Currently, the whole world is facing the critical economy crash and enormous casualties as the ongoing coronavirus continues its intensive attack across the planet. Sadly, individuals in billions of numbers continue to face a constant threat from this contagious disease, with the condition unlikely to getting any improvement soon. In this paper, the aim is to provide an overview study of the current situation concerning the COVID-19 outbreak and the potential role of Internet of Things (IoT) as well as the associated technologies acting as technological solution in mitigating the outbreak. Thus, some potential literatures have been briefly reviewed for this paper as a research method. The review results indicate that, several technological solutions are innovated to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic effects. Digital technologies play a major role in the reformation of public health response towards the COVID-19 pandemic. Among digital technologies which have been at the front line include the IoT. Some examples and potential applications of IoT are discussed. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Gejlek or Galah is a conventional wood-made seed planting tools aid common used by corn farmers. The limited functions and heavy weight of the existing seed planting caused low productivity and long duration in planting activity. The aim of the research is to design and to develop seed planting tools which able to accommodate user needs. User-Centered Design (UCD) methods used to design product focused on customer satisfaction. 15 respondents involved in this research to measure productivity, practicality, reliability and ergonomic. Validity test represent by F-value produce result test in between 0.354 to 0.625 where Ftest > Ftab means reject H0 or seed planting tools design able to fulfil user needs and different from previous design. User test show how work load against pulse measurement improve 26.44% and Nordic Body Map decrease by average 25% which mean there are significant improvement in terms of work load and ergonomics. In our university, we are developing a project about Reconfigurable Network Processors (RNP). There are four important results: Reconfigurable CISC Network Processor (RCNP) architecture, Reconfigurable RISC Network Processor (R2NP) architecture, Network Processor Simulator (NPSIM), and a performance analytical model for the ISA (Instruction Set Architecture). The architectures and the simulator are not commercial products, but conceptual models. This paper shows the main functionality of those four results and the their applicability on the Network Processor learning. As our Network Processor architectures and simulator are simpler than commercial products, their conceptual models can aid students to learn network processors concepts, as a first step to understand other complex architectures.

This study aimed to explore the end user's preferences regarding the features of an android app by classifying them with the Kano Model. The list of features was based on ISO/IEC 25010 combined with Android Core App Quality Guidelines. This expert system android app which is named 'Pilih Media' is used to help teachers selecting learning media based on Anderson's theory of learning media selection. Respondents in this study were 50 teachers. Kano model was used in this study as a guideline in making questionnaires and also analyzing the data. From the study, it can be concluded that there are 17 features classified as the Attractive requirement category, six features classified as One-dimensional category, one feature classified as Must-be category, and five features classified as the Indifferent category. Overall, it seems that a lot of features have the potential to increase the end user's satisfaction. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Synthesis and characterization of Ba and Sr celsian ceramics from zeolites obtained from amazonian bauxite waste clay

This study explored the use of bauxite washing clay (BWC), a mining residue from the Amazon region, as a raw material for the synthesis of zeolites, followed by their conversion into barium and strontium celsian ceramics. The BWC, rich in gibbsite and kaolinite, demonstrated significant potential due to its high aluminum and silicon content. Zeolites were synthesized through alkaline activation with 1 M NaOH at 350 °C for 4 h, followed by hydrothermal treatment at 100 °C for 24 h. Ion exchange with Ba 2+ and Sr 2+ cations was then performed, and the obtained materials were thermally treated at 1200 °C. The results showed the formation of monoclinic barium celsian with high crystallinity, while Sr-celsian exhibited partial conversion, retaining nepheline as a secondary phase. Monoclinic barium celsian exhibited superior mechanical properties, achieving a compressive strength of 15.9 MPa in compositions with lower silica content, whereas Sr-celsian reached 11.94 MPa. In conclusion, this study highlights the potential of BWC as a valuable and sustainable precursor for advanced ceramic production.

