Phosphorus related species are not known to be as omnipresent in space as hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur-bearing species. Astronomers spotted very few P-bearing molecules in the interstellar medium and circumstellar envelopes. Limited discovery of the P-bearing species imposes severe constraints in modeling the P-chemistry. In this paper, we carry out extensive chemical models to follow the fate of P-bearing species in diffuse clouds, photon-dominated or photodissociation regions (PDRs), and hot cores/corinos. We notice a curious correlation between the abundances of PO and PN and atomic nitrogen. Since N atoms are comparatively abundant in diffuse clouds and PDRs than in the hot core/corino region, PO/PN reflects 1 in the late warm-up evolutionary phase of the hot core/corino regions. During the end of the post-warm-up phase, we obtain PO/PN > 1 for hot core and 3along with various impurities. We notice that SO2overlaps with the PH3bending-scissoring modes around ∼ (1000 - 1100) cm-1. We also find that the presence of CO2can strongly influence the intensity of the stretching modes around ∼ 2400 cm-1of PH3 © 2021, CC0.

Detection of gas concentrations based on age on Staphylococcus aureus biofilms with gas array sensors

Bacteria that have developed in the biofilm phase will be more resistant to antibiotics and emit gases that have certain characteristics. One dose of culture from Trypticase Soy Broth (TSB) (Merck, Germany) was inoculated into 10 mL of Trypticase Soy Broth (TSB) (Merck, Germany) and homogenized for a concentration of 0.5 McFarland (10-13 CFU / mL). The suspension was detected by ELISA reader (λ 595nm)Based on the results that have been obtained, the sensor on the gas array instrument can detect both a variety of distinctive gas patterns in S. Variations in shelf life and variations in the types of samples provided can be tracked both by the entire sensor. This is indicated by the emergence of a unique and different sensor voltage output pattern in each variation. The processing of sensor output using the PCA (Principal Component Analysis) method can accommodate 86.45% of the data variation, including the first component and the second component respectively 70.4% and 18.1%. Through the PCA method, each variation of bacterial treatment can be classified properly, so it can be used to clearly distinguish the age of bacteria and biofilm age. When loading the PCA plot, the MQ2 sensor shows the most responsive results to gas changes. Meanwhile, the MQ136 sensor ranks second as the most responsive sensor to measure the life span of bacteria and biofilms.

The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) will be the next generation gamma-ray observatory, which will consist of three kinds of telescopes of different sizes. Among those, the Large Size Telescope (LST) will be the most sensitive in the low energy range starting from 20 GeV. The prototype LST (LST-1) proposed for CTA was inaugurated in October 2018 in the northern hemisphere site, La Palma (Spain), and is currently in its commissioning phase. MAGIC is a system of two gamma-ray Cherenkov telescopes of the current generation, located approximately 100 m away from LST-1, that have been operating in stereoscopic mode since 2009. Since LST-1 and MAGIC can observe the same air shower events, we can compare the brightness of showers, estimated energies of gamma rays, and other parameters event by event, which can be used to cross-calibrate the telescopes. Ultimately, by performing combined analyses of the events triggering the three telescopes, we can reconstruct the shower geometry more accurately, leading to better energy and angular resolutions, and a better discrimination of the background showers initiated by cosmic rays. For that purpose, as part of the commissioning of LST-1, we performed joint observations of established gamma-ray sources with LST-1 and MAGIC. Also, we have developed Monte Carlo simulations for such joint observations and an analysis pipeline which finds event coincidence in the offline analysis based on their timestamps. In this work, we present the first detection of an astronomical source, the Crab Nebula, with combined observation of LST-1 and MAGIC. BackgroundSystematic reviews (SR), an evidence-synthesis tool, have been increasingly used in toxicology, for regulatory decision-making and allocation of research funding resources. A critical domain of methodological quality is publicly available in the SR protocol that describes the review methods prior to the review. Earlier work showed that only a small number of published SRs in environmental health had identifiable protocols, but did not evaluate their completeness of reporting. Thus, there is a critical need to assess the number of protocols published in peer-reviewed literature related to environmental/occupational toxicology and how much those SR protocols adhere to current reporting standards such as *** overarching objective of this review is to assess the reporting quality of SR protocols in environmental and occupational toxicology, published in peer-reviewed *** and analysisThis protocol has been reported following PRISMA-P and PRISMA-S checklist and study selection, data extraction, and reporting quality assessment were piloted by independent reviewers. Four electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of science, EMBASE) were selected and will be searched for SR protocols using pre-defined strings. Both title/abstract and full-text screening will follow detailed eligibility criteria based on the population concept context (PCC) framework. We will include peer-reviewed, self-identified SR protocols that aim to assess the adverse effects of environmental and occupational exposures. We will perform data extraction using the form that includes general bibliographic information, exposure, adverse effect information, evidence streams, and guidelines/checklists used in protocol reporting or development. A reporting assessment form consisting of 15 PRISMA-P-based items, of which eleven with identical binary responses (reported vs not reported) address critical elements of SR protocol. Biorefining is an essential component for achieving a sustainable economy. This approach makes use of zero-waste technologies and generates renewable energy. Besides converting organic waste into profit, the technology also avoids competition with biomass and different food-based feedstocks, water use, and impacts on biodiversity, making it a viable alternative to energy crops. In this context, anaerobic digestion (AD) allows proper waste management through controlling pollution/waste accumulation and converting organic matter into higher-value products: biogas and biofertilizer. Considering these points, Brazil has substantial agricultural productivity and generates a significant amount of waste residues that has enormous potential for biogas and bioenergy production. Cassava is an important staple crop for the country, particularly in northern and northeastern regions, where it is produced and processed mainly by families on a small-scale. It produces solid residues (peels, stems, and leaves) and wastewater, known as cassava wastewater, which is characterized by a high chemical oxygen demand, many mineral nutrients and cyanide. Nonetheless, all of these residues are usually disposed of in the vicinity without any treatment, rather than being used to produce higher value-added products. Hence, this review explored the potential role of anaerobic digestion for cassava residues management in association with the bio-based circular economy. Overall, the current manuscript emphasized cassava waste residue's potential for biogas generation, process intensification, scale scale-up strategies, and challenges. © 2021 The Authors

