Synthesis, characterization, morphological and electrical studies of polypyrrole nanostructures

Conducting polypyrrole was synthesized by three independent methods such as inverse micro emulsion polymerization (MIP), nano polymerization (Nano PPy) and bulk polymerization (Bulk PPy) and the samples were characterized by FESEM, XRD, FTIR and UV-visible Spectroscopy. DC conductivity studies of the samples were investigated by Keithley two probe method and it was found that polypyrrole by MIP method shows highest dc conductivity value as 5.3672 × 10-7Sm-1 while Nano PPy and Bulk PPy as 1.8911 × 10-7 and 0.8564 × 10-7Smˉ1 respectively. In UV-visible spectroscopy, polypyrrole showed absorption peak at 380nm corresponding to π to π* excitation transition which confirms conjugated polypyrrole structure in all samples with absorbance 0.2809, 0.0861 and 0.6142 for MIP PPy, Nano PPy and bulk PPy respectively. FTIR spectra show maximum absorbance for Bulk PPy. Peak at 1457 cm-1, 1557 cm−1 (C=C stretching of pyrrole rings), (N-H bending vibrations), 1376 cm-1 and 1300 cm−1(stretching peaks of C=N and C-N bonds) confirms polypyrrole formation. FESEM images of polypyrrole shows spherical morphology for MIP PPy and Bulk PPy while nano PPy possess globular morphology with agglomeration of particles; with particle size in nano range. The peaks obtained for all polypyrrole samples were broad in X-ray diffraction studies confirming its amorphous nature. It also indicates poor crystallinity and short range arrangement of PPy chains.

The aim of this work was to study the incorporation of lead containing TV tube glass waste as a method to provide alternative raw material for aluminous electrical porcelain. For this purpose, aluminous porcelain formulations containing up to 30 wt.% of TV tube glass waste as a replacement for traditional flux material (sodium feldspar) were pressed and fired in air at 1300 ºC using a fast-firing cycle (11 Ω.cm have high potential to work as electrical insulator material. This use of lead containing TV tube glass waste can contribute greatly to reducing the environmental impacts related to it, and also save the sources of non-renewable raw materials used in the electrical porcelain sector. © 2017 Universidade Federal de Sao Carlos. The mechanical strength of pulp capping material based on carbonate apatite and silica calcium-phosphate composite (CO3Ap-SCPC) is one of the key factors for the success of the material in protecting the vitality of the pulp during the formation of apatite and dentin reparative. Modifying the material in the powder phase was known to increase the mechanical strength. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the addition of SCPC and calcium hydroxide in pulp capping materials based on CO3Ap-SCPC would affect the compressive strength of this pulp capping material. In this study, three cement groups were used, each group consisted of dicalcium phosphate anhydrous and vaterite which added by SCPC concentration 0%, 5% and 10% and calcium hydroxide concentration 0%, 5% and 10%, respectively. All groups were tested by a compressive strength test and X-Ray diffraction (XRD) for phase analysis. The mean value of compressive strength with addition of 0% SCPC and 10% Ca(OH)2 was 16.54 ± 1.35 MPa, addition of 5% SCPC and 5% Ca(OH)2 was 18.55 ± 2.81 MPa, addition of 10% SCPC and 0% Ca(OH)2 was 9.22 ± 1.21 MPa. The addition of SCPC and Ca(OH)2 show statistically significant in compressive strength (p2 could improve the mechanical strength and the apatite formation of the CO3Ap-SCPC pulp capping material. © 2018 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Modern cosmological research still thoroughly debates the discrepancy between local probes and the Cosmic Microwave Background observations in the Hubble constant ( H 0 ) measurements, ranging from 4 to 6 σ . In the current study, we examine this tension using the Supernovae Ia (SNe Ia) data from the Pantheon, Pantheon+ (P+), Joint Lightcurve Analysis (JLA), and Dark Energy Survey, (DES) catalogs combined together into the so-called Master Sample. The sample contains 3714 SNe Ia, and is divided all of them into redshift-ordered bins. Three binning techniques are presented: the equi-population, the moving window (MW), and the equi-spacing in the log ⁡ − z . We perform a Markov-Chain Monte Carlo analysis (MCMC) for each bin to determine the H 0 value, estimating it within the standard flat ΛCDM and the w 0 w a CDM models. These H 0 values are then fitted with the following phenomenological function: H 0 ( z ) = H ˜ 0 / ( 1 + z ) α , where H ˜ 0 is a free parameter representing H 0 ( z ) fitted in z = 0 , and α is the evolutionary parameter. Our results indicate a decreasing trend characterized by α ∼ 0.01 , whose consistency with zero ranges from 1 σ in 5 cases to 1 case at 3 σ and 11 cases at > 3 σ in several samples and configurations. Such a trend in the SNe Ia catalogs could be due to evolution with redshift for the astrophysical variables or unveiled selection biases. Alternatively, intrinsic physics, possibly the f ( R ) theory of gravity, could be responsible for this trend.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the P4 suicide screener in a multinational sample. The primary goal was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale and investigate its convergent validity by analyzing its correlation with depression, anxiety, and substance use. Study design: The study design is a cross-sectional self-report study conducted across 42 countries. Methods: A cross-sectional, self-report study was conducted in 42 countries, with a total of 82,243 participants included in the final data set. Results: The study provides an overview of suicide ideation rates across 42 countries and confirms the structural validity of the P4 screener. The findings indicated that sexual and gender minority individuals exhibited higher rates of suicidal ideation. The P4 screener showed adequate reliability, convergence, and discriminant validity, and a cutoff score of 1 is recommended to identify individuals at risk of suicidal behavior. Conclusions: The study supports the reliability and validity of the P4 suicide screener across 42 diverse countries, highlighting the importance of using a cross-cultural suicide risk assessment to standardize the identification of high-risk individuals and tailoring culturally sensitive suicide prevention strategies. © 2024 The Royal Society for Public Health

