In the last decade, evidence-based medical practice has been supported on a large scale by computerized decision support tools, aiming to reduce diagnostic and therapeutic uncertainty, complementing the actions of the health professional. With technological developments, it is now possible to consider these systems as part of clinical intervention, both for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The literature has described the implementation of e-health tools, that is, technological innovations in the health area such as software, applications, serious games, among others, as a strategy to improve the process and adherence to treatment. However, there is still no standardized instrument in Brazil that can be used to guide the development, from the research phase, and the implementation of these tools as a health intervention, also impacting patient outcomes. With the objective of investigating a new therapeutic and preventive form, based on intervention with a computerized system, this work proposes the creation of guidelines for the registration and implementation of e-health tools as a clinical intervention. The proposal aims to be able to assist in the reporting standardization from the development stage to the application of the e-health tool helping in the treatment of diseases, registering all the experience lived in the research and applying it in different contexts of health.

Thermal Degradation of Pan Fibers Modified with Hydrazine Hydrate and Strontium Ions

In this work, we added strontium ions to hydrolyzed PAN fibers to improve their thermal resistance. For comparison, we characterized hydrolyzed non-modified (PAN-H) and strontium-modified PAN fibers (PAN-H-Sr) by several techniques, such as XRD, FTIR, TG, DSC, and SEM. Our XRD diffractograms demonstrated that PAN-H-Sr was more crystalline, while the FTIR spectra confirmed that PAN textile fiber underwent hydrolysis by breaking nitrile group bonds, incorporating the refractory cation into the fiber through the O – Sr – O bond. SEM micrographs showed that the width of the PAN-H-Sr fiber decreased, and a stiffer structure was obtained. The TG and DSC analysis indicated that PAN-H-Sr presented higher thermal stability since the presence of strontium delayed the degradation reactions of PAN, with no visible melting of the material, and at the end of the heat treatment, exposed a more significant residual mass equivalent to 48.55%. © 2023, The Authors. The effectiveness of domestic wastewater treatment in reducing BOD and COD levels: A literature review

80% of the use of clean water by the community becomes wastewater which must be managed first before being discharged into surface water bodies not to cause disturbances to the water body environment, public health, and environmental aesthetics. This study examines the effectiveness of seven reactors for domestic wastewater treatment in reducing levels of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). These reactors are the Moving Bed Biofilter Reactor (MBBR) with kaldness media, only MBBR, filtration pipes, the addition of papaya seed bio coagulant, Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB), pipes filled with soil, and a combination of filtration and Anaerobic Baffled Reactor (ABR). This research was conducted with a descriptive method of literature review. The results showed that the reactors, respectively, reduced BOD levels by 83.3%; 78.9%; 15.75%; 93%; 36.9%; 76%; and 79%. They were able to reduce COD levels by 84.2%; 80.58%; 16.79%; 93%; 67.8%; 58%; and 68%. The addition of papaya seed bio coagulant is the most effective reactor to reduce BOD and COD because it contains tannin compounds that have effective clotting ability.

Exploring materials with high nonlinearities derived from organic and biological sources has become a significant focus within the scientific community. Among these materials, carbon dots (CDs) synthesized from biomass have emerged as promising candidates due to their sustainable and cost-effective production methods. This study synthesized CDs from Orbignya speciosa (babassu coconut) biomass via a hydrothermal route. UV–visible absorption and Infrared spectrum analysis revealed characteristic bands associated with the formation of dots and the electronic transitions π–π* from aromatic C=C bonds in the CDs’ core and n–π* transitions of surface carboxylate groups, photoluminescence as a function of temperature and lifetime decay measurements show that the photoluminescence mechanisms in these materials due this transitions comes from electronic indirect transitions from primary sources of the core and carbonyl boundings in the surface of the material, additionally, to this the Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Transmission Electronic Microscopy (TEM) give the structural properties of the dots, amorphous and with a large size distribution with a mean size of (21 ± 1) nm. Thermal lens spectroscopy (TLS) was employed to determine the material's thermal diffusivity, reaching a maximum value of 2.03 × 10−7 m2/s as a function of dilution. The Z-scan technique under continuous wave (CW) excitation at 532 nm investigated nonlinear optical properties, yielding a maximum thermal nonlinear refractive index (n2(th)) value of −5.87 × 10−5 esu. Furthermore, the photothermal efficiency of the CDs was quantified at 505 nm, demonstrating a high absorption efficiency of 94.9 %, suggesting their potential application in photothermal therapies. These findings contribute to understanding babassu coconut CDs’ thermo-optical behavior, highlighting their promise for various practical applications, particularly in biomedicine. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Bogor Regency is one of Regencies in Jabodetabek area that is experiencing rapid urban growth. This condition impacted the decreasing conditions of 39's from 95's urban small lakes or locally known as 'situ'. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of situ Kebantenan and situ Cikaret as Ciliwung flood mitigation measure in the Bogor Regency. The SWAT model was employed for quantification the water balance of situ and watershed management. The simulation results of the water balance analysis indicated that the monthly average of volume of Situ Kabantenan and Situ Cikaret (2008-2015) were 136,955 m3 and 508,907 m3, the annual inflow Situ Cikaret were 24,693,822 m3/year and outflow were 25,177,593 m3/year, precipitation were 648,520 m3/year, evaporation were 166,543 m3/year, delta storage (1,794) m3/year, respectively. The result of hydrological responses analysis on application of situ and watershed management scenarios that combined the structural and non-structural measures was the best scenario for decreasing maximum discharge at situ outlet which is decreased 41% discharge. So that, in order to enhance the effectiveness of situs for Ciliwung flood mitigation, the combination of the structural and non structural management of 13 situ's in Ciliwung river basin within the Bogor Regency is recommended that can increase the storage capacity from 1.8 million m3 to 4.7 million m3. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Having a better understanding of air pollutants in railway systems is crucial to ensure a clean public *** study measured,for the first time in Brazil,nanoparticles(NPs)and black carbon(BC)on two groundlevel platforms and inside trains of the Metropolitan Area of Porto Alegre(MAPA).An intense sampling campaign during thirteen consecutive months was carried out and the chemical composition of NPs was examined by advanced microscopy *** results showed that highest concentrations of the pollutants occur in colder seasons and influenced by variables such as frequency of the trains and passenger ***,internal and external sources of pollution at the stations were *** predominance of NPs enriched with metals that increase oxidative stress like Cd,Fe,Pb,Cr,Zn,Ni,V,Hg,Sn,and Ba both on the platforms and inside trains,including Fe-minerals as hematite and magnetite,represents a critical risk to the health of passengers and employees of the *** interdisciplinary and multi-analytical study aims to provide an improved understanding of reported adverse health effects induced by railway system aerosols.