Land degradation is defined as a condition in which the quantity and quality of land resources needed to support ecosystem functions and services and increase food security continues to decline on a temporal and spatial scale under certain ecosystem conditions (Sarino et al. in IOP Conf Ser Earth Environ Sci, pp 1–10, 2019). These changes, combined with population growth, have led to the conversion of agricultural land to developed land, high exploitation of natural and mineral resources, and urbanization, which usually leads to more significant land degradation (Putranto et al. in pp 100016-1–100016-10, 2017). Sub-watershed scale analysis related to the distribution of degraded land by utilizing multi-temporal geospatial layers (Putranto et al. in Int J Geomate 14(45):28–34, 2018) helps provide a regionally consistent data set of required land distribution. Therefore, it can support agendas aligned with sustainable development goals (SDGs) (Guo et al. in 11:1–20, 2019). By utilizing scientific big earth data, which is periodically integrated with terrestrial, aquatic, and hydrological data, it has the potential to assess degraded land as outlined in SDG’s target point 15.3.1 (Yuono et al. in J Ecol Eng 21:126–130, 2020). The Rawas sub-watershed is a river drainage area that originates at one of the peaks of Mount Kerinci. Geologically, the Rawas sub-watershed includes lowlands which are quarterly alluvial deposits from the Pleistocene to the present age. The availability of water in the Rawas watershed until 2020 is sufficient to serve the villages in the watershed. With the most significant water resource potential in November, December, and January to March, approximately 52 mm/month. Meanwhile, in other months, water availability in the Rawas watershed is below 3 mm/month and even close to 0 mm/month. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Exploring materials with high nonlinearities derived from organic and biological sources has become a significant focus within the scientific community. Among these materials, carbon dots (CDs) synthesized from biomass have emerged as promising candidates due to their sustainable and cost-effective production methods. This study synthesized CDs from Orbignya speciosa (babassu coconut) biomass via a hydrothermal route. UV–visible absorption and Infrared spectrum analysis revealed characteristic bands associated with the formation of dots and the electronic transitions π–π* from aromatic C=C bonds in the CDs’ core and n–π* transitions of surface carboxylate groups, photoluminescence as a function of temperature and lifetime decay measurements show that the photoluminescence mechanisms in these materials due this transitions comes from electronic indirect transitions from primary sources of the core and carbonyl boundings in the surface of the material, additionally, to this the Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Transmission Electronic Microscopy (TEM) give the structural properties of the dots, amorphous and with a large size distribution with a mean size of (21 ± 1) nm. Thermal lens spectroscopy (TLS) was employed to determine the material's thermal diffusivity, reaching a maximum value of 2.03 × 10−7 m2/s as a function of dilution. The Z-scan technique under continuous wave (CW) excitation at 532 nm investigated nonlinear optical properties, yielding a maximum thermal nonlinear refractive index (n2(th)) value of −5.87 × 10−5 esu. Furthermore, the photothermal efficiency of the CDs was quantified at 505 nm, demonstrating a high absorption efficiency of 94.9 %, suggesting their potential application in photothermal therapies. These findings contribute to understanding babassu coconut CDs’ thermo-optical behavior, highlighting their promise for various practical applications, particularly in biomedicine. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Grounded by students' lack of conceptual understanding in identifying and comprehending basic concepts of computer network, this quasi-experimental study aims to identify the effect of applying blended learning model toward the improvement of students' conceptual understanding. It was designed using non-equivalent control group design in which the experimental group and the control group were differently treated using, respectively, blended learning and conventional learning model. There were 58 students selected as the sample of the research;30 students in experimental class and 28 students in control class. Essay test was chosen to collect the data of the conceptual understanding of the students in both groups. Using MANOVA, the data analysis revealed the significant effect of applying blended learning model toward students' conceptual understanding with P = 0.000 © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper proposes a new methodology for sensitivity analysis evaluation, fast and with high precision of the electric potential distribution near the transmission lines (TL's). The TL is modeled by the finite element method and the sensitivity of the cable positions is obtained using the adjoint method. The sensitivity of the objective function during the optimization process by using methods based on gradient information is obtained by using the adjoint method. The exact sensitivity obtained by the adjoint method concerning the numeric model of the TL's results in new geometries of the bundles conductors with high surge impedance loading. These geometries are not possible to get using analytic models. The sensitivities of a large number of conductors by phase are obtained with high precision and very low computational cost using adjoint sensitivities, which are independent of the number of design variables. The central finite difference method is used to calculate the sensitivities and to validate the adjoint method. With this methodology, the FEM model of the TL can be used during the optimization process without compromising the required computational processing time. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Some fuzzy time series models have their own advantages and disadvantages. In addition, these models sometimes are complex and claimed to have better forecasting result than each other. The suitable model for forecasting depends on a wide variety of considerations. The models proposed by Chen (1996) applied simplified arithmetic operations and claimed more efficiency than before. The model proposed by Chen was introduced in 1996 and still exists in several previous studies. This research aims to forecast the number of railway passengers in Indonesia using the fuzzy time series. In addition, this research also evaluates the forecasting results based on mean absolute error (MAE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). The results showed the forecasting results in this research has accuracy for 86.6%. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.
