Analysis of Student Concepts Understanding in Solving Scientific Literacy on the Topic of Momentum and Impulse

This study aims to analyze students' concepts understanding in solving scientific literacy on the topic of momentum and impulses. The subjects in this study were 124 students from 4 senior high schools in Sragen. The instrument used in this study was 10 questions in the form of an essay test. The results of the analysis show that 70 (56.45%) of students have conceptual understanding in solving scientific literacy competencies as interpreting scientific data on the subtopic of conservation of momentum and collisions, 30 (24.19%) of students have conceptual understanding in solving scientific literacy competencies as scientific design on the subtopic of impulses, and 24 (19.35%) of students have a conceptual understanding in solving scientific literacy competencies as explaining scientific phenomena on the subtopic of momentum. This shows that some students still do not have a conceptual understanding in solving scientific literacy problems on the topic of momentum and impulses

The identification of high school students' knowledge of newton's law of science literacy using a test based on nature of science (NOS)

Science literacy shows that students should be familiar with the most basic principles of science, one of which is Newton's Law. The purpose of this research is to determine the ability of high school students in Newton's Law of science literacy using a test based on Nature Of Science (NOS). The NOS-based instrument consists of 25 multiple-choice test items with 4 alternative options modified by Nature of Science Literacy Test (NOSLiT) and is specifically developed on Newton's Law. The subjects of this study are 110 high school students of the IPA program. Data collection techniques were performed using tests based on NOS-based instruments and interviews using questionnaires. The method of his research used descriptive qualitative. The results show that the average percentage of students who answered correctly was 38.73% of 110 students. The highest average percentage was shown in the scientific disposition framework is 53.33% of students answered correctly, and the lowest in the major misconception about science framework is 23.93%. Based on the results of the study can be concluded that students who can't answer correctly about the NOS are the students who are less able to understand the language of the questions presented in the instrument NOS. Other factors that influence student performance in answering questions on the NOS are knowledge of science that is still less widespread, low student understanding and still many misconceptions on Newton's law. It can be said that the student has a low literacy ability in science.

Comprehending the problem-solving process is an effort that is no less important than teaching problem-solving skills at school. By understanding the problem-solving process, it will be easier to teach at school. Several neurological studies discuss activities in solving problems, but the scope of the discussion is narrow and in-depth. On the other hand, it requires complete information about how the problem-solving process is a complex cognitive process. This research is a systematic literature review using the PRISMA approach. The result shows that the problem-solving skills were developing based on ages of development. The effectiveness of problem-solving skills is characterized by minimal brain activity but produces the right solution. In addition, the result of the review shows that semantic ability and mathematical logic ability play an important role in a problem solving process. Getting complete problem solving process needs many parts of the brain. DLPFC and IFG are the dominant parts of the brain in the process of solving problems.

The aim of this research were to improve students' critical thinking and to know students' responses in applying mobile learning RPG-based maker MV in Ecosystem learning. This research is experimental research by using quasi-experimental design with Randomized control-Group Pretest posttest. The data was taken qualitatively by using observation results during students' learning, students' response questionnaire in experiencing mobile learning RPG based maker MV, and quantitative data of students' critical thinking ability. The research findings showed (1) applying mobile learning RPG based maker MV had medium level, (2) Mobile learning RPG maker MV had improved students' critical thinking, and (3) Students' result after using this aplication of Ecosystem learning system in a good level or in the highest score.

This study aims to analyze students problem solving skill in solving analytical problem solving test on the topic of thermodynamics. The research approach used is quantitative with descriptive method. The research subjects were 100 students of senior high school in Ngawi. Instrument test research used analytical problem solving test was modified of national examination test. Instrument test in the form of essay test which measure of 4 indicator problem solving skill by G Polya : (1) Understanding the Problem, (2) Devising plan, (3) Carrying out the plan, (4) Looking Back. The results show that percentage achievement of understanding the problem (58.40%), Devising plan (70.92%), Carrying out the plan (65.52%), looking back (42.88%). It shows that the student problem solving skill of senior high school in Ngawi is still moderate category so it's necessary to do improvement effort.

