We have developed the Shopping Refugees Support Robot that enables the elderly to order items through Social Networking Service (SNS) by voice conversation without relying on smartphones. This paper proposes a detection method of dementia signs using this Robot. Concretely, deterioration of cognitive function is detected by the evaluation of short-term memory utilizing order history of the Robot. We expect detection of dementia signs on a daily basis without making the elderly person conscious of having a dementia test, by information that only the person knows. We implemented a prototype and confirmed its functional validity. © 2020 IEEE.

Gear reducers are commonly used in cross-industrial applications. These include a range of advanced and basic processes, requiring the delivery of a controlled torque output. Mainly, industrial reducers are used in material handling units as it controls the speed of the machineries such as conveyors, cranes, hoist, mixers etc. For effective operation and to reduce the downtime due to any fault, optimal operating conditions are needed to define. In this paper the effectiveness and yield power are thought of, as the main attributes of the Industrial reducer, and their optimization was performed. As the impacting factors, the viscosity of lubricant, the initial parametric no. of revolutions and the current force intensity on the control unit, were considered. Test tests were performed based on the L27 Taguchi orthogonal array. For maximizing the output power and efficiency of mechanical reducer, recently formulate bio-inspired meta -heuristic algorithms i.e. Material Generation Algorithm and Sunflower Optimization Algorithm were employed besides Taguchi technique for optimization. It was found that current intensity played a significant role in maximizing the output power and efficiency of industrial reducer in accordance to analysis of variance results. Also both Material Generation Algorithm and Sunflower Optimization Algorithm resulted to be precise in providing better output as compared to Taguchi method for maximizing the output power and efficiency of the industrial reducer gearbox.

Capital market transactions provide an opportunity for investors to acquire ownership of company shares and capital gains, as well as dividends. However, alongside the benefits, there are risks of capital loss and liquidation, leading to stress and depression due to profit targets and decision-making errors. To mitigate the risk of decision-making errors in investment, data analysis is needed, including sentiment analysis, which influences stock prices. This study aims to develop a new deep learning model to classify Indonesian public opinion on JCI stocks, especially the Energy sector, obtained from the Twitter social media platform. The model will perform sentiment analysis and categorize opinions as negative, neutral, or positive. We created a dataset that was trained using Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) to summarize the analysis of public sentiment above so that it can assist investors in studying public sentiment as a reference for investing with a yield precision of 76%, Recall of 77%, and F1-score on 76%.

The Robotics Major at the University of Michigan was successfully launched inthe 2022-23 academic year as an innovative step forward to better servestudents, our communities, and our society. Building on our guiding principleof "Robotics with Respect" and our larger Robotics Pathways model, the MichiganRobotics Major was designed to define robotics as a true academic disciplinewith both equity and excellence as our highest priorities. Understanding thattalent is equally distributed but opportunity is not, the Michigan RoboticsMajor has embraced an adaptable curriculum that is accessible through adiversity of student pathways and enables successful and sustained career-longparticipation in robotics, AI, and automation professions. The results afterour planning efforts (2019-22) and first academic year (2022-23) have beenhighly encouraging: more than 100 students declared Robotics as their major,completion of the Robotics major by our first two graduates, soaringenrollments in our Robotics classes, thriving partnerships with HistoricallyBlack Colleges and Universities. This document provides our original curricularproposal for the Robotics Undergraduate program at the University of Michigan,submitted to the Michigan Association of State Universities in April 2022 andapproved in June 2022. This paper presents a single-phase four-leg ac-dc-ac converter, with one leg shared by the grid side and the load side. The proposed topology can generate input and output voltages with seven levels, presenting reduced harmonic distortion, in addition to using reduced voltage switches. The space-vector pulsewidth modulation strategy (SV-PWM), the control technique, the system model, and a comparison with a three-leg topology will be presented. As for performance comparison parameters, harmonic distortion in currents and voltages, the average switching frequency, and semiconductor losses will be used. The topology was simulated and assembled in the laboratory to obtain experimental results. © 2020 IEEE.

In recent decades, there has been a significant increase in the presence of robots in the daily operations of industries. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) used in industrial environments are gaining prominence due to their numerous applications, ranging from logistic tasks such as material transport to more complex process tasks like replacing conveyor belts in production lines. For a mobile robot to operate in these environments, it must possess skills to perform its functions and ensure safety. In this regard, simulating a computational model of a real autonomous system can contribute to developing new operational strategies. The objective of this work is to explore the use of a Digital Twin for an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV), aiming to design and validate navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithms, with the intent to optimize the operation of these devices in industrial environments. In the current study, the AGV G3R1000 was used, which was modeled in detail in FUSION 360 software, along with a production line from the AGVS company in Brazil. As validation, the digital robot was used to design the navigation software using the PID control system and obstacle avoidance using Fuzzy control. The algorithm developed in the digital robot was applied to the real robot, and a performance comparison was made. In conclusion, it is possible to use the simulated robot to design algorithms for the real robot, saving resources such as time and equipment.

Assessment of force control improvement induced by sinusoidal vibrotactile stimulation in dominant and non-dominant hands

Purpose: Vibrotactile stimulation has been shown to improve sensorimotor integration in the central nervous system, thereby enhancing motor performance in several conditions. Here we aim to address two questions: (1) Would lateral asymmetries yielding handedness influence the force control improvement induced by sinusoidal vibrotactile stimulation? (2) Does the force control improvement depend on finding an optimum stimulus intensity? Methods: Eleven participants performed a visually guided force-matching task, while different intensities of sinusoidal vibrations were applied to the index finger skin. Tasks consisted of abductions of the index fingers of dominant and non-dominant hands at 5% of their maximal voluntary contractions. The force coefficient of variation (CoV) in the condition without vibration was used as the reference (control) for later comparison with five vibration intensities. Also, force CoV in the control condition was compared with those obtained from the optimal vibration selected either from both hands or from a single hand (the one that started the experiment). Results: Despite the known sensory asymmetries in cortical and spinal circuits, handedness did not significantly influence the improvement of force control induced by sinusoidal vibrotactile stimulation during low-intensity contractions. Moreover, there was a significant reduction in force variability irrespective of the criteria used to select the vibration intensity. Conclusion: These findings add to the current knowledge on the effects of sinusoidal vibrotactile stimulation on force control and have potential implications for the development of wearable motor enhancer devices. © 2020, Sociedade Brasileira de Engenharia Biomedica.

Fast non-iterative algorithm for 3D point-cloud holography

Recently developed iterative and deep learning-based approaches to computer-generated holography (CGH) have been shown to achieve high-quality photorealistic 3D images with spatial light modulators. However, such approaches remain overly cumbersome for patterning sparse collections of target points across a photoresponsive volume in applications including biological microscopy and material processing. Specifically, in addition to requiring heavy computation that cannot accommodate real-time operation in mobile or hardware-light settings, existing sampling-dependent 3D CGH methods preclude the ability to place target points with arbitrary precision, limiting accessible depths to a handful of planes. Accordingly, we present a non-iterative point cloud holography algorithm that employs fast deterministic calculations in order to efficiently allocate patches of SLM pixels to different target points in the 3D volume and spread the patterning of all points across multiple time frames. Compared to a matched-performance implementation of the iterative Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, our algorithm's relative computation speed advantage was found to increase with SLM pixel count, reaching >100,000x at 512x512 array format.