Native plants from the Brazilian Amazon Biome are rich in nutrients, oils and fats and, therefore, represent a very important regional food resource. There is a global interest in the nutritional potential of tropical fruits, the potential of Amazonian fruits as source of essential fatty acids is still under exploited, since their composition is still understudied.1H Magnetic Resonance Nuclear (1H NMR) is a robust spectroscopic tool to profile fatty acids components in oils. The objectives of this work were to use1H NMR to determine the fatty acids profile and the physicochemical properties of crude oils and fats obtained from fruits of Brazilian Amazon: açaí, ata-brava, bacaba, buriti, buritirana, yellow murici, red murici, piaçaba braba, tucumanzinho, pupunha red and yellow varieties. Oils were obtained by Soxhlet extraction using hexane as a solvent. After solvent removal by rotoevaporation, the resulting oils and fats were analyzed by1H NMR spectroscopy. Unsaturated fatty acids oleic (?9), linoleic (?6) and linolenic (?3) acids were quantified in the oils and their physicochemical properties were determined. It was observed that the oils have predominately ?9 fatty acids, followed by ?6 and ?3 representatives. The physicochemical properties confirmed edibility and good quality of oils and fats present in the aforementioned Amazonian fruits. Copyright © 2018, AIDIC Servizi S.r.l.

This work investigates strategic management processes of projects involved in the Brazilian aerospace field, addressing the Regional Center of the Amazon of the National Institute of Space Research. It proposes an approach in the monitoring of the evolution of projects by evaluation of professional performance, showing results in graphs and the need to survey and follow the most evident and significant technological advances in the mapping environment of land use and land cover in the Amazon. It addresses the main difficulties faced in the process of managing projects and people to achieve goals, needing to know the Geographic Information System tools used by employees, such as Terramazon, and their respective times consumed in this type of software. The work intends to serve as a basis for investigating, developing and implementing new management options that will reduce the efforts required by managers and administrators during the process of monitoring the evolution of projects. The methodology of Project Management Institute (PMI) and its Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) was used in this research work, ensuring an international quality.

Improved separation of Ce, La, and Nd from a concentrate of rare-earth hydroxide via fractional precipitation

In this report, we describe the selective and effective separation of Ce, La, and Nd rare-earth (RE) elements from the concentrate of a RE hydroxide (REOH) feedstock. The separation steps included dissolving the feedstock into a nitric acid solution and oxidizing the solution with potassium bromate (KBrO3) as an oxidizing agent to enable precipitation under the addition of sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The yellow precipitates consisted of a concentrate of Ce precipitates, and the filtrate contained La and Nd. The adjustment of the pH of the filtrate to 8.5 with ammonia solution led to the precipitation of Nd and an La concentrate in the filtrate. The developed method was demonstrated to be selective and adequate for the qualification separation of Ce, La, and Nd. This study demonstrates the identification and analysis of REOH from PTBGN-BATAN, Indonesia, and can be used as a reference for further processing at both the laboratory and industrial scale.

The Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) is an instrument to screen substance-use-related health risks. However, little is known whether the ASSIST could be further shortened while remaining psychometrically sound across different countries, languages, gender identities, and sexual-orientation-based groups. The study aimed to validate a shortened 11-item ASSIST (ASSIST-11). Using the International Sex Survey data, 82,243 participants (M _age = 32.39 years) across 42 countries and 26 languages completed questions from the ASSIST-11 regarding gender identity, sexual orientation, and other information. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and multigroup CFA (MGCFA) evaluated the ASSIST-11's structure and tested measurement invariance across groups. Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω were used to examine the internal consistency. Cohen's d and independent t-tests were used to examine known-group validity. The ASSIST-11 was unidimensional across countries, languages, age groups, gender identities (i.e., men, women, and gender-diverse individuals), and sexual orientations (i.e., heterosexual and sexual minority individuals). Cronbach's α was 0.63 and McDonald's ω was 0.68 for the ASSIST-11. Known-group validity was supported by Cohen's d (range between 0.23 and 0.40) with significant differences (p-values<0.001). The ASSIST-11 is a modified instrument with a unidimensional factor structure across different languages, age groups, countries, gender identities, and sexual orientations. The low internal consistency of the ASSIST-11 might be acceptable as it assesses a broad concept (i.e., use of several different substances). Healthcare providers and researchers may use the ASSIST-11 to quickly assess substance-use information from general populations and evaluate the need to follow up with more detailed questions about substance use. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

The safety of inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) remains a critical challenge for their clinical translation. To address this, we developed a machine learning (ML) framework that predicts NP toxicity both and , leveraging physicochemical properties and experimental conditions. A curated cytotoxicity dataset was used to train and validate binary classification models, with top-performing models undergoing explainability analysis to identify key determinants of toxicity and establish structure-toxicity relationships. External testing with diverse inorganic NPs validated the predictive accuracy of the framework for settings. To enable organ-specific toxicity predictions , we integrated a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model into the ML pipeline to quantify NP exposure across organs. Retraining the ML models with PBPK-derived exposure metrics yielded robust predictions of organ-specific nanotoxicity, further validating the framework. This PBPK-informed ML approach can thus serve as a potential alternative approach to streamline NP safety assessment, enabling the rational design of safer NPs and expediting their clinical translation.
