In this paper, we propose a model for the rapid characterization of MOS-type capacitors in the accumulation region. Closed-form analytical expressions have been used to estimate the equivalent circuit elements, which are calculated as a function of the design parameters of the layout and of the technological process. To verify the modeling carried out, a set of MOS capacitors with different geometries were simulated in ADS® and the main characteristics of the capacitor were compared. Based on the model, an analysis/optimization was implemented in MATLAB® in order to determine the capacitor/cell layout parameters that optimize its structure, based on a figure of merit. Compared to another work in the literature, the proposed method showed a chip-area reduction of 20.82% and an ESR of 16.38% smaller for the same capacitance value. Capacitor optimization not only contributes to reducing costs but also to improving the performance of the circuit it will make part of.

The Human-Centered Internet of Things(HC-IoT)is fast becoming a hotbed of security and privacy *** users can establish a common session key through a trusted server over an open communication channel using a three-party authenticated key *** of the early authenticated key agreement systems relied on pairing,hashing,or modular exponentiation processes that are computationally intensive and *** order to address this problem,this paper offers a new three-party authenticated key agreement technique based on fractional chaotic *** new scheme uses fractional chaotic maps and supports the dynamic sensing of HC-IoT devices in the network architecture without a password *** projected security scheme utilized a hash function,which works well for the resource-limited HC-IoT *** results show that our new technique is resistant to password guessing attacks since it does not use a ***,our approach provides users with comprehensive privacy protection,ensuring that a user forgery attack causes no ***,our new technique offers better security features than the techniques currently available in the literature.

Due to the large amount of sensitive data generated by websites, it is possible to understand the progress of attacks to their databases. This work proposes an intrusion detection system based on data mining and machine learning techniques to detect and mitigate the damage caused by these attacks. It adopts the Information Gain method of selecting attributes in order to reduce the model-building time without affecting the classification performance. Using the CIC-IDS 2017 dataset, this work shows how different decision tree algorithms (Random Forest and J48 Algorithm) behave even if they receive equal parameters and data. Using Information Gain to select attributes, the proposed system achieves a processing time reduction of up to 90%.

In this paper, it is presented a new modified structure of antipodal Vivaldi antenna (AVA). The structure is fed by a triple ridged substrate integrated waveguide (RSIW) on a single layer low-cost FR4 substrate. The ridges insertion allows a bandwidth enhancement due to the cut-off frequency decrease and consequently the miniaturization. The new structure is compared to an AVA fed by a classical SIW designed for a cut-off frequency around 4 GHz. Numerical simulations were performed and a bandwidth enhancement of 660 MHz was achieved with a gain of 2.06-7.59dBi within the frequency range.

Cattle monitoring is an important demand in precision livestock and crossbreed quality control. Previous studies and products have been proposed to approach this problem, although several factors pose challenges for real-time data acquisition and analysis. In this work, we present a proof of concept prototype for a cattle crossbreed monitoring system based on wireless sensor networks. The hardware implementation, the sensor data acquisition system and the field tests are described in detail. Supervised machine learning algorithms are applied for copulation detection and the classification metrics show that some of the proposed models have good sensitivity, suggesting promising directions for future steps and optimization. © 2021 IEEE.

Analog-to-Information Converter (AIC) is the physical implementation of Compressed Sensing (CS) systems to digitize signals directly from the analog domain. Due to non-idealities of components AIC hardware needs a calibration step to adjust parameters before its utilization. In this paper, we consider a theoretical linear model of an AIC architecture composed by parallel channels that suffers from synchronization problems between the input signal and the internal signals used to perform the measurement. Using a radar inspired technique we propose a method to estimate the delay between these signals. Obtained results show the accuracy of the proposed method and its potential to be used in AIC calibration techniques. © 2019 IEEE

In this paper, we propose a flexible passive RFID tag using a Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) structure for antenna gain enhancement. The tag is based on a folded dipole antenna and 8 CSRR cells in the same layer, on a polyamide substrate. Simulation results performed in the ANSYS Electronics Desktop software are presented. It has been shown that with the insertion of the metamaterial structure there is a considerable improvement in some parameters of the antenna, such as directivity, efficiency and, consequently, gain. The gain of the antenna increased, approximately, from -6.8 dB to 5.3 dB. In addition, a read range of approximately 24.21 m was obtained at the operating frequency (915 MHz) with the metamaterial-based antenna. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper proposes a data acquisition system based on wireless sensor networks to measure the methane concentration level in a sanitary landfill, and a sensor node prototype for this application. The sensor node was designed to measure temperature, relative humidity and methane concentration. Based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, the proposed system allows a continuous monitoring of the methane emissions and reduces the exposition of workers to the hazardous environmental conditions of the landfill. A sensor node prototype was developed and tested as a demonstration of the feasibility of the system. © 2019 IEEE.

In this paper, an efficient synthesis for integrated spiral inductors based on particle swarm optimization is presented. The synthesis/optimization process aims to determine the inductor layout parameters that maximize the quality factor while considering the imposed restrictions (project specifications). The spiral inductors are modeled using a double-π scalable model, in which the design parameters of inductor are taken as input. All the elements of the scalable model are calculated from the scalable expressions and process parameters. Particle swarm optimization is used to explore the design space and resolution of the optimization problem. Three design examples of inductors with inductance values of 3 nH, 5.5 nH and 8 nH, and with operating frequency of 2 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5 GHz are used to evaluate the synthesis process. The obtained results confirm the validity of the adopted methodology and the PSO efficiency in determining the most adequate inductor structure to the project specifications. © 2019 IEEE.

Metallurgical modelling based on the physical laws (white box) purely covers all the theoretical phenomena in the plant, but its development takes too much effort, and moreover the model should be tuned against real data, which are often noisy. On the other hand, a purely data driven modelling (black box) requires less effort and provides a simpler model, but includes a significant bias as the plant history is the only foundation of this kind of model. Since a good process model should be prepared to reproduce any behavior a plant might present, even if it never happened, we thought of a hybrid modelling (grey box) considering the response of theoretical models along with the actual data to find simple process models that can be realized in small smart-devices. However, a lot of processing and exhaustive optimization is required in these tasks, making mandatory the use of parallel computing and in-memory facilities. The result of this work is to develop an approach to model a complex problem like Aluminum Reduction using the physical already known models as data generators to add further data into the existing dataset, which should be used a source for machine learning algorithms. © 2018 Universitatsverlag Potsdam.
