Open Graded Friction Course (OGFC) has been used as a permeable pavement in many countries. OGFC introduces safe road conditions as a pavement material compared to normal asphalt while facilitating the lateral and vertical drainage functions. In Indonesia, one type of OGFC researched to date is porous asphalt. This mix has an advantage in terms of its drainage function, but it lacks the ability to withstand against traffic loads. This research aims to see how binder content affected the performance of porous asphalt mixtures in order to create porous asphalt pavements that met structural and functional requirements. To do so, local aggregates from the West Kalimantan region and several contents of PG-76 polymer modified bitumen were used in this study. Marshall and Cantabro Loss tests were conducted to observe the structural performance, while volumetric properties were used to evaluate the functional performance. The outcomes of this study presents the insight of the relationship between the different content of the binder and the stability, durability, and voids content of the mixture. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This research contextualizes the problem of lack of usability and situational awareness provided by conventional supervision systems (SCADA), its relationship with synoptic screens, alarm systems, and industrial accidents. A standard is introduced to lead conventional systems to the “high performance” concept. All basic knowledge of this concept is shown to demonstrate the bases of the standard. And, finally, how to apply the standard to an industrial plant supervision project.

Assessing Self-Healing in High-Strength Concrete with Superabsorbent Polymers by an Innovative Methodology

This study introduces a novel cracking methodology used in high-strength concrete (HSC) with superabsorbent polymers (SAP) to unveil its actual self-healing potential without fibre reinforcement. Although high-strength concrete allows for more creative structural designs and reduces the amount of building materials used, it often suffers from self-desiccation, which can cause cracking issues. SAP's inclusion in HSC not only addresses the autogenous shrinkage problem but also enhances concrete's self-healing capabilities. This research focuses on the dual role of SAP in mitigating autogenous shrinkage and promoting self-healing in high-strength concrete. An innovative technique was employed to induce uniform, controlled cracks under direct tension by isolating the self-healing agent's effect. The cracking process was developed using nonlinear finite element analysis. Two SAP concentrations (0.3% and 0.6%) were tested on specimens with a consistent crack width of 200 µm. These specimens underwent daily wetting-drying cycles over four months, with evaluations at 7 and 28 days post-cracking. Self-healing effectiveness was measured through mechanical recovery and microscopic examination of crack closure. Results, as expected, revealed a modest healing level but showed the actual potential of self-healing that this kind of concrete (HSC) can be counted on, offering crucial insights into self-healing concrete's practical applications and limitations. This study demonstrates SAP's versatility and highlights another advantage of SAP in high-strength concrete. This advantage, while slight, encourages the use of SAP in concrete and advances the creation of more durable construction materials. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This study utilized bacterial nanofibrilated cellulose in lightweight mortars (0.05 wt.%, 0.15 wt.%, and 0.25 wt.%), aiming to analyze their rheological, mechanical, and microstructural properties. The addition of nanocellulose increased the consistency index of mortars but had no significant effect on flexural and compressive strength. Rheological tests allowed the observation of structural rupture and reconstruction of mortars. Data were adjusted using the Bingham and Herschel-Bulkley models. Nanocellulose improved water retention, delayed setting time, reduced incorporated air content, and density. In the hardened state, it increased thermal conductivity and stabilized dimensional variation while reducing water absorption and void index. Nanocellulose promoted continuous hydration of cement grains, densifying mortar microstructure. However, when nanocellulose agglomerates due to inefficient dispersion, mechanical strength may be reduced. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

On the one hand, a class of model-free integral sliding modes requires damping injection to stabilize the closed-loop system to a certain bound, [1]. This technique has been extended to a variety of robots, including quadrotors. However, the damping matrix K value is difficult to calculate precisely. Henceforth, it is customary to overestimate it in practice, which is ritical for airborne robots, such as a lightweight quadrotor, which leads to a higher rate of dissipation with higher energy expenditure, which is highly inefficient. On the other hand, novel Reinforcement Learning (RL) schemes have also been developed for autotuning feedback gains, mainly using Actor-Critic (AC)-RL architectures. In this paper, we synergistically blend both schemes to learn the necessary K that enables the enforcement of integral sliding modes to control of the attitude of the quadrotors. Local robust exponential tracking is achieved without any pre-training of neural networks neither of adaptive parameters nor any knowledge of dynamics. A representative comparative simulation study is presented that shows the effectiveness of our scheme versus the fixed-gain case. The results show how critical it is K to complete the flight mission without wasting energy, then less battery consumption, an essential by-product of our formulation. As a future work, an experimental testbed is under development to test it in soft real-time, including its extension to position tracking.

Due to increased high penetration of renewable energy resources in power systems, the concept of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) has been proposed to aggregate Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to act like a single power plant. In this context, the purpose of this work is the development of a method to aggregate DER units, which use the interface with the electrical network by converters, representing them by equivalent VPPs. In addition to this representation, it is necessary to estimate the parameters of the equivalent VPP model. The method used for this purpose is based on the Gray-box method and a Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm, which allows the use of measurement data that can be performed at the boundary between the distribution system and the system under study. The model is validated using the MATLAB/SIMULINK software to simulate a test network and obtain parameters of the equivalent model.

In this paper, the performance of a shunt active power filter is discussed using the strategies of direct power control based on the hysteresis method and model predictive control. This paper's objective is to evaluate the reduction of harmonic components that would be injected into the electrical grid by a non-linear load, power semiconductor losses, average switching frequency and root mean square error for variables of control and your references. The comparison uses the same system model and parameters for both strategies. Simulation and experimental results are discussed.

Our article presents a comprehensive analysis of trends and directions in the application of machine learning in the FinTech sector. Ceramic membrane support derived from spent bleaching earth (SBE) become a novel study due to their low-cost, sustainable features, abundance material, and there is not yet applicated as membrane. In this study, flat disk ceramic membrane configuration was fabricated and characterized from solid waste of crude palm oil bleaching process by pressing method in different SBE loading mass (38-42 %wt.). The SBE as raw material was deoiled using n-hexane and acetone solvent, followed by fabricated it become flat disk SBE membranes. Afterward, the SBE flat disk membranes was characterized through fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer. The result exhibits the flat disk SBE ceramic membrane has dimension of 41 and 6 mm for diameter and thickness, respectively. SBE membranes indicating have montmorillonite structure due to presence of silica as main component materials of SBE. Besides that, the existence of siloxane vibration band in SBE membranes for the sample after regeneration with n-hexane and acetone were dominated over using raw SBE. It concludes the oil residue was removed and produced SBE membrane properties become robust with less organic contaminant. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

This study provides an initial exploration and further understanding of the factors that are parameters in evaluating the success of Enterprise Architecture (EA) implementation. An evaluation process is needed to ensure that the EA project implementation provides effectiveness, efficiency, and feasibility of the EA information system as well as assessing previous project experience to avoid future EA project risks. The research aims to present a Systematic Literature Review based on the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion so that 14 main articles are selected for review with strong actual relevance. The study results provide insights and references that can be used to further explore key factors in evaluating the success of EA implementation in the future. It was found that there were ten factors that most influenced the evaluation of the success of EA implementation and it was concluded that two potential factors were the most influential and required further exploration in evaluating the success of EA implementation which could be applied in various sectors/dimensions. This study contributes as an initial reference for overcoming problems in investigating and exploring the factors that influence the success of EA implementation as an effort to assess the success of achieving future organizational goals.
