A rapid,precise method for identifying waterborne pathogens is critically needed for effective disinfection and better ***,conventional methods,such as culture-based counting,generally suffer from slow detection times and low ***,we developed a rapid detection method for tracing waterborne pathogens by an innovative optofluidic platform,a plasmonic bacteria on a nanoporous mirror,that allows effective hydrodynamic cell trapping,enrichment of pathogens,and optical signal *** designed and simulated the integrated optofluidic platform to maximize the enrichment of the bacteria and to align bacteria on the nanopores and plasmonic mirror via hydrodynamic cell *** nanoparticles are self-assembled to form antenna arrays on the surface of bacteria,such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa,by replacing citrate with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in order to amplify the signal of the plasmonic optical *** to the synergistic contributions of focused light via the nanopore geometry,self-assembled nanoplasmonic optical antennas on the surface of bacteria,and plasmonic mirror,we obtain a sensitivity of detecting *** as low as 102 cells/ml via surface-enhanced Raman *** believe that our label-free strategy via an integrated optofluidic platform will pave the way for the rapid,precise identification of various pathogens.

This paper shows the use of PBL (Problem-Based Learning) technique as a key to learning VoIP in courses like electricalengineering and computer Networks in conjunction with open source and the public domain software called Asterisk which was used to create the scenario of the experiment and the problems presented to the students. In order to make the validation, the experiment was applied to students of Bachelor in electricalengineering and in Communication Technology System, undergraduate courses at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba - IFPB, in the Telephony subject, with promising results. The Asterisk software was presented as a useful and flexible tool for constructing scenarios and problems for the teaching of VoIP technologies and the used approach resulted as effective for improving the attainment of the defined learning objectives.

This paper describes a system able to acquire, process and eliminate noise in continuous streams of data in real-time. The signal processing algorithms were based on the discrete wavelet transform and employ a new approach to deal with border problems, allowing to process the data continuously. The system was implemented using a DSP coupled to a digitizer through its external memory bus to guarantee deterministic behavior while maintaining some degree of flexibility in its configuration. The achieved performance and potential applications are discussed at the end of the text.

Ploidy determination across the genome has been challenging for low-pass-WGS tumor-only samples. We present BACDAC, a method that calculates tumor ploidy down to 1.2X effective tumor coverage. Allele fraction patterns displayed in the Constellation Plot verify tumor ploidy and reveal subclonal populations. BACDAC outputs a metric, 2NLOH, that when combined with ploidy better distinguishes near-diploid from high-ploidy tumors. Validated using TCGA, BACDAC had good agreement with other methods and 88% agreement with experimental methods. Discrepancies occur mainly when BACDAC predicts diploidy with subclones rather than high-ploidy. Applied to 653 low-pass-WGS samples spanning 12 cancer subtypes, BACDAC calls 40% as high-ploidy.
