This study, using the Naïve Bayes classifier, proposes a new descriptive model for conducting a comparative review analysis on the tourism domain. The proposed model seeks to improve the understanding of tourists' experiences by visually representing their opinions between various tourist destinations. The model predicts the sentiment of tourist reviews using the Naive Bayes classifier, which is then used to generate visualizations that facilitate comparative analysis. The comparison takes two tourism sites as experimental examples. The results, in terms of accuracy, show 80% and 64% for the first and the second site respectively. The study discusses the model's implementation, effectiveness, and potential applications in the tourism industry. The findings of the study suggest that the proposed model can provide valuable insights into tourist experiences and help tourism stakeholders, such as the managements of tourism sites, the future or soon coming tourists to make informed decisions based on comparative analysis.

Oceanic Rossby waves play a crucial role in shaping the physical and biological dynamics of both open and coastal oceans, especially within the tropical band spanning between the 10°S and 10°N parallels. Yet, the extent to which Rossby waves can transmit and impact the hydrography and ecosystem of semi-enclosed seas like the South China Sea (SCS) remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the transmission of Rossby waves through the Philippine archipelago, using satellite altimeter-derived sea level anomaly (SLA) and coastal tide gauge records. Our findings reveal that westward-propagating Rossby waves in the tropical Pacific Ocean with a wave speed of ~0.64 m s−1 first entered the Celebes Sea, and then passed through the Sibutu Passage into the Sulu Sea from April to December 2017. Subsequently, the waves propagated along the northeast coast of Sabah and the east coast of Palawan before exiting through the Mindoro Strait to the central SCS. Additionally, a β-refracted Rossby wave with wave speed of 0.28 m s−1 also penetrated the archipelago but at a higher latitude from July to November via Surigao Strait and propagated toward the south and north of Palawan, ultimately reaching the west coast of Palawan in the eastern central SCS. © 2023, The Authors. Congestion control algorithms exist for decades to prevent package loss in intense traffic networks. Several solutions developed over the years tried to solve this problem, including the creation of new algorithms. However, hybrid wired and wireless networks, or wired-cum-wireless, common in modern days, bring new challenges to programmers and engineers who try to overcome the numerous new problems that this kind of network presents. This work carries out a performance comparison, in a wired-cum-wireless network, using TCP congestion control algorithms variants: New Reno and CUBIC. The comparison is to determine which of those algorithms performs better in several situations, like multiple disconnections caused by mobility, interference and congested links. The results showed that the CUBIC is a more stable and fair algorithm, but it has a significantly less data flow than New Reno.

PuO2 and AmO2 solid solutions: (Pu, Am)O2 are one of the candidates of fuels in a sub-critical accelerator-driven system (ADS). To understand the fuel performance, the thermophysical properties such as thermal conductivity and heat capacity are quite important. However, it is very hard to experimentally determine the physical properties of plutonium as well as americium compounds due to their handling-difficulties. Molecular dynamics (MD) would be a specific method to describe the physical properties of such materials. In the present study, we have investigated thermophysical properties of PuO2, AmO2, and their solid solutions in the temperature range from 300 to 2,500 K. The lattice parameter, compressibility, heat capacity, linear thermal expansion coefficient, and thermal conductivity were evaluated. A Morse-type potential function added to the Busing-Ida type potential was employed as the potential for interatomic interactions. The calculated lattice parameters of (Pu, Am)O2 obeyed Vegard's law, and the values increased with temperature. The heat capacities of (Pu, Am)O 2 were similar in any compositions. The thermal conductivities of (Pu, Am)O2 were lower than those of PuO2 and AmO 2, indicating that a point-defect scattering effect of phonons could be realized in the MD calculations. © 2008 Materials Research Society.

