The Circular Economy is driven by sustainable strategies of management and the reuse of materials and power to try to decrease the demand of resources and minimize the environmental impacts. Aligned to said perspective, the Industrial Symbiosis (IS) is opposite to the linear production's logic, enabling the sharing of resources, waste, and by-products, that is, the circular flow of power, water, materials, and information. In the last few years, to improve these IS strategies, platforms and tools were created to intermediate this process and facilitate the match between those who demand and offer waste and resources, such as the online waste markets or e-marketplaces. From this perspective, the objective of this study is to evaluate how these tools contributed to the IS process, going beyond the problem of the local factor. For this purpose, ten online platforms, found in the literature, were selected. The analysis was made based on the identification of key elements, which enabled the creation of a list with different types of traded materials, sectors and areas served, how wide was the service, the year when the activities started and, ultimately, the business model adopted. As a result, the evaluation shows that these tools enhance the symbiosis process because they approach the parties and facilitate the identification of synergies. Generally, the use of online platforms widens the geographic scope of the IS processes, enabling the interaction of parties from different places and regions. Was observed that these tools are characterized by the use of intelligent systems, based on algorithms that identify and recommend relations, providing greater assertiveness and speed to the decision-making process. Among the research's findings, we must stress that the IS potential extends much beyond the reuse of waste. There are opportunities for other synergies, such as infrastructure and service sharing. This study investigates barriers to adopting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in road freight transportation, a sector where operational efficiency is crucial. A mixed-method approach comprising a Systematic Literature Review, the Fuzzy Delphi Method, and the Best and Worst Method was employed to evaluate these barriers. Five main obstacles were identified: lack of top management and investor support, resistance to change, absence of economic and political incentives, uncertainties regarding return on investment, and high technology investment costs. The most significant barrier was the lack of top management support, which influenced investment and strategic decisions. Theoretically, the research enhances understanding of technology adoption barriers in road freight transportation, providing insights for future academic and practical applications. From a managerial point of view, this study offers insights to improve ICT adoption strategies, thereby boosting sector efficiency and competitiveness.

Strategies have been developed in the last decades to improve the sustainability of produced goods,including cleaner production (CP) as an important approach in identifying problems and propose alternatives for improvement under a holistic *** Serrana city,located at Minas Gerais state,Brazil,has a footwear cluster considered fundamental for the regional socioeconomic ***,the production is still based on outdated management techniques that make it economically noncompetitive and cause high load on the natural environment,which claims for studies supporting decisions towards higher *** work aims to discuss about the results obtained after applying the CP approach in three footwear factories located in Nova Serrana ***,the factories are assessed under emergy (with an "m") and material flow accounting *** show that CP was helpful in identifying opportunities for improvement related to better management that is usually easy and cheap to be achieved,including employee training,updating internal control of material storages,reusing scrap materials,and redesigning the procedure of synthetic leather *** indicators obtained from the used environmental accounting tools suggest two approaches for a decision: (i) when pursuing sustainability under a global perspective,footwear factory C should be promoted since it causes lower load on the upstream processes by demanding lower emergy (3.8 E 18 sej/yr),abiotic,water and air resources (1.13 E6 kg/yr,3.66 E7 kg/yr,and 3.82 E5 kg/yr respectively);(ii) when pursuing sustainability by considering socioeconomic short to medium needs,footwear factory B should be promoted since it has higher efficiency in producing footwear (4.03E13 sej/kg for emergy demand,10.64 kg/kg for abiotic,319.09 kg/kg for water and 3.96 kg/kg for air).This work contributes with practical basis for the environmental accounting and management of footwear enterprises providing important su
