A next-generation medium-energy gamma-ray telescope targeting the MeV range would address open questions in astrophysics regarding how extreme conditions accelerate cosmic-ray particles, produce relativistic jet outflows, and more. One concept, AMEGO-X, relies upon the mission-enabling CMOS Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor silicon chip AstroPix. AstroPix is designed for space-based use, featuring low noise, low power consumption, and high scalability. Desired performance of the device include an energy resolution of 5 keV (or 10% FWHM) at 122 keV and a dynamic range per-pixel of 25 − 700 keV, enabled by the addition of a high-voltage bias to each pixel which supports a depletion depth of 500 μm. This work reports on the status of the AstroPix development process with emphasis on the current version under test, version three (v3), and highlights of version two (v2). Version 3 achieves energy resolution of 10.4 ± 3.2% at 59.5 keV and 94 ± 6 μm depletion in a low-resistivity test silicon substrate. © 2025, CC BY.

This study investigated the action of proteolytic enzymes in the production of goat viscera hydrolysates,and their flavoring *** study focus the production of flavor precursor molecules and the formation of volatile compounds resulting from four hydrolysis treatments:HA-Alcalase®,HF-Flavourzyme®,HN-Neutrase®,and HFN-Flavourzyme® and Neutrase®.The highest degree of hydrolysis (26.74%),number (23 volatiles) and concentration of volatile compounds (274.0 μg/L) were obtained with the action of *** main classes of volatile compounds identified in hydrolysates included acids,aldehydes,pyrazines,terpenes and Streacker *** acids,sugars and fatty acids were identified with higher concentrations in HF and HFN hydrolysates due to the low participation of these precursors in the formation of volatile ***,the use of Alcalase in the proteolysis of goat viscera stood out compared to other enzymes,providing impacting aroma compounds,such as pyrazines,for meat flavor.

The goals of the paper were to describe were and find the relations between numbers of available public transportation and traffic congestion and other variables that can reduce traffic congestion in Jakarta. The data that used in the simulation were provided by DKI Jakarta Provincial Statistics Agency from view years ago. To analyze the problem, System Dynamics are used to simulate the condition in the future using the models created based on relations between several variables. The results of the analysis shows that numbers of available public transportation cannot reduce traffic congestion if the numbers of private transportation weren't decreased. It can be concluded that government must force their citizen to reduce the number of private transportation by increasing the inflation supported by increasing numbers of available public transportation to accommodate deficit in transportation while building new roads to accommodate transportation growth in the future. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Analysis of the combined injection of pulverized coal and charcoal into large blast furnaces

The simultaneous injection of pulverized coal and charcoal in the blast furnace has recently received remarkable attention due to its potential to decrease the coke consumption and increase productivity. This paper is focused on modeling the simultaneous injection of pulverized coal and charcoal into the blast furnace through the tuyeres with oxygen enrichment. This model treats the blast furnace as a multi-phase reactor and six phases are considered simultaneously, namely: gas, lump solids (lump iron ore, sinter, pellets, coke and small coke), hot metal, molten slag, pulverized coal and charcoal. Conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy and chemical species are solved simultaneously based on the finite volume method. The model is validated with a base case of actual operation using 215 kg/thm of pulverized coal injection and afterwards mixed injection of coal and charcoal are simulated for injection rate of 250 kg/thm. Model results indicated that the productivity of the blast furnace could be increased up to 25% with simultaneous injection combined with oxygen enrichment. © 2013 Brazilian Metallurgical, Materials and Mining Association.

This study aims to obtain dye (batik waste water) treatment by electrocoagulation with optimal results. The performance of electrocoagulation process was carried out in batch reactor. Four variables were taken which thought to greatly influence the electrocoagulation process, such as: distance between electrodes, voltage, acidity (pH) and electrolysis time. In this process, samples of 20 mL were taken out from the batch at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 dan 50 minutes of contact time. Results obtained show that the most effective removal efficiency could be achieved at alkaline condition. Research that has been done shows that the percentage of wastewater treatment results is strongly influenced by the four variable changes. The study demonstrated that the lowest degradation efficiency occours at acid pH, while an increase temperature has only a slight effect on the electrocoagulation process. The maximum results from the electrocoagulation processes was obtained, with determine by measurement of chemical oxygen demand (COD). The results showed that, iron is better used as an anode than zinc. The effectiveness electrocoagulation reached optimal at 96.54% (at Fe anode) and 81.65% (at Zn anode), at alkaline condition (pH > 9), electrolysis time of 30 minutes, electrode distance of 1 cm and temperature at 70°C. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Organic waste, fruit waste and vegetable waste are the best substrate to produce biogas. Waste management system for producing biogas can be used as a solution with the waste problem by converting the wastes into biogas. This study is expected to review of the effect of substrate type and substrate composition for the volume of biogas produced. In this study, materials consist of fruit wastes (oranges, apples, papayas, and tomatoes), cow ruminant, urea, cow dung, Na2CO3 buffer, NH4HCO3 buffer, and distilled water with variations of the substrate materials, F/ W, and the buffer types. The addition of cow manure and Na2CO3 buffer with 1:2 of F/W, production of biogas is greater than variable which is used NH4HCO3 buffer and without the addition of cow dung. Variables with addition of cow dung with 1:1 of F/W and using Na2CO3 buffer, the result is greater than the variable using the same buffer but without the addition of cow dung and variables with 1:1 of F/W with the addition of cow dung and Na2CO3 buffer and variables with the same feed and without the addition of cow dung produce more biogases than variable which is the using NH4HCO3 buffer, 1:1 of F/W and without the addition of cow dung. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2018.

