A new method of terrain self-adaptive matching algorithm for autonomous underwater vehicle

As different underwater terrain features will affect the accuracy of unscented Kalman filter terrain matching algorithm, a new terrain self-adaptive matching method is proposed which adjusts sigma point distribution by terrain features. The connection between sigma point distribution distance and three basic terrain features were analysed. Positioning error range were calculated using navigation positioning errors and underwater digital map. Terrain elevation standard deviation was used to characterize the information quantity of decision region. Scaling parameter was adjusted using linear mapping method and sigma point distribution distance was determined by terrain features. The simulation results proved better terrain adaptability and positioning precision of improved self-adaptive matching algorithm.

AUV is a powerful tool for exploration and development of marine resources. Underwater terrain matching navigation is an emerging passive autonomous navigation method, which improves the long-term and high-precision navigation capability of AUV. The underwater terrain matching algorithm based on particle filter (PF) use a large number of particle sampling to approximate the system state, which can avoid the Taylor expansion truncation error caused by the terrain linearization method, and has good matching precision and terrain adaptability. However, due to the strong nonlinearity and the uneven distribution of the underwater terrain features, it is difficult to achieve the full-range terrain matching optimize with a single configuration parameter of PF underwater terrain matching algorithm. For this reason, this paper has comprehensively studied the PF terrain matching algorithm (referred to as PF matching algorithm). The principle, accuracy and implementation steps of PF algorithm are analyzed. With the UKF algorithm as a reference, the advantages and disadvantages of PF-based algorithm are studied through computer simulation of terrain matching navigation. The matching precision and terrain adaptability of PF-based algorithm has been tested. From the simulation results, it is concluded that the particle diversity decline is one of the main factors affecting the matching performance, which provides a basis for algorithm performance improvement and engineering adaptability improvement.

As coal mining operations continue to deepen, the frequency of coal spontaneous combustion (CSC) and gas explosion disasters in high-gas mines is increasing. Understanding the distribution patterns of CSC and gas compound disaster zones in mined-out areas during the extraction process is crucial for reducing the risks of combustion and explosion. This study focuses on the 201 working face of the Shuanglong Coal Mine, where a multi-physical field coupling model of pressure, temperature, gas seepage, and diffusion was established to investigate the evolution characteristics of compound disaster zones and propose corresponding prevention and control measures. The results demonstrate that the area with the most severe composite hazard is mainly located at the return roadway side, extending to the middle of the gob. With increased ventilation volume and advance rate, the area of the CSC and gas coupling hazard zone expands continuously. By implementing measures such as air curtains and nitrogen injection, the areas of spontaneous combustion and CH4 explosion zones were reduced by 53.6% and 49.5%, respectively, effectively controlling the extent of the compound disaster zone and eliminating the risk of gas explosions. © 2024, The Authors. MW wind turbine has become the mainstream, they nearly all use the variable pitch control to regulate the power output. In this paper, we take the electric variable pitch control wind turbine as the research object, analyze the kinds of turbulences on the blade. For an aerofoil of the blade, when the point of the center of mass, the dynamic point and the blade axis point are not the same, there would be centrifugal force, gravity, aerodynamic forces acting on the blade, and they all will influence the rotation of the blade about the blade axis. Here, introduction and analysis has been done focusing on the turbulences., especially simulation in MATLAB.

Oriented the design procedures of bus-based automotive body control system, rules are used to describe the control intention of prototype model first. This paper represents the approach of modeling bus-based automotive body control system with rules description, and designed hardware-in-the-loop system based on distributed control, which merges virtual reality into physical simulation on vehicle. The HILS can verify the reliability and safety in the system modeling phase. We made HIL simulation using typical case, and the results shows that HIL approach could quantify the system time delay which affects the reliability, and improve the robustness of body control system. © 2011 Chinese Assoc of Automati.

With the rapid growth of the textile, leather, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries, concerns about pollutants in these sectors, especially dye pollutants, are increasing. This research characterizes bacterial nanocellulose acetate membranes made from Sargassum extract reinforced with copper oxide nanoparticles and tests their antibacterial properties and dye removal in water. Sargassum sp. extract was fermented using Acetobacter xylinum for 10 days, producing bacterial nanocellulose, which was then esterified to create bacterial nanocellulose acetate. Copper oxide nanoparticles were added to the bacterial nanocellulose acetate solution in varying concentrations, cast, and oven-dried. The membrane was analyzed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, antibacterial activity, and dye removal. Results showed uniform copper oxide nanoparticles distribution on the membrane surface. Structure analysis revealed diffraction peaks at 35.44° and 38.57°, indicating a reduced crystalline index but improved membrane effectiveness. Antibacterial tests showed a zone of inhibition against bacterial growth, increasing with higher copper oxide nanoparticle content. The addition of copper oxide nanoparticles also influenced the dye removal capacity for Metanil Yellow, Congo Red, Eosin Yellow, Methylene Blue, and Malachite Green. The kinetic analysis showed that the adsorption process follows a pseudo-first-order model, with higher correlation coefficients (R2) compared to the pseudo-second-order model. © 2024 The Author(s)

Investigation of combustion temperature through experiments with a wide range of fuels, both solid and liquid, is continuously being conducted by scientists around the world, while the measurement of heat transfer rate can be analyzed when the combustion process occurs. Previous research has generally been conducted using liquefied gas, fossil fuels, and alcohol additives. Specifically, the research in this work investigated the convection heat rate and combustion temperature through the modification of the perforated plate. The experiment was conducted in the fluidized-bed combustor (FBC) fuel chamber using solid waste fuel of oil palm biomass. Measurements were performed at four different points using the HotTemp HT-306 Digital Thermometer. The results of the experiment showed that the convection heat rate in measurement one (M-I) reached 8.258 W/m2 for palm kernel shell (PKS) fuel. Meanwhile, in measurement two (M-II), the convection rate of 7.392 W/m2 was produced by oil palm midrib (OPM) fuel. The highest combustion temperature was recorded with OPM fuel (884°C) at M-I. However, the combustion temperature of the PKS combustion process is higher at 896°C but shows a less good trend than OPM. Overall, the measurement results of the three types of fuel used to modify the perforated plate applied in the FBC fuel chamber are excellent. It can be proven that the fuel is put into the combustion chamber with nothing left. © 2021 Erdiwansyah et al.

This paper presents a proposal for the modification of the Elitist Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) whose operation is based on the concepts of dominance found in the principle of Pareto efficiency. The proposed modification is about the domain to be analyzed by the algorithm, which is then restricted to a region near the point of interest, thus being faster and with a lower computational cost due to the smaller search space. © 2017 IEEE.

In this paper is presented the implementation of a corner reflector antenna where the reflective metal plates are replaced by frequency selective surfaces, FSS, based on the four-arm star geometry. The projected antenna an aperture angle of 60° and operation at 4.0 GHz. The design steps are described and numerical and experiments. For the region within the aperture angle, the corner reflectors with metallic plates and FSS presented practically the same results. The differences between numerical and experimental results in the region outside the angle region are discussed and justified. It is concluded that the use of FSS as reflectors in the corner reflecting antenna is feasible, which is very interesting considering the characteristics of the material (low weight and reduced volume) and the simplicity of the of the FSS. In addition, the antenna proposed in this work is potentially attractive, since it is possible to use FSS reconfigurable and, therefore, if an active antenna is obtained. © 2017 IEEE.