Cellular metabolism is dynamic, but quantifying non-steady metabolic fluxes by stable isotope tracers presents unique computational challenges. Here, we developed an efficient 13 C-tracer dynamic metabolic flux analysis (13C-DMFA) framework for modeling central carbon fluxes that vary over time. We used B-splines to generalize the flux parameterization system and to improve the stability of the optimization algorithm. As proof of concept, we investigated how 3T3-L1 cultured adipocytes acutely metabolize glucose in response to insulin. Insulin rapidly stimulates glucose uptake, but intracellular pathways responded with differing speeds and magnitudes. Fluxes in lower glycolysis increased faster than those in upper glycolysis. Glycolysis fluxes rose disproportionally larger and faster than the tricarboxylic acid cycle, with lactate a primary glucose end product. The uncovered array of flux dynamics suggests that glucose catabolism is additionally regulated beyond uptake to help shunt glucose into appropriate pathways. This work demonstrates the value of using dynamic intracellular fluxes to understand metabolic function and pathway regulation.

The purpose of this study is to design a concept of energy management control system (EMCS) at the UNSADA campus, Jakarta, Indonesia by utilizing the results of the previous walkthrough audit. EMCS is an important first step by involving all parties on campus to be concerned the sustainable energy savings. The energy efficiency program utilizes the campus as an energy laboratory to identify, recommend, implement and evaluate the energy consumption, so that the expected energy efficiency targeted by the top managements can be achieved. This program is motivated by several reasons, such as;to support government policies in reducing dependence on fossil energy by implementing energy conservation programs;as a reflection of compliance with the implementation of educational service buildings (including the campus in Jakarta);a vision as the efficient campus in energy consumption that has been determined by the campus management. To achieve these goals, there are four stages to be done;the preparation, the conducting audit, the audit analysis, and the recommendation for implementation. The results provide an overview of the opportunities to save the energy consumption and to develop EMCS by involving all stack-holders on campus. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The association between metal mixtures and kidney function has been reported. However, reports on the mechanism of metal toxicity were limited. Oxidative stress was reported as a possible cause. This study aimed to determine the association between of kidney function and metals, such as arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), selenium (Se), and zinc (Zn), and to explore the possible mediating role of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) between metal toxicity and kidney function. In this study, we recruited 421 adults from a health examination. The concentration of blood metals was analyzed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. We used linear regression models to assess the association between metals and TNF-α. Then, mediation analysis was applied to investigate the relationship between metal exposure, TNF-α, and kidney function. In univariate linear regression, blood As, Cd, Co, Cu, Pb, and Zn levels significantly increased TNF-α and decreased kidney function. Higher blood As and Pb levels significantly increased TNF-α in multivariable linear regressions after adjusting for covariates. We found that blood levels of As (coefficients = -0.021, p = 0.011), Pb (coefficients = -0.060, p < 0.001), and Zn (coefficients = -0.230, p < 0.001) showed a significant negative association with eGFR in the multiple-metal model. Furthermore, mediation analysis showed that TNF-α mediated 41.7 %, 38.8 %, and 20.8 % of blood Cd, As and Pb, respectively. Among the essential elements, TNF-α mediated 24.5 %, 21.5 % and 19.9 % in the effects of blood Co, Cu, and Zn on kidney function, respectively. TNF-α, acting as a mediator, accounted for 20.1 % of the contribution between the WQS score of metal mixtures and the eGFR (p < 0.001). This study suggested that TNF-α may be a persuasive pathway mediating the association between metals and kidney function. Evaluation of phase formation and physical-mechanical properties of Portland cements produced with civil construction waste

Cement is the most widely used building material worldwide. Its production demands a large amount of natural resources, in addition to high energy consumption. Thus, the cement industry has been looking for solutions that effectively reduce the use of these resources as well as greenhouse gas emissions. This research aims to show the technical feasibility of incorporating civil construction waste (CCW) in the production of Portland cement. To this purpose, the physicochemical characterization of the raw materials used was carried out, dosage and manufacture of the raw mix, which were calcined at 1450 °C. Clinkers were characterized mineralogically, by means of XRD, to verify the formation of the crystalline phases. Subsequently, the clinkers were ground, resulting in Portland cements, and their physical-mechanical properties were evaluated. The results showed the potential of using CCW as an alternative raw material, since experimental cements presented performance similar to industrial cements used as a reference.