Application of Artificial Neural Networks for Forecasting Brazilian CO 2

Brazil is a developing country that emits high amounts of CO2 per year. Therefore, controlling these emissions is essential for achieving sustainable development. In this paper, we modeled an Artificial Neural Network capable of quantitatively relating the CO2 emissions, energy matrix, and fires in the Brazilian biomes, such as the Amazon. Our results showed that Brazilian CO2 emissions will increase in the coming years. However, the partial replacement of fossil energy resources by renewable ones associated with fire reduction in Brazilian biomes could significantly reduce these emissions. Thus, the model developed here can help Brazil to predict and control its CO2 emissions from changes in its socio-economic indicators to find the balance between development and sustainability. Our model can also be used by other developing countries. For that, it is necessary that the indicators are adapted to the reality of the studied country. © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In its competitive form, CrossFit® intends on assessing the performance of athletes in a wide variety of aspects that determine their conditioning. CrossFit Games is an official competition and intends to recognize the best conditioned athlete in the world to each class. Thus, measuring an athlete’s Physical Conditioning is, in a sense, assigning a set of performance outputs that can determine the efficiency and efficacy of the athlete, discriminating the performance of one or more athletes. Since the scores obtained by the athletes in the various workouts are directly identifiable, the conditioning can be seen through the performance in a competition, it is, therefore, a result of the interpretation and scope of the workouts in measuring the performance. This work analyzed data form "CrossFit Open" and has as an objective to propose a new theoretical arrangement to the sport discipline while being of the Item Response Theory which is capable of providing data such as, discriminatory capacity and difficulty level of the workouts, as well as, an assessment of the competition. In other words, intends to describe the probability of an athlete performing a workout and obtaining a score, given his/her physical conditioning. Analysis of the main indications that refer to a good quality of the measurement tool indicates it is a high quality competition. Lastly, this work accomplished both objectives proposed, methodological as well as practical, and recognizes the limitations derived from the reduced amount of qualitative data on the topic and the little use of applied probability models. © 2022, CC BY.

Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is considered a Non-Conventional Food Plant (NCFP), as it is a vegetable that is underutilized by the population. This specie, like spinach (Spinacea oleracea), has high levels of oxalic acid, an antinutrient that interferes with the bioaccessibility of minerals such as calcium and iron. The valuation of NCFP through scientific research has gained strength over the last few years and the oxalic acid content in vegetables and juices containing conventional or non-conventional vegetables, which have considerable levels of antinutrients, needs to be investigated. Therefore, evaluating and developing new alternative methods that determine the oxalic acid content with less matrix interference, such as the use of Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS), can contribute to science and consumers. © 2024, The Authors. The Filter Bank Multi Carrier (FBMC) has been studied as replacement for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) on the physical layer of the telecommunication systems. FBMC presents improvements on the spectrum utilization, bit rate and robustness to interference, without the need for inclusion of a Cyclic Prefix (CP). Since the orthogonality among symbols on FBMC is accomplished by means of using Offset QAM (OQAM), channel estimation becomes a challenge. This work presents a scattered pilot frame proposed for digital TV and a cubic spline interpolation combined with DFT-based iterative channel estimation method with statistical limit. The system was developed and tested on GNU Radio Companion (GRC) environment and its performance was analyzed on noise and multipath scenarios. The Bit Error Rate (BER) curves shows the better performance of proposed model.
