The Southern Trans-Java Route (Jalur Jalan Lintas Selatan – JJLS) infrastructure development is a national program that goes through five provinces in the island of Java, namely the provinces of East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, West Java, and Banten. In Yogyakarta, the Southern Trans-Java Route (JJLS) cuts across three regencies, which are Gunungkidul Regency, Bantul Regency, and Kulonprogo Regency. This research selected locations in Jetis Village, Saptosari District, Gunungkidul Regency, Gadingsari Village, Sanden District, Bantul Regency, and Sindutan Village, Temon District, Kulonprogro Regency for its study. The aims of this research are to analyze price changes that occur. The research method employed in this study is the qualitative descriptive analysis method. The villages set as study locations were determined by purposive method and data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with informants who understand the issues relevant to the research objectives. Based on the acquired study results, the highest change in land price took place in Sindutan Village. A significant increase in land price occurred.

The water treatment depends exclusively on the identification of residues containing toxic chemical elements accumulated in NPs (nanoparticles), and ultrafine particles sourced from waste piles located at old, abandoned sulfuric acid factories containing phosphogypsum requires global attention. The general objective of this study is to quantify and analyze the hazardous chemical elements present in the leachate of waste from deactivated sulfuric acid factories, coupled in NPs and ultrafine particles, in the port region of the city of Imbituba, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Samples were collected in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Corresponding images from the Sentinel-3B OLCI satellite, taken in the same general vicinity, detected the levels of absorption coefficient of Detritus and Gelbstoff (ADG443_NN) in 443 m−1, chlorophyll-a (CHL_NN (m−3)), and total suspended matter (TSM_NN (g m−3) at 72 points on the marine coast of the port region. The results of inductively coupled plasma atomic-emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) demonstrate that the leaching occurring in waste piles at the port area of Imbituba was the likely source of hazardous chemical elements (e.g., Mg, Sr, Nd, and Pr) in the environment. These leachates were formed due to the presence of coal pyrite and Fe-acid sulfates in said waste piles. The mobility of hazardous chemical elements potentiates changes in the marine ecosystem, in relation to ADG443_NN (m−1), CHL_NN (m−3), and TSM NN (g m−3), with values greater than 20 g m−3 found in 2021 and 2022. This indicated changes in the natural conditions of the marine ecosystem up to 30 km from the coast in the Atlantic Ocean, justifying public initiatives for water treatment on a global scale. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Land-use management is the key parameter in developing an agropolitan area. The Spatial Plan of Pati District 2010-2030 contains plans for the Gembong Subdistrict to be developed into an agropolitan area. The Gembong Reservoir is one of the reservoirs in the region that has a vital role in supporting the area development. The main problem in managing the Gembong reservoir is the decreasing availability of reservoir water. Increased sedimentation affects the availability of reservoir water, which is used as a supply of irrigation areas. Management of water availability must be based on optimization analysis, because the volume of storage is limited and increasing inflow to the reservoir to increase the water level requires a long time. Therefore, the optimization model of reservoir water management is urgent to be formulated, so that the reservoir operator can be utilized to determine the allocation of supplementary water. This article presents a study of the results of observations in the field and secondary data, as well as reviews of related scientific articles, to be able to identify potential environmental stresses on reservoir water availability and its management.

Effectiveness of Situ for Ciliwung Flood Mitigation in Bogor Regency

Bogor Regency is one of Regencies in Jabodetabek area that is experiencing rapid urban growth. This condition impacted the decreasing conditions of 39's from 95's urban small lakes or locally known as 'situ'. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of situ Kebantenan and situ Cikaret as Ciliwung flood mitigation measure in the Bogor Regency. The SWAT model was employed for quantification the water balance of situ and watershed management. The simulation results of the water balance analysis indicated that the monthly average of volume of Situ Kabantenan and Situ Cikaret (2008-2015) were 136,955 m3 and 508,907 m3, the annual inflow Situ Cikaret were 24,693,822 m3/year and outflow were 25,177,593 m3/year, precipitation were 648,520 m3/year, evaporation were 166,543 m3/year, delta storage (1,794) m3/year, respectively. The result of hydrological responses analysis on application of situ and watershed management scenarios that combined the structural and non-structural measures was the best scenario for decreasing maximum discharge at situ outlet which is decreased 41% discharge. So that, in order to enhance the effectiveness of situs for Ciliwung flood mitigation, the combination of the structural and non structural management of 13 situ's in Ciliwung river basin within the Bogor Regency is recommended that can increase the storage capacity from 1.8 million m3 to 4.7 million m3.

One factor that influences the water balance on earth is the presence of the rain factors. The Hydrological cycle is a process of water that is evaporated and if the atmosphere allows, water will fall as rain. Interception is an important factor in the hydrological cycle. With the process of interception, rain water that reaches the ground surface becomes reduced. The amount of interception is influenced by land use in a sub-watershed. This research was conducted in the Krueng Jreu sub-watershed, located in Aceh Besar District with an area of 23,189.53 Ha. Land use at this location is generally intended for plantations, wetland agriculture, protected forests, and rural settlements. Most of the citizen around the research location, work as farmers, such as farmers of rice, corn, peanuts, oil palm, and others. In comparison to all types of plants, corn is one of the dominant plants developed in this area. The purpose of this research is to find out the value of interception in maize plants. The value of interception in maize plants aged 1-3 months was analyzed by making a Mini Hydrological Watershed model to obtain a regression equation, where this equation is used to see the interception of maize intercepts on rainwater rainfall observations of 19 variants of observational data from 3 months of research. The amount of interception in maize plants obtained based on the Mini Hydrology Watershed model with logarithmatic regression is 17.62 mm from 205.950 mm of total rainfall.

