In the quest for novel quantum states driven by topology and correlation, kagome lattice materials have garnered significant interest due to their distinctive electronic band structures, featuring flat bands (FBs) arising from the quantum destructive interference of the electronic wave function. The tuning of the FBs to the chemical potential would lead to the possibility of liberating electronic instabilities that lead to emergent electronic orders. Despite extensive studies, direct evidence of FBs tuned to the chemical potential and their participation in emergent electronic orders have been lacking in bulk quantum materials. Here using a combination of Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) and Density Functional Theory (DFT), we reveal that the low-energy electronic structure of the recently discovered Cr-based kagome metal superconductor CsCr3Sb5 is dominated by a pervasive FB in close proximity to, and below the Fermi level. A comparative analysis with orbital-projected DFT and polarization dependence measurement uncovers that an orbital-selective renormalization mechanism is needed to reconcile the discrepancy with the DFT calculations, which predict the FB to appear 200 meV above the Fermi level. Furthermore, we observe the FB to shift away from the Fermi level by 20 meV in the low-temperature density wave-ordered phase, highlighting the role of the FB in the emergent electronic order. Our results reveal CsCr3Sb5 to stand out as a promising platform for further exploration into the effects of FBs near the Fermi level on kagome lattices, and their role in emergent orders in bulk quantum materials. © 2024, CC BY.

The standard IEEE 802.15.4e shows several improvements which makes it outperforming the predecessor IEEE 802.15.4 standard. A remarkable improvement is the use of multiple channels and the capability to choose the most convenient depending on the network links state. Hence, different techniques can be provisioned to dynamically select the most appropriate channel for establishing the link through an adaptive mechanism. During the contention-free periods, the Time-Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) mode is based on channel hopping while the Deterministic and Synchronous Multi-channel Extension (DSME) mode uses either channel hopping or channel adaptation. In scenarios where channel diversity techniques are used for channel adaptation nodes links are established using the same channel as long as the channel quality (SNR) is high enough. In consequence to guarantee link best performance, its quality must be measured periodically to decide whether continue in the same channel of switch to a better performance one. Our investigation focuses on the analysis of the performance of three different approaches which pretend to take advantage of the multichannel capabilities of the new standard, based on the DSME protocol: CH-DSME which is based on a simple channel hopping mechanism, CA-DSME which employs channel adaptation, and a novel hybrid approach (H-DSME) which combines channel hopping and channel adaptation. This investigation shows that, in an industrial environment, the H-DSME outperforms both CH-DSME and CA-DSME approaches. In this work, the Castalia simulator was used to perform the simulations, using a reliable simulation model, which captures the characteristics of the wireless channel in industrial environments in long range basis. The analysis demonstrates that channel adaptation is better than channel hopping for unicast packets transmission, when links quality are continuously measured. Water is a chemical compound that is very important for living things on this earth. The function of mineral water for human life cannot be replaced by other compounds. To ensure that it can be used for needs, quality monitoring must be carried out continuously. This study aims at designing mineral water quality test equipment using the fuzzy logic algorithm method that is equipped with a pH sensor, TDS sensor, temperature sensor, LDR sensor, LCD, Wi-Fi module. The simulation results show that an average value of pH sensor of 8.5 - 12, TDS sensor of 300 - 350 ppm, sensor temperature of 22-25oC, and the resistance of the LDR of 110-170 Ohm sensor for daytime while the evenings of 920 - 970 Ohm. The several types of water tested was 5 areas around Bandung and Telkom University Dormitories. The accuracy of this tool reaches of 80%, it can be seen from the calibration results.

Polarization entanglement holds significant importance for photonic quantum technologies. Recently emerging subwavelength nonlinear quantum light sources, e.g., GaP and LiNbO3 thin films, benefiting from the relaxed phase-matching constraints and volume confinement, has shown intriguing properties, such as high-dimensional hyperentanglement and robust entanglement anti-degradation. Van der Waals (vdW) NbOCl2 crystal, renowned for its superior optical nonlinearities, has emerged as one of ideal candidates for ultrathin quantum light sources [Nature 613, 53 (2023)]. However, polarization-entanglement is inaccessible in NbOCl2 crystal due to its unfavorable nonlinear susceptibility tensor. Here, by leveraging the twist-stacking degree of freedom inherently in vdW systems, we showcase the preparation of tunable polarization entanglement and quantum Bell states. Our work not only provides a new and tunable polarization-entangled vdW photon-pair source, but also introduces a new knob in engineering the entanglement state of quantum light at the nanoscale. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Quantification of lung function on CT images based on pulmonary radiomic filtering