Detection of gas concentrations based on age on Staphylococcus aureus biofilms with gas array sensors

Bacteria that have developed in the biofilm phase will be more resistant to antibiotics and emit gases that have certain characteristics. One dose of culture from Trypticase Soy Broth (TSB) (Merck, Germany) was inoculated into 10 mL of Trypticase Soy Broth (TSB) (Merck, Germany) and homogenized for a concentration of 0.5 McFarland (10-13 CFU / mL). The suspension was detected by ELISA reader (λ 595nm)Based on the results that have been obtained, the sensor on the gas array instrument can detect both a variety of distinctive gas patterns in S. Variations in shelf life and variations in the types of samples provided can be tracked both by the entire sensor. This is indicated by the emergence of a unique and different sensor voltage output pattern in each variation. The processing of sensor output using the PCA (Principal Component Analysis) method can accommodate 86.45% of the data variation, including the first component and the second component respectively 70.4% and 18.1%. Through the PCA method, each variation of bacterial treatment can be classified properly, so it can be used to clearly distinguish the age of bacteria and biofilm age. When loading the PCA plot, the MQ2 sensor shows the most responsive results to gas changes. Meanwhile, the MQ136 sensor ranks second as the most responsive sensor to measure the life span of bacteria and biofilms.

Analytical solution of the proca equation for the modified posch teller potential

We study the solution of the Proca equation for the modified Posch Teller potential. Proca equation is a relativistic wave equation for a massive spin-1 particle. Proca equation also describes the imaginary mass of photons. Vector fields are used to describe spin-1 mesons. The hypergeometric method was used to solve the Proca equation to obtain the relativistic energy and wave function of the particle. This work is limited to radial part of the spherical coordinate system. Using the improved approximation scheme to deal with the centrifugal term, we solve approximately the Proca equation for the modified Posch Teller potential. The relativistic energy eigenvalue and radial wave function equations are obtained.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Phet simulation applications on smartphones Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning models of students' learning independence and the different effects of learning independence. The type of research applied was quasi experiment. Research design used Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study was all students of class X of MAN 3 Sleman which was divided into 8 classes. The sampling technique used cluster purposive sampling. Both classes are given treatment with the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Phet application which was installed on each student's smartphone. The average level of learning independence of students in the modelling class after they participated in learning activities included in the good category, and in the implementation, class included in the good category. The significance level shows the numbers in the effective category. So it can be stated that the learning independence questionnaire of both classes was effective, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Phets application is effective in terms of the achievement of the learning independence of students in class X of MAN 3 Sleman in the academic year 2017/2018.

Analysis of seismicity level and return period of bengkulu area earthquake from 1960-2017

In this research, seismicity and the return period of earthquake in Bengkulu and surrounding areas has been analyzed using the relationship between the frequency and the magnitude of earthquakes. Study area is at coordinate points of 1,1-6,4° SL and 99,5° - 104,9° EL, whereas the earthquake data used is limited only to 5.0 SR magnitude and 100 km depth from 1960-2017 sourced catalog data from United States Geological Survey (USGS) and using the Zmap Matlab 2007Rb software program. The analysis results that spatial variation b-value is 0,6–2, a-value is 5-15 while magnitude of Completeness is 5,1. And return period of earthquake with magnitude 5 ranges from 0,2-0,5 years, magnitude 5,5 ranges from 1,5-3,5 2-4 years, magnitude 6 ranges from 6-12 years, magnitude 6,5 ranges from15-25 years and magnitude 7 ranges from 10-20 years, magnitude 7,5 ranges from 30-50 years, and magnitude 8 and 8,5 ranges from 100-150 years. Hence the results show that Bengkulu area is an area with high stress level and relatives high magnitude level.

Problem-Based Learning with Argumentation Skills to Improve Students' Concept Understanding

Understanding students' concepts can be achieved well, one of them is by applying Problem Based Learning. With Problem Based Learning, students can be actively involved in learning. This article discusses the Problem Based Learning that applies argumentation skills to improve understanding of the buoyant style concept of high school students. With the right learning steps in accordance with the syntax of Problem Based Learning, understanding of concepts will be achieved in students. Besides that, it involves students' skills in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. One of the skills analyzed is argumentation skills. In this study, the argumentation skill in problem-based learning is high, which is 0.639 which means that the relationship between the skills of argumentation in problem-based learning is very good. Each activity is expected to facilitate students to develop an understanding of students' scientific concepts such as observing, concluding, predicting, asking questions, constructing hypotheses, designing experiments, applying concepts, and communicating. Problem Based Learning with argumentation skills can improve students' understanding of concepts.
