Study on characteristics of calophyllum inophyllum oil as a new alternative cutting fluid

Nyamplung tree or calophyllum inophyllum is widely spread and plentiful in Indonesia. Its seed is rich of oil (65-75% oil content) and potentially developed as non-edible oil. However, in fact it is not commercially yet. At the moment, some research has been carried out by using its oil for biodiesel, basic ingredients for soap, beauty products and medicines. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the feasibility of calophyllum inophyllum oil for cutting fluids. Previously, some vegetable cutting oils have been tried and they are potentially succeed as a replacing mineral oil. The calophyllum inophyllum oil is made from their seed in several steps: (i) drying for 4-6 hours, (ii) milling, (iii) drying with oven temperature of 65°C for 21 days, (iv) pressing in a press machine, (v) extraction mechanically and then (vi) separation by washing in a-4000 rpm centrifugal machine for 30 minutes. The examined characteristics are viscosity, flash point, and pour point. The test methods that used for each physical properties are in accordance with standards ASTM D445-04 and ASTM D 2270, ASTM D 93-02a, ASTM D 97-05 respectively. The observation results showed the characteristics of the oil are (i) viscosity of 58,887 cSt (at 40°C) and of 11,879 cSt (at 100°C), (ii) flash point of 104°C, (iii) pour point 176°C. If compared to mineral cutting fluids, the physical characteristics of calophyllum inophyllum oil are not much different. It implies that calophyllum inophyllum oil can be used as a new environmentally friendly cutting fluid. The utilization of calophyllum inophyllum oil for cutting fluids will be able to elevate the economic potential of the society.

Urban in Indonesia, is no longer limited as a center of community settlement. Now the city also functions as a center of government, a central hierarchy, and a center of economic growth. As a logical consequence of the role of cities as a center of growth and economy, urban contributions to national economic growth are increasing. To overcome this problem, a portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system was designed. With the portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system, the dryer will be easily moved and flexible to use. The advantage of portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system is the drying process could be done continuously with a little human power. Therefore, this portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system is designed to use renewable energy sources. To examine the portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system, the foodstuff was used for a testing of ingredients. The portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system testing show that the amount of water content in the foodstuff reduced, the drying rate accelerate. In addition, the amount of heat energy needed for the drying process also reduced. Hence process of drying foodstuff more efficienct. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The mandatory carbon reduction guidelines and regulations in Indonesia encourage all industrial sectors particularly the petroleum industry to implement decarbonization programs by systematically reducing carbon emissions as part of climate action. Unlike existing carbon emission studies in the petroleum industry, the literature lacks studies on the decarbonization patterns. In addition, the effectiveness of carbon mitigation in the upstream oil and gas field has not been studied so far. This study developed short panel data models to understand the current decarbonization efforts and patterns during 2015–2018. The results indicate that the considered variables are significantly impactful in carbon reduction with different coefficient patterns. It is suggested to associate decarbonization with oil and gas production and highlight energy efficiency optimization to stabilize production. The impact of financial, human, and administrative resources on the supporting facility is critical for executing sustainable carbon mitigation projects. © 2024 The Authors

Mechatronics is one of the compulsory subjects taken by students Department of mechanical engineering, State University of Malang because it is closely connected with the control system in the industry. The problems that appear in mechatronic practicum are: 1) lack of practicum proposition; 2) learning resources are limited; and 3) there is no job sheet of practicum. The solution used from the front end analysis. The purpose of this research and development are 1) to develop trainer PLC and also can be simulated on a computer, 2) develop modules, and 3) develop job sheet as a learning resource mechatronics training. This research is a research and development with ADDIE development model that comprises the step of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In the analysis phase will be performed need analysis and front-end analysis. At the stage of development, will be carried out expert validation and user validation. In the implementation phase, formative evaluation will be conducted. Whereas summative evaluation at this stage of the evaluation was not done because of the research that will be done only at the stage looking at the feasibility of the media developed. The results of the validation experts during the development stage, the developed media included in the rate valid and suitable to use (96.36%). Based on the user validation results, developed media included in the rate valid and suitable to use (90.00%). At stage of individual testing, obtained the average results of student test is 86 and the results of questionnaires students' perceptions on the media is a suitable to use (87.62%). Feasibility testing of my Otoman electropneumatic gloves to improve lower arm strength of patient with stroke

Patients with stroke generally experience disability in their extremities which require a long time of rehabilitation in hospitals. The advancement of technology creates many equipments to aid the rehabilitation. The current study aimed to develop mobility aid in the form of gloves equipped with an electropneumatic device to assist post stroke therapy doing rehabilitation independently. We developed My Otoman gloves, a pneumatically driven system and conducted initial testing of the gloves among patients with stroke. My Otoman glove consists of: (1) a glove, (2) a microcontroller system (3) electro pneumatic. Initial testing was conducted among eight patients with stroke. Our study shows that the device prototype is able to help patients with post stroke condition who had lower arm mobility impairment to open their hand. Muscle strength in lower arm was increased after the use of My Otoman glove. In term of easiness using the glove, the average score of patient’s rate was 3.63 of 5 point means that the glove was easy and comfort when being used. Results from the current study will be used to guide further improvements to the device which could be applied in the clinical practice.