Cost-Benefit Analysis of Palm Kernel Shells as a Diesel Fuel Substitution for Hot-Mixed Asphalt

Indonesia is one of the biggest oil palm producing countries. Solid waste from processing palm oil into crude palm oil (CPO) includes palm shells. This palm shell waste can be used as an alternative to diesel fuel for aggregate heating. This study aims to analyze the investment of the use of palm shells as an asphalt burner replacing diesel. Primary data were obtained from field and laboratory identification. In contrast, secondary data were obtained from relevant agencies, the Department of Public Development and Public Housing, PT Bara Energi Biomass and PT Damai Citra Mandiri. The method used is a quantitative descriptive analysis by calculating the annual costs and benefits over the machine's life, ten years. This study uses the Cost-Benefit Analysis. Four investment criteria are calculated: (1) Net Present Value (NPV), (2) Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR), (3) Payback period (PbP), (4) Internal rate of return (IRR). The results found that palm shells' use as an asphalt burner for diesel substitutes showed high costs and top benefits. The calculation of economic feasibility with investment criteria shows that the NPV has a positive value, which means it is feasible. BCR shows a ratio of costs and benefits is more than one; it indicates that investment in asphalt production activities is feasible. The calculation of investment in replacing diesel fuel with palm shells shows a positive value of PbP since the first year. The internal rate of return shows that the investment value has met the minimum standard of general interest or replacement.

Wall is the wider component of high-rise building to exposed the sunshine than roof. The building wall in tropical countries receives the solar heat all day and it makes temperature rise of its room and becomes less comfortable. Therefore, a wall with good thermal insulation is needed for buildings in tropical countries. Lightweight foamed concrete (LFC) can be used as a wall brick substitution as well as thermal insulator. The experimental research about LFC was investigated using FA and foam content to the thermal conductivity of LFC. The investigations were performed through the measurement of thermal conductivity, material density, and observation to the morphology of LFC surface. The LFC samples were varied in volume fraction of foam and FA in mortar. The result shows that the increase in volume fraction of foam in all variations of FA content decreases its thermal conductivity. In contrast, the increase of FA content in LFC results in an increase in thermal conductivity until 45 wt% of FA content, then it decreases as the addition of FA. Thus, the optimum thermal conductivity of the LFC was obtained by FA of 45 wt%. The relationship between thermal conductivity and LFC density shows that any increase in LFC density resulted in an increase in thermal conductivity. Otherwise, any decrease in LFC density resulted in a decrease in thermal conductivity.

In this study, sugarcane bagasse ash was used to evaluate the physical, mechanical, and microstructural properties of eco-friendly alkali-activated mixtures with blast furnace slag. Net sodium silicate and solid metasilicate were used as activators to produce conventional and one-part alkali-activated mixtures, respectively. Two types of sugarcane bagasse ash were analyzed: raw (as-received) and calcined. The low number of proposed processes reduces the economic aggregate cost of recycled ash. Further, the blast furnace slag replacement ratios of raw and calcined sugarcane bagasse ash were 10%, 30%, 50%, and 70%. Mortars were prepared for the compressive and flexural strength tests, water absorption, and dry density. Alternatively, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy were used to assess the chemical, mineralogical, and microstructural properties of the prepared pastes. In addition, the fresh test was performed using the flow table test, wherein the spread diameter decreased as the SBA content increased, primarily on the raw ash owing to its high organic material content. Moreover, compressive strength results showed that the compressive strength increased after 3 days for mixtures with 10% and 30% SBA. However, at 28 days, there was a decrease with an increase in the SBA content. Similar behavior was observed in the flexural strength and water absorption tests. Tests on pastes verified the probable presence of alternative phases besides C-(A)-S-H, such as pectolite, brucite, hydrotalcite, and zeolites. In addition, through the combination of scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy techniques, the presence of preserved cellular structure was observed in the alkali-activated matrix, and Ca/Si and Si/Al ratios were calculated. Background: Hearing loss affects access to spoken language, which can affect cognition and development, and can negatively affect social wellbeing. We present updated estimates from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study on the prevalence of hearing loss in 2019, as well as the condition's associated disability. Methods: We did systematic reviews of population-representative surveys on hearing loss prevalence from 1990 to 2019. We fitted nested meta-regression models for severity-specific prevalence, accounting for hearing aid coverage, cause, and the presence of tinnitus. We also forecasted the prevalence of hearing loss until 2050. Findings: An estimated 1·57 billion (95% uncertainty interval 1·51–1·64) people globally had hearing loss in 2019, accounting for one in five people (20·3% [19·5–21·1]). Of these, 403·3 million (357·3–449·5) people had hearing loss that was moderate or higher in severity after adjusting for hearing aid use, and 430·4 million (381·7–479·6) without adjustment. The largest number of people with moderate-to-complete hearing loss resided in the Western Pacific region (127·1 million people [112·3–142·6]). Of all people with a hearing impairment, 62·1% (60·2–63·9) were older than 50 years. The Healthcare Access and Quality (HAQ) Index explained 65·8% of the variation in national age-standardised rates of years lived with disability, because countries with a low HAQ Index had higher rates of years lived with disability. By 2050, a projected 2·45 billion (2·35–2·56) people will have hearing loss, a 56·1% (47·3–65·2) increase from 2019, despite stable age-standardised prevalence. Interpretation: As populations age, the number of people with hearing loss will increase. Interventions such as childhood screening, hearing aids, effective management of otitis media and meningitis, and cochlear implants have the potential to ameliorate this burden.
