This paper explores the fault susceptibility of in-vehicle communication protocols. It proposes integrating aspect-oriented concepts to model common faults in the design phases of embedded systems and faults as non-functional requirements NFR. An analytical case study was conducted considering the tests of electrical fast transients (EFT) injection presented in previous works and based on data collected during these experiments. A fault tree analysis was conducted to determine the effect of the faults in the networked control system. Results based on a single-time approach reveal adverse effects (CAN: 0.622, CAN-FD: 0.352, FlexRay: 0.730). The research contributes to mitigating the impact of EFT faults on in-vehicle communication networks, enabling more specific fault analysis.

This paper shows the building of an embedded Asterisk platform as a key technique for providing Information Technology classes with an extra laboratorial environment for learning Voice over Internet Protocol. Besides building the platform, the students are asked to mount a functional telephony system with it that meets the criteria of low cost, low building complexity and high adaptability to convergent networks. The Raspberry PI version B was the board used to provide portability for the students to work outside the laboratory environment. Asterisk was presented as a useful tool on which the students could create a flexible system that could be easily deployed on convergent networks. This work was developed in the Telephony subject for the electricalengineering and the Telecommunications Systems undergraduate courses from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba - IFPB, and presented good results in the students' learning achievements.

In this paper, a six-phase machine drive system fed by a nine-leg converter is proposed. The drive system is composed of a three three-leg inverters feeding a six-phase induction motor, which is adequate to develop a high power system with voltage rating restrictions. The studied system is compared to the conventional solution and it is demonstrated that the nine-leg converter permits to reduce the harmonic distortion of the machine currents and to decrease the power processed by converter switches. The system model and the PWM strategy are presented. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system.

This paper proposes ten alternative drive topologies with reduced number of controlled switches. The topologies are composed by three-level (3L) and two-level (2L) legs combinations. All of them aim to feed a three-phase machine based on the concept of open-end-winding (OEW). Conventional OEW configurations are considered for comparison purposes. The proposed topologies are named accordingly to the number of levels associated in each leg. For example, a topology with one 3L leg and five 2L legs is named 322-222. The other configurations are named in a similar manner. The OEW based systems using proposed configurations aim to give intermediate alternative solution in terms of cost-benefit rather than using conventional configurations. Some simulation and experimental results are presented in order to validate the theoretical approaches.