BACKGROUND:This study investigated the inflammatory and gut microbiota profile in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD). METHODS:A total of 249 patients undergoing HD and 61 patients on PD participated in the study. The mRNA expressions of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor-2 (NRF2), nuclear factor-κappa B (NF-κB), mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma coactivator 1-alpha (PGC-1α) were evaluated in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) by quantitative real-time PCR. Malondialdehyde (MDA), interleukin 6 (IL-6), and routine biochemical parameters were also analyzed. The fecal DNA extraction was performed, and the V4 regions of the bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA gene were sequenced. Uremic toxins such as p-cresyl sulfate (p-CS), indoxyl sulfate (IS), and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) plasma levels were determined by HPLC. RESULTS:MDA, IS, and p-CS levels were lower in PD than in HD patients. The mRNA expression of the transcription factors was not different between groups. Gut microbial α-diversity indices showed no significant difference between groups, but the β-diversity was different in PD patients. Members of the genera Meditarraneibacter, Roseburia, Agathobacter, Anaerobutyricum, Collinsella, Streptococcus, Clostridium, and Bacteroides, as well as the families Lachnospiraceae and Enterobacteriaceae, appear to be positively correlated with most dietary factors, particularly lipid and phosphorus intake. CONCLUSION:Our findings indicate that in patients with CKD on HD, there is increased plasma retention of uremic toxins and reduced gut microbial diversity compared to PD patients.

Biogas production processes from tapioca wastewater have several problems that cause the biogas production is not optimal, such as pH drop at beginning of the process because the rate of acid formation is too fast and the rate of starch wastewater degradation is too slow. Therefore, to obtain optimal biogas production it is required two-stage reactor. The purposes of this research were to (i) study the influence of one stage fermentation and two stage fermentation on biogas production, (ii) study the effect of buffer Na2CO3 on biogas production, and (iii) study the effect of methanogenic bacteria concentration on biogas production from cassava starch effluent. The first method of our research was hydrolysis process by "Saccharomyces cereviceae" as substrate activator. The second is the arrangement of pH and the last is process of methane production. The results showed that the highest biogas production is achieved at concentration of methanogenic bacteria 20% (v/v) that is equal to 2458 ml. At concentration of 8% (v/v) and 15% (v/v), biogas production was 2105 ml and 2117 ml. The addition of Na2CO3 can extend to 16 days with accumulation of 372 ml. While without the addition of buffer, biogas production period was only 9 days with accumulation of 620 ml. In semi continuous process, the analysis carried out every 3 days. Highest biogas production achieved in the variable addition of yeast with the accumulation 9329 ml. Without yeast, accumulation of biogas was 6831 ml. Yeast is use as substrate activator so it can accelerate the hydrolysis process and increased biogas production. The addition of Na2CO3 is increase the alkalinity so the pH drop did not occur early in the process. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2018.

In carrying out drilling projects at PT China Oilfields Services Limited ( COSL) Indo, especially Project 1 to Project 4, there were a mismatch between the initial plan of the project and the actualisation in the field because there were inhibiting factors in implementing the project. The purpose of the research was to look the factors that caused for the additional time in well drilling project at PT. COSL Indo, to build a relationship model of these factors, and formulate a strategy for the company to be able to overcome the occurrence of additional time in the future project. Data analysis was conducted by using a factor analysis method and the location of the research was carried out in just one company with 102 valid respondents. The results of the research indicate that there are four factors that influence the time gap, namely Project Management Activities, Risk Analysis and Procurement, Manage Stairs, and Project Planning Development. By knowing the causes of the delay, companies can find the best solutions for future learning and the impact on environmental, social and economic problems can also be anticipated so that sustainable development occurs in the context of petroleum management. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Respiratory disorders are not only caused by high concentration of dust, but also affected by employee's habit and characteristics. Based on the data from Sintuk Health Center, there are 145 cases of ISPA in this region. Over all, the brick craftsman smoke and don't use the personal protective equipment. This study aims to determine the relationship between work periods and use of personal protective equipment with respiratory disorders on brick craftsman in Sintuk Toboh Gadang, Padang Pariaman Regency 2017. The research is descriptive analytic research with cross sectional approach which was conducted on 11-21 August 2017. This study used Cluster Sampling with 73 people of total sampling which then using Accidental Sampling and questionnaire to collect the data. The data analysed by using Chi-Square test. The result shows that among 73 respondents, there were 47 people (64,4%) infected respiratory disorders, 41 (56,2%) of times work, 39 (53,4%) work periods, and 55 people (75,3%) do not use personal protective equipment while working. Statistical test revealed that the variables which have relationship with the habit of respiratory disorders were times work (p=0,003, OR=5,304), work periods (p=0,000, OR=7,857), and use of personal protective equipment variables (p=0,004, OR=5,857). From the research, it was found that times work, work periods, and use of personal protective equipment have a strong impact to respiratory disorders. It is suggested that brick craftsman need to use the personal protective equipment in producing craftsman. Therefore, long work periods do not give impact to the respiratory disorders. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
