This paper presents an efficient algorithm for globally solving a generalized linear fractional programming *** establishing this algorithm,we firstly construct a two-level linear relaxation method,and by utilizing the method,we can convert the initial generalized linear fractional programming problem and its subproblems into a series of linear programming relaxation *** on the branch-and-bound framework and linear programming relaxation problems,a branch-and-bound algorithm is presented for globally solving the generalized linear fractional programming problem,and the computational complexity of the algorithm is ***,numerical experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

Evaluation of Machine Unlearning through Model Difference

Increasing attention is being paid to machine unlearning, which supports individuals’ “right to be forgotten.” While most studies focus on the efficiency and effectiveness of unlearning algorithms, the evaluation of machine unlearning effectiveness remains underexplored. Offering robust evaluation services for unlearning is critical, not only to uphold privacy legislation but also to assess and improve existing unlearning methods. Lots of existing methods employ backdoor methods to evaluate unlearning effectiveness, which can only verify the unlearning effect of backdoored samples and negatively impact the model utility as they need to embed backdoors into the model first. In this paper, we propose an evaluating machine unlearning (EMU) method, which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of unlearning and verify data removal without the aforementioned adverse effects. Machine unlearning inherently creates a difference on the model before and after unlearning. The model difference contains information about the unlearned samples, which can be extracted through reconstruction models for unlearning effectiveness evaluation. To efficiently generate the model differences as input for evaluation, we simulate the model changes based on the influence function theory. Additionally, we design a multi-task information bottleneck structure to enhance the scalability of EMU and simplify the analysis of different learning tasks. We provide a theoretical analysis of how the similarity between erased and remaining samples, as well as task types, affects the extent of unlearning—factors that have been largely overlooked. Extensive experiments on various model architectures and representative datasets confirm our analysis, demonstrating the effective evaluation for unlearning without any degradation in the service model utility. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Fatigue driving and distracted driving both belong to bad driving behaviors, but their hazard levels to safe driving are different. Through accurate detection and classification warning, not only driving safety can be ensured, but also transportation efficiency can be improved. According to the view angle, the driver's view is divided into 17 areas, which is more in line with the actual human physiological situation. The experiment was conducted on 30 drivers based on the indicators such as line of sight impact point, number of stay frames, and number of regional impact points, and the original data was analyzed by independent sample t-test. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between fatigue driving and distracted driving. By building a double objective prediction BP neural network model of driving state, two types of bad driving behaviors could be classified and detected with high accuracy. The warning system of fatigue driving and distracted driving was designed to realize the hierarchical warning of two types of bad driving behaviors. © 2023 IEEE.

A facile route to prepare superhydrophobic coating was proposed based on liquid phase deposition of (NH4)2SiF6 followed by modification of n-dodecanethiol. The prepared sponge exhibited excellent superhydrophobicity with water contact angle (WCA) of 157.2º. Owing to its water repellency and self-cleaning property, the prepared sponge was successfully applied in oil-water separation, with high separation efficiency of up to 97% for various mixtures. The separation efficiency retained above 92% after 15 separation cycles, indicating excellent sustainability. Moreover, the coating showed outstanding performance against corrosive solutions, long-time storage in environment and high temperature. The proposed facile technique provides a new route for durable superhydrophobic materials fabrication. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

Use of coupled TG-FTIR and Py-GC/MS to study combustion characteristics of conveyor belts in coal mines

This article lays the groundwork for the prevention and control of coal mine roadway fires, as well as the construction of a mine transportation belt fire early warning system. Through thermogravimetric analysis-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the thermogravimetric changes of coal mine conveyor belts at four heating rates were tested, and seven characteristic temperature points were obtained. The gaseous products released during the belt combustion process were analyzed using pyrolysis–gas chromatography–mass spectrometry, and the combustion reaction process and belt combustion characteristics were investigated. According to the findings, the primary components of the gaseous products emitted during belt combustion were salts, amides, aliphatic hydrocarbons, phthalates, and aromatic hydrocarbons, and these components varied significantly as temperature increased. The belt combustion process was broken down into three phases. In the first stage, dioctyl phthalate molecules escaped, and during this process, carbon–oxygen (C–O) and carbon–carbon (C–C) bonds were broken to generate phthalates, fatty acids, and methane (CH4). In the second stage, conjugated dienes and substituted alkenes generated aromatic hydrocarbons through the Diels–Alder reaction, and the C–O and C–C bonds of the plasticizer (dioctyl phthalate) were continuously cleaved and decarboxylated to generate phthalates, amides, fatty acids, ketones, CO, and H2O (g), whereas CO2 volatilization and fatty acid decarboxylation caused aliphatic hydrocarbons and CO2 to be generated. In the third stage, the phthalates and polyvinyl chloride volatiles generated in the previous stage underwent a reduction–oxidation reaction and were decomposed into aliphatic hydrocarbons, aldehydes, aromatic hydrocarbons, amides, small organic molecules (e.g., benzene, indene, and fluorene), and metal substances that were non-decomposable. © 2023, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.