The aim was to analyze the bioactive potential of hexane and ethanolic extracts from leaves of Annona hypoglauca, Roraima, Brazil, against fungi (Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium proliferatum) and yeast (Candida albicans) and gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus sanguinis) and gram-negative (Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium), antioxidant, antiacetylcholinesterase and cytotoxic activities against Artemia salina, in addition to verify a phytochemical screening. Antioxidant activity of the leaves ethanolic extract 51% to 50 µg mL-1, 16% at the same concentration for the hexane extract. The antiacetylcholinesterase activity presented high variation of the ethanolic extract and 59.76% in the hexane extract. The cytotoxic activity against A. salina was more efficient for the ethanolic extract of the leaves in 27% to 500 µg mL-1. The bioactivity of fungi and yeasts, the ethanolic extract of the leaves of A. hypoglauca showed no inhibition on the fungi F. proliferatum and A. flavus, but the hexane extract inhibited 40.0% and 59.5% on these fungi, respectively. For the inhibition of C. albicans, the extracts hexane (94.5-96.9%) and ethanolic (89.2-92.6%) of the leaves of A. hypoglauca, at all concentrations. Excellent inhibitions on gram-positive bacteria were given by the hexane extract in 100% to 500 µg mL-1, but low inhibition for the ethanolic extract for S. aureus in 21.6% to 125 µg mL-1 and for S. Sanguinis 35.5% to 500 µg mL-1. Inhibitions on gram-negative bacteria varied from 26.1% to 42.4% in ethanolic extract and 10.7% to 18.6% in hexanic extract for E. coli;as inhibition of S. typhimurium occurred from 9.3% to 61.1% in ethanolic extract and from 9.1% to 41.2% in hexane extract. Regarding phytochemical screening, the class of compounds observed qualitatively suggests the presence of saponins, flavonoids, triterpenoids and tannins. Copyright © 2018, AIDIC Servizi S.r.l.

Entikong Sub-district in Sanggau District is one of the areas directly adjacent to Malaysia (Sarawak) and the first and oldest cross-border entrance in Indonesia. Different characteristics from other regions (factor of production immobilities, transaction costs and delays, different economic systems, institutional issues, zoning, and the role of the informal sectors) drive the region's economic is functioning internal also external. Economic perspectives in the border region are tend to increase. The overlapping of unclear land uses, causing the development of border areas to be improperly planned with the implications of natural resource degradation and environmental quality, and not achieving improved community welfare, dehumanization and deculturization processes, and macro leads to regional disintegration (especially Economically). The emphasis on this research is more on the environmental impacts of the Entikong border community making land change. The research objectives of this study identified the impact of land use change in the Entikong District border area to the community so that people can be more efficient and effective in protecting the environment. The analytical method used in the questionnaire survey used an Adkins and Burke Scale Weight Checklist impact questionnaire. This technique is an estimating environmental impact with scale made up to five. The impact components used are grouped into: either transportation, environmental, sociology, or economy. This method is very simple, in the form of a list of environmental components used to determine which components will be affected. First made a list of the various impacts that may be occured related to the planning and alternative plannuing. In California's Central Valley, water management and crop health, particularly in rice cultivation, are critical. This paper details the application of Earth surface Mineral dust source InvesTigation (EMIT) hyperspectral imaging, specifically employing Spectral Correlation Mapper (SCM) and Spectral Information Divergence (SID), for precise phenological analysis. By aligning EMIT data with Hyperion satellite references, we address spectral and geographical discrepancies. Our methodology includes seasonal sampling of spectral curves to capture the phenological stages of rice. Results show a strong correlation (R 2 = 0.86) between August EMIT and Reference dataset, emphasizing EMIT's utility in enhancing agricultural practices and water efficiency in the region, and highlighting the importance of understanding rice phenology for sustainable farming.

Associations between parental and postnatal metal mixture exposure and developmental delays in a Taiwanese longitudinal birth cohort of preschool children

Studies have evaluated the impact of environmental exposure to neurotoxic metals on developmental delays (DDs). However, comprehensive understanding regarding the associations between parental and postnatal exposure to metal mixtures and the occurrence of DDs in offspring is limited. In this study, we assessed the relationships between parental and postnatal exposure to three metals (arsenic [As], cadmium [Cd], and lead [Pb], levels of which were measured in toenails) and suspected DDs (SDDs) in preschool children within a Taiwanese longitudinal birth cohort. In total between 2017 and 2021, 154 pairs of parents and their children under the age of 6 years were recruited, and 462 toenail samples and 154 completed questionnaires were collected. Metal concentrations in toenails were quantified using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry after acid digestion of the toenails. We applied multivariable logistic regression and Bayesian kernel machine regression to evaluate the overall effect and to identify key components of the metal mixture that were associated with the SDD risk. Higher concentrations of As, Cd, and Pb were found in the toenails of the parents of children with SDDs compared with the toenails of the parents of children without SDDs. Our examination of the combined effects of exposure to the metal mixture revealed that As concentration in the father’s toenail and Cd concentration in the mother’s toenail were positively correlated with the risk of SDDs in their offspring. Notably, the effect of exposure to the metal mixture on the risk of SDDs was stronger in boys than in girls. Our findings suggest that parents taking measures to minimize their exposure to metals might enhance their children’s developmental outcomes. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
