Contamination of aquatic and terrestrial organisms by Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), emerging contaminants, is widespread, as these compounds are present in water, soil, air, and food, owing to their environmental persistence. PFAS exposure induces biochemical process alterations associated with the disruption of the antioxidant defense system in several species. This review aims to discuss how PFAS-induced antioxidant system alterations lead to changes in biochemical processes in different organisms exposed to these pollutants. This disruption, then leads to an imbalance in antioxidant defense systems, contributing to the formation of reactive oxidative species (ROS), which, in turn, can be exacerbate oxidative stress, induce cellular damage, enhance lipid peroxidation, destabilize lysosomal membranes, and cause genotoxic effects, ultimately compromising DNA integrity. In acute tests, PFAS have led to mortality, growth inhibition, diminished behavioral and locomotor abilities, and reproductive impairment. PFAS-induced effects differ with varying species or types of substances, and further bioaccumulation through food chains exacerbates environmental contamination, carrying considerable risks. These findings demonstrate the complex and enduring impact of PFAS on environmental health, emphasizing the importance of this review in corroborating studies on sub-lethal toxicity in exposed organisms and how these effects reflect on the environment. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

The residents of the floating village of Malahing, Bontang, East Kalimantan, earn their living as fish catching fishermen and seaweed farming. Residents even experience a clean water crisis, every month they require a budget IDR 300, 000 until IDR 400, 000 to buy clean water at Tanjung Laut by ketinting. The PKT programmed rain harvesting for Malahing residents to supply clean water. The method used was field observations and surveys as well as simple calculations using the program of Office Excel. The PKT carried out gutter procurement for every resident's house, provided three plastic drums of 200 litres to collect rainwater, provided filters to filter rain water, train the residents to care for and repair the filters. As a result, the residents get clean water to meet their daily basic, grow vegetables for family needs and do greening in their yard and water them. They can also water communal latrines so that defecation is not carried out at sea. Malahing residents can save IDR. 356, 000 until IDR 456.000 per month, help save fossil fuels and reduce carbon dioxide emissions so they become healthier, prosperous and environmentally friendly. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Water is one of the primary needs of living things. Everyday human life needs water from drinking water consumption, water recreation, animal husbandry, and agriculture. It is important to monitor water quality in water bodies so that they can be used properly. The goal is to find out water quality in Sikendil River, Klepu Village, Pringapus District, Semarang Regency, and Pollution control efforts undertaken by stakeholders. Water quality will be assessed using the Pollution Index Method, pollutant Physical, Chemical, and Biological parameter test results compared with quality standards in government regulations No. 82 of 2001. Samples were taken at the ordinate point S: 070 10 '52.7;E: 1100 26' 52.2;. Secondary data from the Semarang Regency DLH lab test results in 2019. The result is that the parameters exceed the quality standards of nitrate, nitrite, free chlorine, and COD. Water quality was in the Polluted category for the water class I, II, and III designations at 9.50, 9.41, and 9, 35. The status of Medium Pollution in water class IV is 1.66. Sumatra and Kalimantan are the region with the area and the highest rubber production in Indonesia, including Lampung province that is also abundant production of rubber seed every year. Rubber seed contains a protein that is high enough. With the high crude protein, it can be used to make rubber seed chips and snacks potential to be used as a source of protein for pregnant ibi amino acids to help meet the mother during pregnancy. Sufficient amino acid intake during pregnancy associated with a body length of birth. This research was observational analytic with cross sectional design. Sampling method used in this study is consecutive sampling. The study was conducted in East Lampung in 2016. The subjects were all pregnant women including rubber farmers in East Lampung region and met the inclusion criteria of the study. The samples obtained were 124 pregnant women and their babies. Data were analysed descriptively. The results obtained indicate that rubber seed chips can help meet amino acid intake during pregnancy and affects the baby's body length at birth. Integrated watershed management has been regulated in the Regional Regulation Number 22 of 2014 Lampung Province. Watershed is a land area that is a unity of ecosystem with river and its tributaries that function to accommodate, store and drain water coming from rainfall to lake or sea naturally. The Lampung Province watershed is a watershed across several districts / cities in Lampung Province covering Sekampung watershed, Tulang Bawang basin, Seputih watershed, watershed watershed, Abar Kambas watershed and Mesuji basin. The largest part of the upstream of this river is located in West Lampung District, part of North Lampung, and part Tanggamus. The existence of integrated watershed management aims to improve and prevent damage to the watershed and realize the welfare of the community. Lampung Watershed Forum ensures that the watershed condition in Lampung has been severely damaged by the destruction of forests and dryland farming without soil conservation impacting on the declining water quality so that it will be dangerous if consumed by the people around the watershed. This condition leads to various diseases related to reproduction. This reproductive disease can affect children as well as adults. This study aims to determine the impact of the implementation of regulation number 22 of 2014 relating to reproductive health of people along the Lampung River Basin. The research method is descriptive observational research. The results obtained show that the implementation of Regulation No. 22 of 2014 has not touched the reproductive health of the community. Nevertheless, the number of reproductive diseases in the community along the Way Sekampung catchment in 2016 is smaller than in 2012. Needed assessment and impact handling for community welfare to materialize. The results of this study are expected to be a contribution of thought in the integrated watershed management of Lampung Province. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Ciujung River is one of the important rivers in Banten Province and it is the main water supply for agriculture, industry and bathing. Due to extensive agricultural, urban, and industrial activities in the watershed of this ecosystem, some studies have assumed that the river is contaminated. But, there is no research related Ciujung River water quality with biological indicator and maping pollutant sources. The aim of this study is analyze: water quality of Ciujung River and influence of activities in Ciujung watershed to the water pollution in Ciujung River. Calculation Pollution Index (PI) and calculation chlorophyll-A abundance are adopted for water quality assessments. Water quality were analysed based on secondary data from BBWS C3 in January-May 2020. Chlorophyll-A abundance measured by Sentinel-2 imagery, water quality assessments result of each section presented in spasial data with GIS. Water quality map overlayed with land use map to indentify the influence of activities in Ciujung watershed to water pollution in Ciujung River. PI calculation results show that Ciujung River is moderately polluted, PI calculation result of each section is >5. Meanwhile, the abundance of chlorophyll-A can describe level of pollution in Ciujung River from biological parameters, the highest chlorophyll-A abundance is in Pamarayan (38,6) and the lowest chlorophyll-A abundance is in Jembatan Keong (18,6). © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2020.

