The main contributions of digitalisation to servitisation

Digital servitisation has aroused the interest of many researchers and managers. IoT, big data, and cloud computing are the most prominent technologies. This study sought to investigate the impact of other digital technologies (DTechs) on servitisation. This research is based on an exploratory-qualitative approach covering 146 published articles selected from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. We grouped the digital technologies that impacted servitisation positively. Our results were synthesised into four categories. These procedures allowed for building a framework that shows the contribution potential of digitisation as a success factor of servitisation, as well as competitive opportunities based on the combination of DTs. Digitisation is confirmed as the main driver for the development of digital-servitisation based business models. Our results aim to contribute to the industry in terms of establishing innovation strategies for business models. Copyright © 2025 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The general aim of the research was to analyse the scientific production on the circular economy of water in the Web of Science database. The systematic and integrative review used the Methodi Ordinatio, which made it possible to identify the most relevant articles on the circular economy of water. The main findings were the identification of 38 articles on the circular economy of water, in which the years 2018 and 2020 were the years with the most publications. The contexts already studied demonstrated that the circular economy is related to assessing the life cycle, the techniques related to the reuse and recovery of water, education models and strategic issues. The areas surveyed were mainly associated with the public area, tourism, entrepreneurship and manufacturing. It is essential to emphasise the importance of research related to water since the concern with this resource has been observed. The discussions are far from being exhausted;therefore, a proposal for a future agenda has been presented, indicating the direction for future research about the theme. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Truck Scheduling: A Case Study in the Automotive Sector

Logistic companies face several problems in their services, leading to increased time and costs in their operations. These issues could be mitigated if decision-making were based on models that consider resource optimization and respect process constraints. An example of this problem is the queues generated by trucks at docks for loading and unloading materials in the automotive sector. Therefore, this work studies truck scheduling with the inclusion of forbidden time windows for breaks. The aim is to propose a mathematical model in order to minimize the time spent by drivers within companies and to present exact and approximate solutions with the use of Operational Research techniques and algorithms. Methods and algorithms that adapt to this type of problem were identified. Then, the mathematical model was developed, computationally implemented in the LINGO and Gurobi software, and validated according to the case study conditions. A metaheuristic based on the Simulated Annealing algorithm was implemented in Visual Basic for Applications language, and used as a form of approximate resolution for problems larger than the ones solved optimally. Computational experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of the model and metaheuristic proposed. The GAP between the metaheuristic solution and the optimal solution is less than 4% for all problems tested. For larger problems, with more than 10 trucks and 5 docks, Gurobi optimization software is not able to find the optimal solution in a feasible time. However, the metaheuristic is able to find good solutions for bigger problems in a reasonable time. Therefore, results proved the performance of the mathematical model, indicating that truck scheduling is an important tool for automotive companies, as it can help to improve efficiency and productivity. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited 2024.

The present work focuses on a case study applying a maintenance management system model based on the degree of maturity in a thermoplastic industry that operates in the Industrial Pole of Manaus, in the state of amazonas (Brazil). The system must support the decisions of the organization and promote progress in the company's continuous improvement system. The study was based on the answers to a questionnaire submitted to the maintenance, production and process engineering sectors. Internal perception was compared with external perception, in order to perform an analysis of the field of view of the three sectors on the current position of the maintenance sector in relation to the maturity model used for this analysis. From the application of the model, it was possible to develop a strategic action plan, based on lean practices, so that the maintenance areas advance towards the higher levels of the maturity scale, aiming to reach and maintain performance levels recognized as excellence. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. Tropical mountain peatlands in Brazil’s Southern Espinhaço Range are vital ecosystems,acting as carbon reservoirs,hydrological buffers,and biodiversity hotspots while sustaining traditional livelihoods and preserving paleoenvironmental *** their importance,peatlands outside protected areas face degradation by grazing and fires,threatening their ability to regulate ecosystem processes sensitive to temperature,such as greenhouse gas emissions,water cycling,biological activity,and organic matter *** 2016,we have monitored peat temperatures in two contrasting peatlands–one preserved(within a protected area)and one disturbed(outside the protected area)–to understand how anthropogenic disturbances and climate variability impact these fragile *** patterns dominated temperature variation,accounting for 60% of air and 81%–92% of peatland temperature ***,average temperatures and amplitudes differed between peatlands and *** variability revealed stronger trends in the disturbed peatland,where a 1℃ increase in air temperature caused the trend to increase 0.70℃–0.87℃ on average at depths of 0.85 m–0.92 *** contrast,the preserved peatland showed smaller increases(0.20℃–0.24℃)at comparable depths(1.06 m–1.24 m),suggesting a greater *** variation in the monitored peatlands was majorly driven by seasonal patterns,as revealed by time series decomposition and sinewave *** temperature and amplitude varied between the two peatlands and among sampling sites,reflecting differences in environmental conditions and measurement *** variability also exhibited distinct effects between peatlands and monitoring *** time series trend component showed more pronounced fluctuations at shallower depths and in the disturbed *** every 1℃ increase in the trend component of the air temperature,the trend component of the peatland time series increased by 0.70℃ and 0.87℃on averag

