Over the past decades, the use of digital technologies to support participatory urban planning and design has been repeatedly described as a crucial instrument and critical building block for tackling historical problems of participation in such processes. Social media, e-participation platforms, and crowdsourcing applications are examples of technologies that can involve citizens in decision-making processes and thus leverage the benefits of collective intelligence. However, despite the extensive use of social media platforms, old problems related to engagement and participation still occur in digital initiatives. Successful collaboration examples between citizens, policymakers, and strategic stakeholders are still scarce based on online social practices. This study aims to introduce a collective intelligence model, which combines crowdsourcing and social storytelling to support participatory urban planning and design from a bottom-up perspective. The paper concludes by discussing a scenario where citizens can engage in mapping, taking photos, sending ideas, or even creating collective stories about their university issues in a post-pandemic future.

Social distancing (SD) has been critical in the fight against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). To aid SD monitoring, many technology companies have made available mobility data, the most prominent example being the community mobility reports (CMR) provided by Google. Given the wide range of research fields that have been drawing insights from CMR data, there has been a rising concern for methodological discussion on how to use them. Indeed, Google recently released their own guidelines, concerning the nature of the place categories and the need for calibrating regional values. In this work, we discuss how measures developed in the field of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) might benefit researchers analyzing this data. Concretely, we discuss how Pareto dominance and performance measures adopted in MCDM enable the mobility evaluation for (i) multiple categories for a given time period and (ii) multiple categories over multiple time periods. We empirically demonstrate these approaches conducting both a region- and country-level analysis, comparing some of the most relevant outbreak examples from different continents. Dynamic processes on networks, be it information transfer in the Internet, contagious spreading in a social network, or neural signaling, take place along shortest or nearly shortest paths. Unfortunately, our maps of most large networks are substantially incomplete due to either the highly dynamic nature of networks, or high cost of network measurements, or both, rendering traditional path finding methods inefficient. We find that shortest paths in large real networks, such as the network of protein-protein interactions (PPI) and the Internet at the autonomous system (AS) level, are not random but are organized according to latent-geometric rules. If nodes of these networks are mapped to points in latent hyperbolic spaces, shortest paths in them align along geodesic curves connecting endpoint nodes. We find that this alignment is sufficiently strong to allow for the identification of shortest path nodes even in the case of substantially incomplete networks. We demonstrate the utility of latent-geometric path finding in problems of cellular pathway reconstruction and communication security. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the increasing development of human-AI teaming structures within and across geographies, the time is ripe for a continuous and objective look at the predictors, barriers, and facilitators of human-AI scientific collaboration from a multidisciplinary point of view. This paper aims at contributing to this end by exploiting a set of factors affecting attitudes towards the adoption of human-AI interaction into scientific work settings. In particular, we are interested in identifying the determinants of trust and acceptability when considering the combination of hybrid human-AI approaches for improving research practices. This includes the way as researchers assume human-centered artificial intelligence (AI) and crowdsourcing as valid mechanisms for aiding their tasks. Through the lens of a unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) combined with an extended technology acceptance model (TAM), we pursue insights on the perceived usefulness, potential blockers, and adoption drivers that may be representative of the intention to use hybrid intelligence systems as a way of unveiling unknown patterns from large amounts of data and thus enabling novel scientific discoveries.

—Dominance move (DoM) is a binary quality indicator that can be used in multi-objective and many-objective optimization to compare two solution sets obtained from different algorithms. The DoM indicator can differentiate the sets for certain important features, such as convergence, spread, uniformity, and cardinality. DoM does not use any reference, and it has an intuitive and physical meaning, similar to the -indicator, and calculates the minimum total move of members of one set so that all elements in another set are to be dominated or identical to at least one member of the first set. Despite the aforementioned properties, DoM is hard to calculate, particularly in higher dimensions. There is an efficient and exact method to calculate it in a bi-objective case only. This work proposes a novel approach to calculate DoM using a mixed integer programming (MIP) approach, which can handle sets with three or more objectives and is shown to overcome the -indicator’s information loss. Experiments, in the bi-objective space, are done to verify the model’s correctness. Furthermore, other experiments, using 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30-objective problems are performed to show how the model behaves in higher-dimensional cases. Algorithms, such as IBEA, MOEA/D, NSGA-III, NSGA-II, and SPEA2 are used to generate the solution sets (however any other algorithms can also be used with the proposed MIP-DoM indicator). Further extensions are discussed to handle certain idiosyncrasies with some solution sets and also to improve the quality indicator and its use for other situations. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. The digital dictionary can not only be used by students of computer and network engineering, but can also by general public, as long as you have an internet connection, anyone can be use this digital dictionaries. The main process in this digital dictionary is the search process. Binary search algorithm used in the search process of binary search algoritm. Over the past decade, online crowdsourcing has established itself as an emerging paradigm that industry and government have been using to harness the cognitive abilities of a multitude of users distributed around the world. In this context, microtask crowdsourcing has become the method of choice for addressing a wide range of diverse problems. Microtasks typically require a minimum of time and cognitive effort, but combined individual efforts have made it possible to accomplish great achievements. The goal of this paper is to contribute to the ongoing effort of understanding whether the same success that microtask crowdsourcing has achieved in other domains can be obtained in the field of social news curation. In particular, we ask whether it is possible to turn online news curation, typically a social and collaborative activity on the Web, into a model in which curatorial activities are mapped into microtasks to be performed by a crowd of online users.

Background: Despite major advances in artificial intelligence (AI) research for healthcare, the deployment and adoption of AI technologies remain limited in clinical practice. In recent years, concerns have been raised about the clinical, technical, ethical and legal risks associated with healthcare AI. To increase adoption in the real world, it is essential that AI technologies are trusted and accepted by patients, clinicians, health organisations and authorities. This paper describes the FUTURE-AI framework as the first international consensus guideline for trustworthy AI in healthcare. Methods: The FUTURE-AI consortium was founded in 2021 and now comprises 117 interdisciplinary experts from 50 countries representing all continents, including AI scientists, clinical researchers, biomedical ethicists, and social scientists. Over a two-year period, the consortium established guiding principles and best practices for trustworthy and deployable AI through an iterative process comprising an in-depth literature review, a modified Delphi survey, and online consensus meetings. Findings: The FUTURE-AI framework was established based on six guiding principles for trustworthy AI in healthcare, i.e. Fairness, Universality, Traceability, Usability, Robustness and Explainability. Through consensus, a set of 30 best practices were defined, addressing technical, clinical, socio-ethical and legal dimensions of trustworthy AI. The recommendations cover the entire lifecycle of healthcare AI, from design, development and validation to regulation, deployment, and monitoring. Interpretation: FUTURE-AI is a structured, risk-informed framework which provides guidance for constructing healthcare AI tools that will be trusted, deployed and adopted in real-world clinical practice. Researchers are encouraged to take the recommendations into account in proof-of-concept stages to facilitate future translation towards clinical practice of healthcare AI. Addressing imbalanced data is essential for accurate prediction. We propose a novel ensemble method of XGBoost and deep Q-learning networks (DQN) for pregnancy risk prediction. First, we train the majority class utilizing XGBoost. We subsequently utilize DQN to train the minority class into binary classifications. Finally, we use the trained models from DQN and XGBoost in ensemble learning to generate the final classification results. The XGBoost-DQN model achieves high performance with 0.9819 in precision, recall, F1-score, and accuracy, outperforming several baseline classifiers on private data from 5,313 pregnant women in Indonesia and showing superior results on public datasets.
