The modified Ashworth scale (MAS) is the most widely used measurement technique to assess levels of spasticity. In MAS, the evaluator graduates spasticity considering his/her subjective analysis of the muscular endurance during passive stretching. Therefore, it is a subjective scale. Mechanomyography (MMG) allows registering the vibrations generated by muscle contraction and stretching events that propagate through the tissue until the surface of the skin. With this in mind, this study aimed to investigate possible correlations between MMG signal and muscle spasticity levels determined by MAS. We evaluated 34 limbs considered spastic by MAS, including upper and lower limbs of 22 individuals of both sexes. Simultaneously, the MMG signals of the spastic muscle group (agonists) were acquired. The features investigated involved, in the time domain, the median energy (MMGME) of the MMG Z-axis (perpendicular to the muscle fibers) and, in the frequency domain, the median frequency (MMG mf ). A study on the length and type of the window function used in the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT), along with its suitability to extract the harmonic content from a High Impedance Fault (HIF) current is presented on this paper. Additionally, a method to detect HIF based on the phase angle of the third harmonic current is developed. The proposed algorithm performance is evaluated by two database: one containing HIF simulated signals and other containing actual HIF oscillographic records. This paper presents the current state of this research, and, so far, the method is able to detect HIF occurring in different types of surfaces (wet and dry), as well as it is insusceptible to typical noises present in the real oscillograms.

The problem of determining a path between two nodes in a network that must visit specific intermediate nodes arises in a number of contexts. For example, one might require traffic to visit nodes where it can be monitored by deep packet inspection for security reasons. In this paper a new recursive heuristic is proposed for finding the shortest loopless path, from a source node to a target node, that visits a specified set of nodes in a network. In order to provide survivability to failures along the path, the proposed heuristic is modified to ensure that the calculated path can be protected by a node-disjoint backup path. The performance of the heuristic, calculating a path with and without protection, is evaluated by comparing with an integer linear programming (ILP) formulation for each of the considered problems. The ILP solver may fail to obtain a solution in a reasonable amount of time, especially in large networks, which justifies the need for effective, computationally efficient heuristics for solving these problems. Our numerical results are also compared with previous heuristics in the literature.

Nowadays, messaging technology in digital data form more often used and not less messages that confidentially wanted. Then it should be modified so that can be understood only by the sender and the intended recipients. All of this system can be realization by using cryptography. LUC algorithms are introduced by Smith and Lennon in 1993. LUC algorithm is an algorithm that based on the use of Lucas sequence (specific arithmetic operations derived from Lucas row) that rarely used to enhance the security of the messages. In this research, LUC algorithm is combined with visual cryptography to process the encryption and the description of a colored image. Four different images were used in the trial here. The performance of the system is assessed using Structural similarity (SSIM) which has an assessment similar to human eye. If the image quality is the same as the original image, then the SSIM value is one. Whereas if the quality of decryption image is very different from the original image then the value of SSIM is zero.

This paper proposes a low cost three-phase power quality meter. Due to its characteristics, the meter can be applied for residential or small businesses use. The proposed device uses the power definitions from IEEE Standard 1459-2010. Moreover, it calculates the true rms value, the individual harmonics, and the voltage unbalanced factor. In order to validate the power quality meter, simulations and experimental results are presented. The results are presented on a web page that can be accessed by any device with internet access.

We perform transport measurements on double quantum dots defined in Ge/Si core/shell nanowires and focus on Pauli spin blockade in the regime where tens of holes occupy each dot. We identify spin blockade through the magnetic field dependence of the leakage current. We find both a dip and a peak in the leakage current at zero field. We analyze this behavior in terms of quantum dot parameters such as coupling to the leads, interdot tunnel coupling, as well as spin-orbit interaction. We estimate a lower bound on the spin-orbit parameter corresponding to an upper bound of lso=500 nm for the Rashba spin-orbit length. We also extract effective Landé g factors up to 8.0 from field-dependent spin blockade measurements.