Based on optimal size design of motor, the manuscript investigates the influence of the gap distance of the slot bottom and the magnetic isolation bridge (SB&MIB) on the performance of an 18.5KW asynchronous starting permanent magnet synchronous motor (ASPMSM). The effects of gap distance on motor torque ripple, air gap harmonics, air gap magnetic density amplitude, motor efficiency, and rotor strength on motor performance are determined. Under the dual constraints of electromagnetic characteristics and rotor mechanical strength, the optimal structural parameter of gap distance is obtained. © 2023 IEEE.

Based on the load characteristics of the fracturing pump, the output power cloud map of the electric motor is first solved in the manuscript. Taking the optimal efficiency of the fracturing pump drive system as the evaluation indicator, an adaptive control function is proposed to make the working point of the fracturing pump fall on the rated point of each frequency band as much as possible through adjustment, solving the problem of poor matching between the electric motor and the fracturing pump at non-rated points. Finally, according to the motor torque model, select typical points to verify the optimal matching strategy. © 2023 IEEE.

Biomechanical behavior of grass roots at different gauge lengths

Gauge length influences the biomechanical properties of herbaceous roots such as tensile resistance,tensile strength and Young’s ***,the extent to which and how these biomechanical properties of herbaceous roots are influenced remain *** better understand the behavior of roots in tension under different conditions and to illustrate these behaviors,uniaxial tensile tests were conducted on the Poa araratica roots as the gauge length increased from 20 mm to 80 ***,ANOVA was used to test the impact of the significant influences of gauge length on the biomechanical properties,nonlinear regression was applied to establish the variation in the biomechanical properties with gauge length to answer the question of the extent to which the biomechanical properties are influenced,and Weibull models were subsequently introduced to illustrate how the biomechanical properties are influenced by gauge *** results reveal that(1)the variation in biomechanical properties with root diameter depends on both the gauge length and the properties themselves;(2)the gauge length significantly impacts most of the biomechanical properties;(3)the tensile resistance,tensile strength,and tensile strain at cracks decrease as the gauge length increases,with values decreasing by 20%-300%,while Young’s modulus exhibits the opposite trend,with a corresponding increase of 30%;and(4)the Weibull distribution is suitable for describing the probability distribution of these biomechanical properties;the Weibull modulus for both tensile resistance and tensile strain at cracks linearly decrease with gauge length,whereas those for tensile strength and Young’s modulus exhibit the opposite *** tensile resistance,tensile strength,and tensile strain at the cracks linearly decrease with increasing gauge length,while the tensile strength and Young’s modulus linearly increase with increasing gauge length.

Coal mine conveyor-belt fires account for numerous mine disasters. Accurate prediction of burning degree is one of the critical factors in preventing and controlling conveyor-belt fires. The sparse qualitative smoke-detection method is challenging to meet the precise early warning of belt fire. Therefore, the Tangkou mine transportation belt was used to analyze TG-DTG curve change late, gas generation law, conversion rate, and apparent activation energy, and other factors at four heating rates via TG-FTIR experiments. The seven characteristic temperatures and their thresholds during belt combustion were experimentally determined, and the process was divided into three stages (I, II, III). The process mainly generated CH4, CO, CO2, and other gases, and the temperature range of various gases was identified. The conversion degree rate of each stage was positively correlated with the temperature. In Stages I and II, activation energy increased with the conversion rate and then decreased. Rate and temperature corresponding to the maximum activation energy were determined. Dynamic compensation effect of the belt combustion process was found. The reactions that could occur at each stage were inferred based on the above-mentioned characteristics;these findings were essential to intelligent comprehensive monitoring and early warning of conveyor-belt fire in a mine laneway. © 2022, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.