Global energy consumption increases year after year, causing the depletion of non-renewable sources. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global demand for electrical energy is expected to increase by 3.3% in 2024. Therefore, developing new renewable sources is urgent, including new devices for energy storage and conversion, particularly those governed by electrochemical reactions. Water splitting is a clean and sustainable technology capable of facing this issue by producing oxygen and hydrogen from water and electricity. However, a problem related to this technology is the slow kinetics, making it necessary to develop new electrocatalysts with high electrochemical performance. To meet this requirement, this work deals with for the first time a high entropy oxide with rock-salt structure synthesized by a green solgel synthesis using red seaweed (Rhodophyta) as polymerizing agent. Solgel synthesis allows the large-scale production of nanomaterials with high uniformity and dispersion of the chemical elements involved. The literature, which discussed the production of these oxides, reveals that agents harmful to the environment are applied during the synthesis steps, including sodium hydroxide, acetic acid, hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide, urea, and ammonia. The composition of the high entropy oxide is (Mg0.2 Ni0.2 Co0.2 Cu0.2 Zn0.2 )O, it displays a low overpotential (336 mV vs. RHE at 10 mA cm-2 ), Tafel slope of 68 mV dec-1 , and excellent durability. The electrochemical performance of the high entropy oxide prepared in this work is superior to other electrocatalysts of the same class that were produced using transition metal-based precursors. © 2024, The Authors. The production of biofuels to be used as bioenergy under combustion processes generates some gaseous emissions (CO, CO₂, NO_x, SO_x, and other pollutants), affecting living organisms and requiring careful assessments. However, obtaining such information experimentally for data evaluation is costly and time-consuming and its in situ obtaining for regional biomasses (e.g., those from Northeast Brazil (NEB) is still a major challenge. This paper reports on the application of artificial neural networks (ANNs) for the prediction of the main air pollutants (CO, CO₂, NO, and SO₂) produced during the direct biomass combustion (N₂/O₂:80/20%) with the use of ultimate analysis (carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen). 116 worldwide biomasses were used as input data, which is a relevant alternative to overcome the lack of experimental resources in NEB and obtain such information. Cross-validation was conducted with k-fold to optimize the ANNs and performance was analyzed with the use of statistical errors for accuracy assessments. The results showed an acceptable statistical performance for all architectures of ANNs, with 0.001–12.41% MAPE, 0.001–5.82 mg Nm⁻³ MAE, and 0.03–52.30 mg Nm⁻³ RMSE, highlighting the high precision of the emissions studied. On average, the differences between predicted and real values for CO, CO₂, NO, and SO₂ emissions from NEB biomasses were approximately 0.01%, 10⁻⁶%, 0.14%, and 0.05%, respectively. Pearson coefficient provided consistent results of concentration of the ultimate analysis in relation to the emissions studied and effectiveness of the test set in the developed models. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Comparison study on mechanical properties single step and three step artificial aging on duralium

Duralium is kind of non-ferro alloy that used widely in industrial. That caused its properties such as mild, high ductility, and resistance from corrosion. This study aimed to know mechanical properties of duralium on single step and three step articial aging process. mechanical properties that discussed in this study focused on toughness value, tensile strength, and microstructure of duralium. Toughness value of single step artificial aging was 0.082 joule/mm2, and toughness value of three step artificial aging was 0,0721 joule/mm2. Duralium tensile strength of single step artificial aging was 32.36 kgf/mm^2, and duralium tensile strength of three step artificial aging was 32,70 kgf/mm^2. Based on microstructure photo of duralium of single step artificial aging showed that precipitate (θ) was not spreading evenly indicated by black spot which increasing the toughness of material. While microstructure photo of duralium that treated by three step artificial aging showed that it had more precipitate (θ) spread evenly compared with duralium that treated by single step artificial aging.

Reality there are many different models in the Dual System of 3 and 4 years vocational high school, both the implementation time, placement and competence. This research aims to look at the effectiveness of the education system in progam vocational high school 3 years and 4 years. Data obtained from the survey of teachers, students and instructors to 3 and 4 years vocational high school. Question form is used to obtain information about the implementation dual system of the education in terms of a reaction, learning, behavior, and results variable. The data obtained were analyzed using factor analysis with software SPSS 20. The results of the analysis of the data suggests that aspects of the reaction, learning, behavior, and results in the implementation of the dual system education in SMK 4 years is effective. Meanwhile, the reactions and results in the implementation of a dual system of education in SMK 3 years of ineffective, only learning and behavioral aspects of an effective.

Vocational High School (SMK) is a form of vocational education unit which has the task to equip students with adequate professional skills to be able to penetrate the job opportunities, even now many schools that educate students with independence for the self-employed. The purpose of this research is to test the significance of: (a) a direct relationship between the production units as edupreneurship with entrepreneurship mindset vocational students, (b). direct relationship between Dudi and vocational cooperation with entrepreneurship mindset vocational students. The research design uses a correlational study. This study using analysis of SEM (Structural Equation Model) to see the strength of the relationship between variables. Its population is SMKN East Java, the field of technology and engineering expertise contained expertise mechanical engineering program which amounted to 51 schools in 38 districts / cities. Sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Respondents who researched many as 349 students. The results of this study are: (a) there is a significant direct relationship between the production units as edupreneurship with entrepreneurship mindset vocational students as indicated by loading factor of 0.07, the students are accustomed to working on the workpiece on the activities of the production unit is ripe ability to can open armed entrepreneurship after graduation of competence that has ever experienced, (b) there is a significant direct relationship between Dudi and vocational cooperation with vocational students entrepreneurship mindset which is indicated by the loading factor of 0.59 it is shown that more schools cooperate with Dudi then a lot of cooperation in the manufacture of components, training and employment opportunities are also obtained.
