Appropriateness of Water Hyacint and Rice Husk as Filler Materials for Resin Polymer Insulation

The use of natural fibers as a filler in the industry still continue to be developed, given its eco-friendly and contains material which is great. This research was conducted to find out the influence of boiled water and rice husk as filler material in epoxy resins. The making of the specimen using the method of hand lay-up with each variation of filler 10%-40% of the total weight of material test and the specimen without filler 0% for contrast. Polymer materials used i.e. epoxy resins. Testing is done namely pull-test, test volume resistivity and surface resistivity. Pull-test is performed using standard ASTM D-638 and resistivity test using standard ASTM D 257. The test results showed that the maximum volume resistivity values reached in the levels of water hyacinth 20% whereas on rice husk volume resistivity increase continues to occur until levels of 40% of the epoxy resins. Surface resistivity continues to increase in the levels of water hyacinth reaches 20% on epoxy resins as well as the addition of a filler rice husk. The tensile strength of the epoxy resins materials has decreased with the addition of water hyacinth and rice husk. The value of the maximum attainable tensile strength on the composition of the filler is 20%. With increasing levels of water hyacinth and rice husk in epoxy resins, the nature of the material brittle epoxy resins increase or an increase in the hardness of epoxy resin resulting in fragility.

Lightningsurge on transmission network is a natural problem that affecting electricity voltage. This impact on the occurrence of equipment damages as result of back flashover. Back flashover causes an impulse wave due to the increase of voltage on the transmission and has a large grounding resistance value. There has been a disturbance in the transmission system SULSELRABAR causing black out on Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at 14:13 pm. The disturbance occurred along with the rain and strong winds accompanied by lightning which caused the load loss of 746 MW. The research was conducted to determine the occurrence of direct lightning strikes on each tower, the effect of grounding resistance to back flashover on150 kV transmission network in main station of Sungguminasa - Tallasa, using modeling simulation of peak menara transmission network 150 kV in main station of Sungguminasa - Tallasa with software ATPDraw (Alternative Transient program). The simulation results depicting one of the phase wire reach the peak current of 359.89 MA. In this condition occurs disruption that causing the impulse voltage and back flashover with disturbance current 22.65 kA. The large of grounding resistance has an average voltage exceeding the capacity limit from 1001.54 kV to 1042.31 kV. Based on the calculation, the impulse voltage obtained is 5.271 MV close to simulation result of ATPDraw(Alternative Transient program) by 4.530 MV. The calculation of the current wave when there is lightning disturbance in the transmission line with a peak current of 60 kA and the wave front time of 1 set, obtained the highest value that is on the tower 39 the grounding value of 5.4 Ω, the grounding value obtained reflection coefficient of -0.937 and insulator voltage at 957.036 kV, the results of this research held the measurement of tower 39 using Megger Det4tcr and obtained the grounding value on the tower feet of 12.22 and 9.97 ohm. This paper presents a method to determine hysteresis parameters of an inductor's core with a closed magnetic circuit based on electric current and voltage curves of a damped LC circuit. The proposed procedure makes use of the concept of hysteresis modeling by separating the magnetic field into four components, which can be linearized in terms of its parameters. Thus, curves can be adjusted with a stochastic method in order to match experimental ones, allowing for determination of hysteresis parameters. © 2016 IEEE.

A study on the length and type of the window function used in the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT), along with its suitability to extract the harmonic content from a High Impedance Fault (HIF) current is presented on this paper. Additionally, a method to detect HIF based on the phase angle of the third harmonic current is developed. The proposed algorithm performance is evaluated by two database: one containing HIF simulated signals and other containing actual HIF oscillographic records. This paper presents the current state of this research, and, so far, the method is able to detect HIF occurring in different types of surfaces (wet and dry), as well as it is insusceptible to typical noises present in the real oscillograms. © 2016 IEEE.

A new form of light-emitting diode (LED) light suitable for general illumination is proposed to enhance subconscious, nonimage-forming visual responses, which are essential to our well-being. Pulsing light has been shown to reduce photoreceptor adaptation and elicit stronger subconscious visual responses at an indoor illumination level. Using the silent substitution technique, a melanopsin-selective flicker can be added into white light. A linear optimization algorithm was developed to suppress any perceivable fluctuation of light intensity and colors of illuminated objects. Two examples of lights are given to illustrate the potential applications of the proposed multi-LED light for general illumination and therapeutic purposes. © 2009-2012 IEEE.

Condensed-matter systems that simultaneously exhibit superconductivity and ferromagnetism are rare due the antagonistic relationship between conventional spin-singlet superconductivity and ferromagnetic order. In materials in which superconductivity and magnetic order are known to coexist (such as some heavy-fermion materials), the superconductivity is thought to be of an unconventional nature. Recently, the conducting gas that lives at the interface between the perovskite band insulators LaAlO3 (LAO) and SrTiO3 (STO) has also been shown to host both superconductivity and magnetism. Most previous research has focused on LAO/STO samples in which the interface is on the (001) crystal plane. Relatively little work has focused on the (111) crystal orientation, which has hexagonal symmetry at the interface, and has been predicted to have potentially interesting topological properties, including unconventional superconducting pairing states. Here we report measurements of the magnetoresistance of (111) LAO/STO heterostructures at temperatures at which they are also superconducting. As with the (001) structures, the magnetoresistance is hysteretic, indicating the coexistence of magnetism and superconductivity, but in addition, we find that this magnetoresistance is anisotropic. Such an anisotropic response is completely unexpected in the superconducting state and suggests that (111) LAO/STO heterostructures may support unconventional superconductivity.

Imaging materials and inner structures with resolution below the diffraction limit has become of fundamental importance in recent years for a wide variety of applications. In this work, we report sub-diffractive internal structure diagnosis of hexagonal boron nitride by exciting and imaging hyperbolic phonon polaritons. Based on their unique propagation properties, we are able to accurately locate defects in the crystal interior with nanometer resolution. The precise location, size and geometry of the concealed defects is reconstructed by analyzing the polariton wavelength, reflection coefficient and their dispersion. We have also studied the evolution of polariton reflection, transmission and scattering as a function of defect size and photon frequency. The nondestructive high-precision polaritonic structure diagnosis technique introduced here can be also applied to other hyperbolic or waveguide systems, and may be deployed in the next-generation bio-medical imaging, sensing and fine structure analysis. For the last two decades, electro-electronic components have become more and more integrated into automotive vehicles, with an increasing importance in essential functions implying the safe overall operation of the car. Although these innovations come as a car performance improvement, it can also have adverse effects (some related to safety) in case of malfunction. These undesirable behaviors can be caused by Electromagnetic Interferences (EMI), and the probability increases when a large number of electro-electronic components act together in the same environment, causing failures that may damage part or the whole system. In Brazil, the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) validation of these systems is currently a relative option and the decision of testing or not (and how deep) is up to each car manufacturer. Moreover, most of these validations are still realized out of Brazil, turning developments more expensive, more time-consuming and underusing Brazilian metrology chain. This paper proposes a study of the Brazilian automotive EMC validation context and a comparison with the worldwide scenario, taking into account its technical, economic and social impacts and bringing arguments to discuss a possible federal regulation. By performing spatially resolved Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy with different illumination conditions, we have achieved a unified understanding towards the spectroscopy signatures of the organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite, transforming from the pristine state (CH3NH3PbI3 or MAPbI3) to fully degraded state (i.e., PbI2), for samples with varying crystalline domain size from mesoscopic scale to macroscopic size, synthesized by three different techniques. © 2017 IEEE.
