Numerical electric field analysis of capacitance and potential in space for estimation of permittivity distribution

We have been studying on measuring capacitance and potential using long distance electrode for estimating a permittivity distribution. The estimating method of permittivity distribution was proposed using Finite Element Method (FEM) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). However, the measurement accuracy was not reviewed. In this paper, we carried out numerical analysis using FEM in case of change of diameter, position and permittivity of a rod of dielectric and discussed the measurement accuracy of capacitance and potential. © 2018 The Institute of electrical Engineers of Japan.

Indonesian river's potentials on Mini or Microhydro fuelled power plants has not been maximally explored despite its big potentials of utilization. The 500 MW energy potentials of Mini or Microhydro throughout Indonesia have only reached the point of 4.5% while National Energy Management Blueprint in 2050 targeted 31% of renewable energy (RE) is coming from Micro hydro energy. The applications of 80 mm diameter cross flow turbine in a household scale have drawn an increase in its experience with 450 Watts of power produced through small discharge of 20 liters/second and 3-meter head. Cross flow turbines testing in 130 mm length and 80 mm diameter conducted using Mini / micro hydropower Plant in environmentally friendly power House drum. Lower investment and operational design cost also to be made on its aim to reach community group or individual segments.

We present topological insulators for surface acoustic waves on piezoelectric materials. Our structures are based on honeycomb lattices of different types of acoustic domains and derive their nontrivial topology by breaking the symmetry of the lattice hexagonal unit cells. Our results can have applications in compact signal processing integrated devices at microwave frequencies based on surface acoustic waves.

At the Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe determining accident-prone areas on roads in Lhokseumawe still using manual systems. Determination of accident-prone areas are less effective because the police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe just using the data of the last year and had to repeatedly calculate manually accident-prone areas based on the number of human casualties. In this study the system implementation CUSUM method (Cummulative Summary) to determine the accident-prone areas designed using the web-based programming language PHP. In this system there are three processes to determine areas prone to accidents, the accident rate calculations based on the weighted severity, blacksite calculations using the Z-Score method for determining areas prone to accident blackspots and calculations using the CUSUM method to determine the critical points of an accident. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe years 2009-2013. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Physics-based learned design: Optimized coded-illumination for quantitative phase imaging

Coded-illumination can enable quantitative phase microscopy of transparent samples with minimal hardware requirements. Intensity images are captured with different source patterns and a non-linear phase retrieval optimization reconstructs the image. The non-linear nature of the processing makes optimizing the illumination pattern designs complicated. Traditional techniques for experimental design (e.g. condition number optimization, spectral analysis) consider only linear measurement formation models and linear reconstructions. Deep neural networks (DNNs) can efficiently represent the non-linear process and can be optimized over via training in an end-to-end framework. However, DNNs typically require a large amount of training examples and parameters to properly learn the phase retrieval process, without making use of the known physical models. Here, we aim to use both our knowledge of the physics and the power of machine learning together. We develop a new data-driven approach to optimizing coded-illumination patterns for a LED array microscope for a given phase reconstruction algorithm. Our method incorporates both the physics of the measurement scheme and the non-linearity of the reconstruction algorithm into the design problem. This enables efficient parameterization, which allows us to use only a small number of training examples to learn designs that generalize well in the experimental setting without retraining. We show experimental results for both a well-characterized phase target and mouse fibroblast cells using coded-illumination patterns optimized for a sparsity-based phase reconstruction algorithm. Our learned design results using 2 measurements demonstrate similar accuracy to Fourier Ptychography with 69 measurements. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper aims to present a fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) controller on multiple autonomous mobile robots (multirobot system) in order to complete a foraging task in semiunknown environments, and to compare the FCM results with a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). In this work, the limits of the searching area are known. However, everything within it (goals, obstacles and position of other robots during navigation) is unknown. The foraging task simulates a real-life application of robots on rescue missions, where the main objective is rescuing the victims of a tragedy, or lost in a forest, or even victims of a major accident in an industry. Although it is a simulated environment, we tested the autonomy and cooperation among all robots for this kind of operation in different simulated scenarios. We used a reactive (real-time) architecture to enhance the robots' global robustness on dealing with unpredictable situations. The results imply that the FCM approach presented, in general, less simulation processing time and distance traveled, without significant prejudice in the explored area. In this way, we expect to collaborate and serve as inspiration for future works on this research area.

Recently, unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are widely applied in civilian and commercial areas. In order to rapidly arrange the UAVs in a variable and changeable environment, the technique of maintaining stable and reliable communication link between Ground Control Station (GCS) and UAVs is one of the main issues [1]. However, UAVs deployment can significantly increase the efficiency of missions execution and the flexibility of task allocation. As discussed by different scholars, multi-UAVs have a number of advantages depending on the application areas: disaster areas monitoring, wireless sensor data collection in precision agriculture, and relay-aided of UAVs network topology [2].

Navigating unfamiliar places is a common problem pilgrim face during Hajj. There exists few research-based applications that provide support but are less suited for highly crowded situations such as Hajj religious event. Therefore there is need to investigate support systems for use in large crowded events. Towards Developing an Intelligent HAJJ Guide system is a PhD thesis that investigates the issues of guidance for pilgrim and how it can make Hajj more suitable for pilgrims who navigate in groups in unfamiliar areas. This paper is will present the mean findings of the PhD dissertation. © 2017 IEEE.

A low twist angle between the two stacked crystal networks in bilayer graphene enables self-organized lattice reconstruction with the formation of a periodic domain. This superlattice modulates the vibrational and electronic structures, imposing new rules for electron-phonon coupling and the eventual observation of strong correlation and superconductivity. Direct optical images of the crystal superlattice in reconstructed twisted bilayer graphene are reported here, generated by the inelastic scattering of light in a nano-Raman spectroscope. The observation of the crystallographic structure with visible light is made possible due to lattice dynamics localization, the images resembling spectral variations caused by the presence of strain solitons and topological points. The results are rationalized by a nearly-free-phonon model and electronic calculations that highlight the relevance of solitons and topological points, particularly pronounced for structures with small twist angles. We anticipate our discovery to play a role in understanding Jahn-Teller effects and electronic Cooper pairing, among many other important phonon-related effects, and it may be useful for characterizing devices in the most prominent platform for the field of *** Codes 82D03 Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Chirality is a ubiquitous phenomenon in the natural world. Many biomolecules without inversion symmetry such as amino acids and sugars are chiral molecules. Measuring and controlling molecular chirality at a high precision down to the atomic scale are highly desired in physics, chemistry, biology, and medicine, however, have remained challenging. Herein, we achieve all-optical reconfigurable chiral meta-molecules experimentally using metallic and dielectric colloidal particles as artificial atoms or building blocks to serve at least two purposes. One is that the on-demand meta-molecules with strongly enhanced optical chirality are well-suited as substrates for surface-enhanced chiroptical spectroscopy of chiral molecules and as active components in optofluidic and nanophotonic devices. The other is that the bottom-up-assembled colloidal meta-molecules provide microscopic models to better understand the origin of chirality in the actual atomic and molecular systems.
