The combined effect of hydrocolloid addition and microwave heating on the structural, physical and functional properties of cassava starch remains underexplored, despite individual studies on these modification methods. The dielectric properties, important for the microwave treatment of starch, have received little attention in recent studies. Cassava starch with and without addition of hydrocolloids (guar and xanthan gums) was modified by microwave heating for two different exposure times, and its structural, functional, and dielectric properties were studied. The dual modification enhanced the swelling power and oil holding capacity of the starch, reduced its gelatinization temperature, and did not alter its crystallinity. Notably, xanthan-modified starch microwaved for 6 min exhibited higher color variation (ΔE*) and increased granules agglomeration, while the microwave treatment alone roughened the surface of the starch granules. The mean diameters D[4,3] of starch increased with xanthan gum addition, microwave treatment (6 min), and their combination. The relative permittivity (ε’), loss factor (ε”) and penetration depth (D_p) were lower for samples modified by the combined method. Considering the type of hydrocolloid and the microwave exposure time, the combined modification significantly influenced the properties of starch, offering a promising approach to producing starch with enhanced functional properties. © 2024 KeAi Communications Co., Ltd

This paper write about UNP Extinc Metric. It is new approach and methods how to calculate extinc condition for wild animals especially bilih fish from Lake Singkarak. We introduce new criteria and ombine to seven categories from IUCN. For bilih fish we can calculate number extinc 49 and the meaning is endangered We conclude after that result we can conserve bilih fsh soon as soon for our life in biosfer. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Electro-Fenton is part of electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs) which have been widely used to treat various types of waste such as color, drugs, phenol compounds, leachate, surfactants, and others. Green campus is a concept, which integrates environmental science into policy, management and activities of the college. Green campus is also the implementation of the integration of environmental science in all aspects of management and sustainable development practices. Therefore, the standards for referral and encouragement to management in developing a green campus program are needed, one of which is UI GreenMetric. The purpose of this study are to determine how the program of UI GreenMetric is implemented at Diponegoro University and to provide recommendations in the category or indicator that has not been fulfilled. Optimizing the implementation of UI GreenMetric can be used as a further reference in the development of green campus concept in Indonesia. This study uses data in the form of a literature study of standards and guidelines used by UI GreenMetric which are considered in accordance with the strategy of increasing effectiveness in implementing green campus. The results showed the value obtained by Diponegoro University in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings standards. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2019.

Water quality of Maninjau Lake, West Sumatera Province based on pollution and STORET indices

Maninjau Lake can be found in West Sumatra province, specifically in the Tanjung Raya District of the Agam Regency. The Government and the nearsocieties utilize the lake catchment area aimed at agriculture, refreshment, settlement and floating net cages. Increased anthropogenic activity can affect the quality of the lake. This investigation’s goal is to assess Lake Maninjau’s water quality using the Pollution Index (PI) and the Storage and Retrieval (STORET) method. The research was showed at five sampling stations in the Maninjau Lake area from November 2021. The water quality in Maninjau Lake is classified as moderately polluted by the STORET method. Nonetheless, the Maninjau Lake’s water quality falls under different categories according to the PI. From Good condition to Moderately polluted is the range for Class I (in use as a water source for drinking). Lightly to Moderately polluted is Class II (outdoor recreation assets and facilities, fishery, livestock farming, and agricultural uses). Class III, on the other hand (meant for breeding freshwater fish, raising livestock, and watering crops) and Class IV irrigation systems are categorized as Good condition and lightly polluted, respectively.

The offshore support vessel (OSV) industry is essential to the successful exploration and production of oil and gas at sea. Understanding the factors that dictate this industry’s success is crucial and can indicate the actions that must be taken by industry players to survive in this market. Despite the Brazilian OSV industry being part of an extensive supply network, decision-makers operating in this industry still do not know what the critical success factors (CSFs) are, which has implications for the flexibility of companies in this industry. In this context, this paper is devoted to the identification of the CSFs of the OSV industry in Brazil, a country that obtains 95% of its oil production from the sea and that has faced economic and political turbulence in recent years. In this study, nine macro CSFs and 25 micro CSFs were identified through a mixed-methodology approach. This study provides insights both for scholars and practitioners involved in not only the OSV industry but the entire oil and gas supply chain. © 2020, Global Institute of Flexible Systems Management.

Sustainable practices at construction sites should be considered from the start of the project, meaning during the design phase. A model for the implementation of sustainability at a site is an important management tool, and its adoption can indicate good practices and propose an assessment of local conditions. Thus, the main contribution of this article is to propose a practical model to evaluate the level of implementation of sustainable practices at construction sites. The model was based on sustainability certifications and validated at six construction sites in Brazil. The results indicate that construction companies that possess environmental certifications have better levels of implementation of good practices at their work sites. However, it was noted that it is not necessary for a company to obtain an environmental certification;rather, it is necessary for sustainability strategies to become corporate culture. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Construction projects are known to be complex, due to being subject to uncertainty and variability. The use of buffers to protect them from the detrimental impact of variability has been well-researched. A key managerial choice is not whether or not to buffer variability, but rather how to define the necessary combination of buffers. Slack is a concept related to buffers but has been used in the literature to describe a broader range of strategies for coping with complexity. It allows an organisation to adapt to internal pressures for adjustment or to external pressures for change in policy. This paper aims to further develop the concept of slack and to unveil its relationships with other concepts and ideas that are partly overlapping such as buffers, resilience, robustness, flexibility, and redundancy. A concept map was devised in order to articulate the nature of the slack concept. Construction projects are exposed to a wide diversity of variabilities, which suggests the existence of a correspondent wide diversity of variability coping mechanisms, whether they are designed or not. This wide diversity is not properly accounted for by the concept of buffer, as it neglects the social and informal dimensions of coping with variability. The use of the concept of slack is proposed as an alternative. A companion IGLC 29 paper defines slack and discusses its relationships with proxy concepts such as flexibility and resilience. This paper presents nine practical examples of slack in managerial processes and topics that are of interest for the lean construction community. These examples suggest that, while slack has been concealed by the lack of theorization and consistent terminology, it is ubiquitous in lean construction.