Purpose: To develop a radiomics filtering technique for characterizing spatial-encoded regional pulmonary ventilation information on lung CT. Methods: The lung volume was segmented on 46 CT images, and a 3D sliding window kernel was implemented across the lung volume to capture the spatial-encoded image information. Fifty-three radiomic features were extracted within the kernel, resulting in a 4th order tensor object. As such, each voxel coordinate of the original lung was represented as a 53-dimensional feature vector, such that radiomic features could be viewed as feature maps within the lungs. To test the technique as a potential pulmonary ventilation biomarker, the radiomic feature maps were compared to paired functional images (Galligas PET or DTPA-SPECT) based on Spearman correlation (ρ) analysis. Results: The radiomic feature map GLRLM-based Run-Length Non-Uniformity and GLCOM-based Sum Average are found to be highly correlated with the functional imaging. The achieved ρ (median [range]) for the two features are 0.46 [0.05, 0.67] and 0.45 [0.21, 0.65] across 46 patients and 2 functional imaging modalities, respectively. Conclusions: The results provide evidence that local regions of sparsely encoded heterogeneous lung parenchyma on CT are associated with diminished radiotracer uptake and measured lung ventilation defects on PET/SPECT imaging. These findings demonstrate the potential of radiomics to serve as a complementary tool to the current lung quantification techniques and provide hypothesis-generating data for future studies. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a pervasive developmental disorder that will affect children in terms of interpersonal communication, social interaction, and imaginative levels in play. Many therapies to help the motor neuron performance is one of them Pretend Play. Pretend Play is a therapy that invites children in playing to demonstrate something else and tell how to use objects that are considered in the child's imagination. However, in the era of highly developed technology, many fields have used the Augmented Reality method as a visualization of various aspects. With this method researchers will present the therapeutic visualization of the block to 3D transportation tool that is useful for strengthening motor nerves and visual strength of the child. The system can run well during marker detection, marker movement, and 3D object display with the accuracy of precision angle and distance between virtual world with real world reach 100% with angle 0 at distance 31 cm and the maximum distance from the marker is 46 cm and the maximum angle is 30. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Few-photon optical nonlinearity in planar solid-state systems is challenging yet crucial for quantum and classical optical information processing. Polaritonic nonlinear metasurfaces have emerged as a promising candidate to push the photon number down – but have often been hindered by challenges like the poor photon-trapping efficiency and lack of modal overlap. Here, we address these issues in a self-hybridized perovskite metasurface through critical coupling engineering, and report strong polaritonic nonlinear absorption at an ultra-low incident power density of only 519 W/cm2 (2 orders of magnitude lower than the state of art in free-space planar devices), with an estimated photon number of 6.12 per cavity lifetime. Taking advantage of a quasi-bound-state-in-the-continuum design with asymmetry-controlled quality-(Q)-factor, we systematically examine the Q-dependent device nonlinearity and determine the optimal cavity critical coupling condition. With the optimized device, we demonstrate at 6 Kelvin a tunable nonlinear response from reverse saturable absorption to saturable absorption at varying pump powers, with a maximal effective nonlinear absorption coefficient up to 29.4±5.8 cm/W (6 orders of magnitude larger than unpatterned perovskites) at 560 nm wavelength. In addition, the cavity-exciton detuning dependent device response is analyzed and well explained by a phase-space-filling model, elucidating the underlying physics and the origin of giant nonlinearity. Our study paves the way towards practical flat nonlinear optical devices with large functional areas and massive parallel operation capabilities. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this work, our study comprises of design and investigation on negative capacitance (NC), metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) field effects transistors (MOSFETs) with spacer and source/drain (S/D) overlap engineering. The scope of the work is to boost the performance and high-energy efficiency of the studied NC-MOSFETs by using the ferro electric material (FE). The NC-MOSFETs with the spacer technology can achieve the admirable I on /I off ratio and subthreshold swing (SS), compared with planar MOSFETs. It makes device scaling possible by eliminating the short channel effect (SCE). We further estimated the effect of FE thickness and spacer, which are another critical parameter of obtaining better electrical characteristics and reducing SS.

This paper presents a two-phase hybrid prognostics approach; in the first phase, the model’s parameters are estimated using available training data in the least squares sense using the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. The second phase consists of using a particle filter to update the knowledge acquired so far and to predict future states of the system using in the Bayesian sense. The approach is used for an accelerated ball bearing data set, the PRONOSTIA platform, where a general fractional polynomial model is proposed as degradation model. The results of the Remaining Useful Life estimation are compared with another work in the literature, indicating its suitability and competitiveness for prognostics in this data set.

In Arc-Welding Machines (AWM), the power-to-weight ration is an important project parameter. This paper brings a proposition to use synchronous rectification to lower rectification stage's power losses on semiconductors, increasing total efficiency. A commercial product was studied, tested and characterized and a synchronous rectifier was then designed to replace the passive diode rectifier. A model of the machine was created and verified by comparison with measured behaviour and then used to simulate the synchronous rectifier application. Simulation results showed a promising reduction in power losses, which could be used in reducing the machine's size or increasing its power rating. In both cases, an improvement of power-to-weight ratio is verified. Ultimately, bench tests and welding tests were made to establish a comparison point between the machine with passive rectifier and the machine with synchronous rectifier.
