This paper proposes a novel localization approach based on visual impressions. We define a visual impression as the representation of a HSV color distribution of a place. The representation uses clustering feature (CF) tree to manage the color distribution and we propose to weight each CF entry to indicate its importance. The method compares the navigating tree, which is created by the robot from its observations, with the available reference trees of the environment. In addition, we propose a new similarity measure to compare two CF trees which represent the visual impressions of the corresponding two places. The method is tested on two data sets collected in different environments. The results of the experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Benzohydroxamic Acid Photodegradation by Prepared Ce Modified TiO2

Rare earth element Ce doped TiO2 (Ce/TiO2) was synthesized by sol-gel method. Benzohydroxamic acid was used as the objective pollutant to investigate the photocatalytic activity of Ce/TiO2. The structure and physicochemical properties of prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), and so on. As a result, the doping of Ce could inhibit the crystal growth of TiO2, retain a smaller grain size, increase its specific surface area, and improve the photocatalytic activity of Ce/TiO2. The crystallinity was good when the doping ratio of Ce to TiO2 was 0.20%. The prepared Ce/TiO2 particles were more uniform, and of stronger optical absorption properties. Ce/TiO2 with the doping ratio of 0.20% calcined at 500 ℃ showed the highest photocatalytic activity to degrade benzohydroxamic acid. After 120 min, the removal rate of benzohydroxamic acid reached 90.98% (0.3 g•L-1 of Ce/TiO2), and 82.8% of the total organic carbon was eliminated. In addition, after four recycling runs, Ce/TiO2 (0.20%) still kept high photocatalytic activity on the photodegradation of benzohydroxamic acid. ©2018, Editorial Office of Chinese Journal of Rare Metals. Passenger buses have been one of favorite means of transportation in Indonesia due to its affordability and flexibility. Intensity of human activities during the trip in the buses have a potential of causing indoor air pollution (polusi udara dalam ruang;PUDR). The indoor air pollution has an impact of 1000-time bigger than outdoor air pollution (polusi udara luar ruang;PULR) on lung. This study aimed to find out indoor air pollution rate of non air conditioned buses using an approach to biological agent pollutant source. The study applied an analysis restricted to microorganisms persistence as one of the sources of the indoor air pollution. The media were placed in different parts of the non AC buses. This study revealed that fungs were found in the non AC buses. They became contaminants and developed pathogenic bacteria that caused air pollution. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

In this proceeding, we present polarization data of sidebands emitted from strongly driven quasiparticles, demonstrate the dependence of these data on various parameters of the external driving field, and describe the data using an analytical expression, dependent on driving field parameters and the effective Hamiltonian of the system. We propose using this method on spin-momentum locked systems, such as altermagnets, to observe and reconstruct sidebands which are influenced by the topology of individual bands. © Optica Publishing Group 2024 © 2024 The Author(s)

Current-transfer phase-control breaking is one method of paralleled breaking. This method can make up for shortcoming of sole chamber with high rated current and high rated short-current breaking current at the same time. In addition to breaker stationary open time and computing speed of controller, the key influence factor is that controller needs accurately to compute the current-transfer time and current zero appearing moment. It will influence the best triggering moment determination of breaker driving actuator. This paper constructs its mathematical model of current transfer process. By the theory modeling with Matlab, this paper analyzes the influencing factors to current-transfer time and current zero appearing moment. From simulation procedure and result, dc component of short-circuit current and short-circuit current phase angle of contact separating moment of first open chamber, impedance parameter of paralleled circuit and arc voltage of first open chamber after contact separating both influence the current process and current zero. After breaker structure and chamber parameters are fixed, most important matter is that short-circuit current phase angle of contact separating moment of first open chamber needs to be determined accurately.

Moyer (Civil Engineering Department University of Massachusetts Amherst MA 01003) is a doctoral candidate in the Environmental Engineering Program of the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with an M.S. degree in environmental engineering from that institution. Her research interests include subsurface investigation soil venting bioremediation and analytical modeling of subsurface contamination. The diffusion of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (TMP) and 2,2,5-trimethylhexane (TMH) vapors out of residually contaminated sandy soil from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) field research site at Traverse City, Michigan, was measured and modeled. The headspace of an intact core sleeve sample was swept with nitrogen gas to simulate the diffusive release of hydrocarbon vapors from residual aviation gasoline in and immediately above the capillary fringe to a soil-venting air flow in the unsaturated zone. The resulting steady-state profile was modeled using existing diffusivity and air porosity estimates in a balance of diffusive flux and a first order source term. The source strength, which was calibrated with the observed flux of 2,2,4-TMP leaving the sleeve, varied with the residual gasoline remaining in the core, but was independent of the headspace sweep flow rate. This finding suggested that lower soil-venting air flow rates were in principle as effective as higher air flow rates in venting LNAPL vapors from contaminated soils. The saturated vapor concentration ratio of 2,2,4-TMP to 2,2,5-TMH decreased from 6.6 to 3.5 over the duration of the experiments in an expression of distillation effects. The vertical profile model was tested against sample port data in four separate experiments for both species, yielding mean errors ranging from 0 to -24 percent in magnitude.

Degradation Activity for Aniline Aerofloat of Sm-doped TiO2 Photocatalysts

Different Sm-doped TiO2 (x%Sm/TiO2) powders were prepared by a sol-gel method at different calcination temperatures. The structure and physicochemical properties of x%Sm/TiO2 were characterized, and the photodegradation activity of x%Sm/TiO2 for aniline aerofloat was investigated under the irradiation of 300 W mercury lamps. The results indicate that the Sm-doped TiO2 has a greater light absorption intensity, a larger specific surface area and a smaller particle size, compared to pure TiO2. The Sm-doped TiO2 has a high UV photocatalytic activity. Under the light of 300 W mercury lamps, a 0.25%Sm/TiO2 powder calcined at 500 ℃ shows the optimum photocatalytic activity, which is reflected by 91.9% removal efficiency to aniline aerofloat after 180 min. In addition, a 0.25%Sm/TiO2 powder still has a great photocatalytic activity for the photodegradation of aniline aerofloat after 4-time recycling, showing the stability of Sm-doped TiO2. The results of quenching experiment indicate that the photocatalytic activity based on the synergistic reaction between holes (h+) and hydroxyl radicals (•OH) while the •OH acts as the major role. © 2018, Editorial Department of Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society. Oriented the design procedures of bus-based automotive body control system, rules are used to describe the control intention of prototype model first. This paper represents the approach of modeling bus-based automotive body control system with rules description, and designed hardware-in-the-loop system based on distributed control, which merges virtual reality into physical simulation on vehicle. The HILS can verify the reliability and safety in the system modeling phase. We made HIL simulation using typical case, and the results shows that HIL approach could quantify the system time delay which affects the reliability, and improve the robustness of body control system.
