since considering a single image characteristic will ignore other rich properties of image contents. Mass adoption of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) has significantly improved classification performances for content-based image data. Recent literature has documented high level of precision for image classification by carrying out transfer learning with open source pre trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). However, the concept of transfer learning experiences major setback in case of limited training data due to overfitting of training instances during finetuning. This work has identified this challenge and has attempted to capture probability distribution of input images to a pre trained Convolution Neural Network by utilizing it as a fixed weight feature extractor. The proposed approach has addressed the overfitting problem by removing the finetuning step involved in transfer learning. Further investigation on robust descriptor definition is carried out by concatenating the pre-trained CNN features to handcrafted features. The hybrid architecture has encouraging outcomes that have outclassed the classification accuracies of state-of-the-art handcrafted techniques. © 2021, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management.

Microservice application developers try to mitigate the impact of partial outages typically by implementing service-to-service interactions that use well-known resiliency patterns, such as Retry, Fail Fast, and Circuit Breaker. However, those resiliency patterns-as well as their available open-source implementations-are often documented informally, leaving it up to application developers to figure out when and how to use those patterns in the context of a particular microservice application. In this paper, we take a first step towards improving on this situation by introducing a model checking-based approach in which we use the PRISM probabilistic model checker to analyze the behavior of the Retry and Circuit Breaker resiliency patterns as continuous-time Markov chains (CTMC). This approach has enabled us to quantify the impact of applying each resiliency pattern on multiple quality attributes, as well as to determine how to best tune their parameters to deal with varying service availability conditions, in the context of a simple client-service interaction scenario.

In this paper we address the task of hierarchical bird species identification from audio recordings. We evaluate three types of approaches to deal with hierarchical classification problems: the flat classification approach, the local-model per parent node classifier approach and the global-model hierarchical-classification approach. For the flat and local-model classification approach we employ the classic Naive Bayes algorithm. For the global-model approach we use the Global Model Naive Bayes (GMNB) algorithm. As in the classical Naive Bayes, the algorithm computes prior probabilities and likelihoods, but these computations take into account the hierarchical classification scenario: it assumes that any example which belongs to a given class will also belong to all its ancestor classes. In the current application, the employed class hierarchy is the standard scientific taxonomy of birds used in Biology. In order to deal with the bird songs we obtain features by computing several acoustic quantities from intervals of the audio signal. We conduct three experiments in order to compare the three different approaches to the hierarchical bird species identification problem. Our experimental results show that the use of the GMNB hierarchical classification algorithm outperforms both the flat and local-model approaches (Using the Hierarchical F-measure metric);hence the use of a global-model approach (such as the GMNB) can be a feasible way to improve the classification performance for problems with a large number of classes.

Refactoring is a modification in the internal structure of software, in order to improve quality, understandability and maintainability, without changing its observable behavior. Search Based Software Refactoring (SBSR) deals with automatic software refactoring processes using optimization algorithms. In this context, here we investigate the problem of finding a sequence of refactorings that provides code improvement, according to software quality attributes, expressed by a combination of software metrics. There are multiple criteria to define the quality of a solution, therefore this problem is defined as a Many-Objective Combinatorial Optimization Problem. There is a lack of works that focus on Many-Objective Discrete Problems in SBSR. In this direction, this work proposes a Many-Objective Estimation Distributed Algorithm to find a sequence of refactorings on an object-oriented software. The algorithm explores archiving methods and probabilistic models. A set of experiments is performed, with the aim of investigating which is the best algorithm configuration, regarding the probabilistic model and selection procedure.

With the advancement of technology, information systems have become increasingly necessary in almost all areas, including healthcare. One of the technologies used to facilitate this progress is electronic medical records (EMRs). Although EMRs have improved service delivery and patient care in healthcare, they also pose risks to patient data due to cybercrime attacks, which can result in data theft and alteration of medical records. Medical identity theft has become a major issue in healthcare systems around the world, While technology has been beneficial in improving service delivery and patient care in healthcare, it has also introduced numerous risks to patient safety and ultimately impacted patient health. Cybersecurity issues have advanced with technology, thus increasing the rate at which medical identity thefts occur. The healthcare industry lags in curbing cybersecurity issues, and thus, it is vulnerable to many cyberattacks. To address these risks, techniques, and methods are needed to ensure the security of EMR systems against cybercrime attacks. This study used a literature review method and identified eleven articles that met inclusion and exclusion criteria. Through analysis of these articles, several techniques and methods were identified to secure the privacy system in EMRs, such as mIBE-AES, DES, and RSA methods. The literature review revealed that Encryption Data is the safest technique to use, as it is standardized, widely accessible, and cost-effective. Furthermore, mIBE-AES is the safest method for EMRs because it is both secure and efficient for storing medical record documents. Performance evaluations were conducted to test the level of security against cybercrime attacks.

The synthesis reaction used in esterification needs high energy consumption and a precise processing time to get the best yield of target. In this study, a model was formulated to optimize glycerol esterification process by minimizing the time needed for the process and maximizing the yield of Mono-glycerides. This optimization has gained importance for boosting the esterification industry and improving the production efficiency. Optimization through adaptive monitoring and control has provided significant advances in the process efficiency, a lower energy consumption and a better product quality. This paper presents the optimization with a computational algorithm in real time and adaptive control (RTAC), as compared to the conventional (traditional) methods to monitor and control of glycerol esterification processes. The identification of esterification status based on temperature and time are evaluated to strengthen the optimization. An adaptive method as feature selection to select wavelength IR sensors at specified intervals was carried out with Relief algorithm and Adaptive Pillar K-means clustering method to set the parameter control was proposed in this paper. Many combinations were evaluated from real time condition process, to achieve the best optimization results. The experimental results demonstrate that real time adaptive control can be achieved by using three clusters, which are heating up, stabilizing and finishing. In RTAC, each cluster has its own parameter to set the control point by the servo motor that was attached to magnetic stirrer-heater. By using optimization parameter for each cluster, esterification process time can be shortened by 15-20 minutes with a higher yield (7% or more), lower range stirrer rotation (300rpm-450 rpm) and a lower final temperature of 200℃ - 210℃.

This paper proposes an incremental, structural and contextual validation method for Nested Context Language (NCL) documents. As part of the proposed method, we define a declarative metalanguage to ensure low coupling between NCL structure and the validator code, which simplifies the validation of new language profiles. Requirements such as incremental processing and multilingual messages are also covered by this work. We present an implementation of this method using component architecture as a proof of concept and also conduct a performance evaluation to compare the traditional and incremental validation approaches. © 2013 The Brazilian computer Society.
