Plant-based milk alternatives are in the spotlight of novelty and Amazonian nut has a great potential for the preparation of these beverages. In the present study, extraction of Amazonian nut was carried out with water and creaming index was evaluated. Hydroethanolic annatto extract was subjected to spectrophotometric analysis in order to determine bixin content. Annatto nanodispersions were prepared through a low energy method involving stepwise addition of deionized water to organic phase. Dynamic light scattering analysis was performed for particle size distribution and encapsulation efficiency determined by ultracentrifugation. In the present paper, we prepared an Amazonian-nut milk alternative, being the prototype added of annatto nanodispersion. Sensory analysis with untrained panelists was performed. Nanosizing (diameter < 300 nm and polydispersity index < 0.400) of annatto extract was reached and toxicity assay of the nanodispersion prepared with annatto extract, polysorbate 80/sorbitan monooleate (HLB = 13), and propyleneglycol at a 2:1:1 ratio indicated no mortality in both gender of zebrafish. Attributes of color, aroma, flavor texture, overall opinion, and intention of purchasing revealed, together with consumer's acceptance, that a suitable Amazonian nut plant-based milk alternative could be reached, contributing to an integrated approach of using two Amazonian raw materials of economic interest for food purposes. © 2023 The Author(s)

Flow patterns are found in many processes involving multiphase flows in the industry. This experimental investigation focuses on the behavior of the vorticity fields found in the liquid-vapor interface during flow boiling of R-600a with heat flux varying from 5 to 20 kW/m 2 and fixed mass flux of 890 kg/(m 2 s) at a saturation temperature of 17 ∘ C. Tests were performed in a horizontal tube with 1.0 mm ID. Four different flow patterns were identified based on images, and the vorticity fields were investigated using an optical flow method. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Recent technological advancements have paved the way for the optimization of medical processes, particularly automated disease detection. Moreover, the adoption of machine learning (ML) has greatly helped in automating disease detection. Such approaches can detect various diseases early, enabling timely treatment to save countless lives. Early and accurate diagnosis is very important for diseases like monkeypox, to curb its spread. Monkeypox is a viral disease caused by double-stranded DNA and can be transmitted through close contact with infected humans or animals. It’s early identification and accurate lesion diagnosis are critical to contain the disease. This study proposes an automated approach to optimize the diagnosis of monkeypox disease using a novel vision transformer, which is utilized due to its effectiveness for feature extraction. The Proposed approach’s efficiency and accuracy are tested on a public benchmark dataset comprising a variety of skin lesions of different ages and genders. In addition, data augmentation involves rotation, scaling, and flipping thereby enhancing the density of the training data set for better generalization of ML models. Experiments involve binary, as well as, multi-class classification. For the binary class, the proposed model achieves an accuracy of 97.63%, outperforming traditional ML and deep learning (DL) techniques. In the case of multi-class classification with monkeypox, measles, normal, HFMD, cowpox, and chickenpox classes, the proposed model archives an accuracy of 90.61% while precision, recall, and F1 scores are 91.39%, 89.17%, and 90.28%, respectively. Furthermore, the proposed approach shows average accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scores of 97.54%, 96.19%, 95.16%, and 95.67%, respectively for five-fold cross-validation. Developing successful breakthrough innovations is a challenge for industrial firms due to the high degree of uncertainty and complexity involved. This difficulty is heightened by the rapid development of information and communication technologies, which has disrupted many traditional industries and has forced companies to adopt more radical approaches to innovation. To investigate the role of technological capabilities in digital disruption, the present study employs an in-depth qualitative case study of Perfect Corporation. We analyze how the market environment, strategies, business models, processes, and competencies, and organizational structure influence the company's ability to develop successful breakthrough innovations. Our findings reveal that Perfect Corporation has established and sustained a competitive advantage by observing market trends, leveraging its parent company's breakthrough technologies, and strategically positioning itself in the fashion technology sector. Our results contribute to the fields of breakthrough innovation and digital disruption. © 2024 Elsevier Inc.

In the past decade, it stated that the discourse on Sustainable Development and the Financial technology(FinTech) role in the financial and banking industries, has attention on researchers, practitioners, regulators, and policymakers. The real problem arises from the discourse on whether FinTech has an effect on sustainable development in the financial and banking industry in Indonesia. This discourse needed to be understood better and more deeply. For credible research results, it is necessary to use a mixedmethod research approach. This research aims to develop a model that will help uncover the phenomenon of FinTech to sustainable development in the Financial and Banking Industry in Indonesia, using mixed methods research. In this study, Exploratory Sequential Mixed Method used as a type of mixedmethod approach. The main results of this study reveal that FinTech, which is influenced by business drivers, has a significant role in sustainable development in the Financial and Banking Industry in Indonesia. The contribution of this research can provide insight and understanding for researchers and practitioners in the financial and banking industry who want to implement a sustainable development model based on FinTech in more depth. © 2020 IEEE.

It is inevitable for modern organizations to deal with multiple institutional logics in their daily operations. Social enterprises have a dual focus on solving social problems and being financially sustainable;as a result, it has become crucial for them to respond to these social conflicts rooted in multiple institutional logics. The relevant extant literature pays more attention to resolving institutional logic conflicts while there is a need to discuss and examine how multiple institutional logics interact with each other. A representative social enterprise in Taiwan, CAN Culture Art and Nature, was selected as the case study. Qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviews with stakeholders, participant observations inside the organization as well as second-hand data examination, are undertook to collect data. The inductive approach based on the grounded theory is employed for data analysis. Our research findings show that CAN uses three strategies in response to multiple institutional logics, in order to create a cycle which embraces a variety of resources in practice. In addition, this research proposes the “symbiosis” strategy to respond conflicts among multiple institutional logics for social enterprises. The managerial implications to social enterprises and non-profit organizations are also proposed in this paper. © 2021 Chinese management Association. All Rights Reserved.

Tannins are a type of organic compound commonly found in various plant-based foods and beverages. The majority of species in the plant kingdom comprise tannins, which serve as a defense against predators. Tannins also play a role in regulating plant growth and development, while having a protective function against ultraviolet radiation. The phenolic structure of tannins has also the potential to be used in food, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries. Tannins exhibit a high level of biological activity. Therefore, a number of advantages such as antioxidant, anticancer, anti-allergic, and antimicrobial properties, have been verified in recent research. Thus, they are widely used in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and food industries. In addition, the use of tannins as film and coating matrices, antimicrobial and antioxidant agents can enhance the quality of food. However, extraction and purification of tannins are challenging owing to their strong polarity, large molecular weight and complicated structure. Various advanced methods can be employed for the extraction and purification of tannins, depending on the source material and desired application, including solvent extraction, chromatographic methods, super critical, ionic liquid assisted microwave, infrared-assisted extraction technique etc. In particular, supercritical fluid extraction, using CO₂ under specific pressure and temperature conditions, is gaining popularity due to its eco-friendliness and efficiency. This review presents structure and classification of tannins, their extraction techniques, potential properties of tannins as a preservative agent and possible health benefits of tannins with clinical trials. © 2025 The Author(s)
