In this paper, we propose a model for the rapid characterization of MOS-type capacitors in the accumulation region. Closed-form analytical expressions have been used to estimate the equivalent circuit elements, which are calculated as a function of the design parameters of the layout and of the technological process. To verify the modeling carried out, a set of MOS capacitors with different geometries were simulated in ADS® and the main characteristics of the capacitor were compared. Based on the model, an analysis/optimization was implemented in MATLAB® in order to determine the capacitor/cell layout parameters that optimize its structure, based on a figure of merit. Compared to another work in the literature, the proposed method showed a chip-area reduction of 20.82% and an ESR of 16.38% smaller for the same capacitance value. Capacitor optimization not only contributes to reducing costs but also to improving the performance of the circuit it will make part of.

There is a great interest in epidermal devices that provide comfort to users. In this work, an RFID tag for on-body applications on a polyimide substrate was proposed. The tag consists of a low-profile flexible substrate that conforms to the body's curvature, allowing comfortable monitoring of physiological functions. The passive tag has a total dimension of $112.6\times 26.6\ \text{mm}^{2}$ . It is composed of a folded dipole antenna, in which two Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) cells were incorporated to improve its performance in proximity to the body, and the Monza® X-2K Dura chip from Impinj®. According to the simulation results, its maximum read range is 3.21 m. Two experiments were carried out: one without the presence of the human body and another with the tag on the abdomen of a volunteer. The maximum read range achieved in the first configuration was 1.89 m, and in the second configuration, it was 1.10 m.

Renewable energy sources have been increasingly targeted as an alternative for reducing fossil fuel emissions. This scenario requires a better understanding of energy systems' performance and limitations, notably using photovoltaic setups under diverse meteorological conditions and determining device measurement uncertainties. Accordingly, this study conducts a performance evaluation of a photovoltaic system of copper, indium, and gallium (di)selenide technology. It compares the results provided by a reference normalized equation with two interpretable artificial intelligence techniques, Fuzzy Inference System and Bayesian Networks, when temperature is also considered. In the experiments, the study found significant percentage differences between the normalization procedure and the fuzzy system on days with lower irradiation values. On the other hand, the results provided by Bayesian networks presented lower difference percentages in relation to the normalization equation values.