70% of Bontang area is ocean. There are two large factories in Bontang, they are PT. Pupuk Kaltim (PKT) in Bontang Utara District and PT. Badak NGL in South Bontang District. Pupuk Kaltim's CSR implementation, since the operation of the factory from 1979 to 2015, is still charitable. Thus, the implementation of CSR does not have much impact on both the community and the company. Local people often protest the company by using environmental issues, namely the large number of dead fish caused by environmental pollution from PKT factory's liquid waste. They sometimes close the ship's entry and exit lanes from the PKT's factory port. In 2016, PKT implemented the Creating Shared Value (CSV) program at Tanjung Limau. This program is a program for sharing the results of PKT CSR with local fishermen through lobster and grouper cultivation on Floating Net Cage (FNC). The aim is to identify the economic, social and natural impacts on Tanjung Limau fishermen groups who are members of the PKT CSV program. Data was collected from BMTFEC diaries from 2016 to 2018 through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), interviews, and questionnaires. The results show that the income of members of the fishing group ranges from IDR 2,000,000 per month, is more environmentally friendly, members of the fishing group increase, and they get access to new markets. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2019.

The economic growth of the City of Semarang is influenced by the development of the manufacturing/ construction industry and construction has an effect on increasing pollution and/ or environmental damage. For this reason, one of the Government's efforts to provide protection and living environment management for its citizens is through environmental law enforcement. The main objective of law enforcement in cases of pollution and/ or environmental damage is to restore the environmental ecosystem and to improve the quality of the environment. Administrative legal instruments are considered the most appropriate for this purpose, because the characteristics of administrative sanctions are preventive through supervision and licensing and are repressive through the application of administrative sanctions. This study aims to find out how the enforcement of environmental law through administrative law, how the implementation of administrative sanctions as one of the instruments of law enforcement for environmental administration and inhibiting factors in its application. This research uses the literature method by studying books, laws and regulations and other written materials related to the discussion material. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2020.

Wastes from landfills originate from many spheres of life. These are produces as a result of human activities either domestically or industrially. The global plastic production increased over years due to the vast applications of plastics in many sectors. The continuous demand of plastics caused the plastic wastes accumulation in the landfill consumed a lot of spaces that contributed to the environmental. In addition, economic growth and development also increased our demand and dependency on plastics which leads to its accumulation in landfills imposing risk on human health, animals and cause environmental pollution problems such as ground water contamination, sanitary related issues, etc. The management and disposal of plastic waste have become a major concern, especially in developing cities. The idea of waste to energy recovery is one of the promising techniques used for managing the waste of plastic. Microalgae have been viewed as one of potential solution for CO2 biofixation or CO2 sequestration. However, many factors need to be evaluated to support development of CO2 biofixation. One important environmental factor for the growth of micro algae is related with light requirement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of light intensity and photoperiod on growth of Chlorellapyrenoidosa (***) and CO2 biofixation. Experiments were carried out in 1000 mL semi batch photo bioreactors, purged continuously with air (0.034% CO2). An Experiment of Factorial Design was employed in which the light intensity was evaluated 4 level at 2000, 4000, 6000 and 8000 lux with 3 level of photo period at L/D (light/dark) 8 hours/16 hours;L/D 12 hours/12 hours and L/D 16 hours/8 hours. The result indicated that both light intensity and photo period had significant effect (p2biofixation rate of around 2 times was also observed between highest setting (8000 lux;L/D 16/12 hours) relative to that of lowest setting (2000 lux;L/D 8/12 hours). © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.