The traditional form of production is called linear economy, which consists of extracting, transforming, producing, consuming and discarding, and is threatened by a series of factors. Among them, we can list the increase in the world population, which went from 3.3 billion people in 1965 to 7.79 billion in 2020, which will consequently lead to an increase in the consumer class. One of the philosophies for meeting this challenge is the Circular Economy (CE), which provides the economic system with an alternative flow model. CE is seen as a new form of sustainability and has gained popularity in the scarcity of resources, the circulation of materials and the facilitation of the reuse and recycling paradigm. Some countries, concerned about the impact of the linear economy on the environment, have proposed specific laws that address the shift from the traditional mode of production to a circular approach. Germany and Japan were pioneers in promoting CE in concrete policies. Followed by China in 2008. Given this scenario, this study aimed to raise which public policies were objects of study in the period 2017 to 2021 and which tools were used to analyze the policies. A systematic review of the literature was carried out, with articles searched in the ScienceDirect and WoS databases, using the descriptors: Circular Economy and Policies. The Sample consisted of 29 articles. The study identified an increase in initiatives to seek circularity through the formulation of public policies. Many countries are demanding more sustainable production processes, with an emphasis on energy savings and fewer carbon emissions. For this, a waste treatment policy is an initial step to seek greater degrees of circularity. The most used tool to study these policies was Framework 9R. Because with it you have an idea of what initial stage the country is in and what stage can be pursued in the future. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

The context of smart cities has been increasingly recurrent in world literature. The present study aims to analyze the contributions of leadership, governance, and people to the development of smart cities. To achieve this objective, the methodology Methodi Ordinatio was used, and data was collected from Scopus, Science Direct, and Web of Science using the following keywords combinations: smart cities, smart governance, smart leadership, and smart people. The results of the analysis reveal the importance of people acting with intelligent practices, as well as the need to encourage leadership and governance strategies. If there is a link between these three pillars, with the intention of sustainable development aimed at the common good, the chances of institutionalizing smart cities are greater. The study's conclusions point to the need for interconnection between individuals, leaders, and governments for a city to develop intelligently, therefore, having identified the absence of a concept that encompasses the three dimensions, this article contributes to an expanded conceptualization of smart cities.

Exploring variations in quality parameters of Theobroma cacao *** from Eastern amazonia

The cocoa tree (Theobroma cacao L.) is a native crop of the tropical forests of Central America and the amazon. It plays an important role in the economy of producing regions;however, the infrastructure remains incipient, leading to inadequate processing practices and affecting the quality of the cocoa beans. Therefore, this research aimed to evaluate the quality of 55 samples of amazonian cocoa beans produced in five regions of state of Pará (Lower Tocantins River, Northeast, West, Southeast, and Trans-amazon) through physical and physicochemical evaluations (proteins, lipids, moisture, ash, pH, acidity, and water activity), and a questionnaire with producers about fermentation and drying practices. This was followed by physical, physicochemical, antioxidant capacity, quantification of total polyphenols, and bioactive compound evaluations. According to the physical evaluation, the samples met the acceptable commercial standard, but the cut test results showed a lack of standardization in the pre-processing of cocoa beans according to the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO). Among the physicochemical parameters, moisture was within the limit tolerated by legislation, and only lipids showed significant differences. Regarding antioxidant capacity, total polyphenols, and bioactive compounds, only the bioactive compounds showed significant differences, with the Lower Tocantins River region exhibiting higher values for all studied compounds. Inadequate processing practices, such as poor fermentation and drying, may lead to quality deficiencies in cocoa beans. Therefore, this study emphasizes the need for characterization of commercial cocoa beans, as well as standardization in the pre-processing of these beans. It also highlights potential variations in the quality of the beans among producing regions, owing to the vast territorial expanse of Pará, diverse cultivation conditions, variety of cocoa trees, and different methods of cocoa bean pre-processing. © 2024 The A
