An efficient transport network needs an infrastructure that would be able to provide an optimization in cargo transport, bringing agility and speed. With respect to this, waterways can be considering a solution due to its energy efficiency, greater productivity in relation to the cargo volumes, and low cost per ton. The purpose of this study is compare Brazilian waterways with the American waterways about costs and infrastructure available. To that end we conducted a bibliographical study to collect data and make feasible the comparisons between countries. The results showed that in Brazil, the one cargo tonne transported by one thousand kilometers, cost three times more that in the United States.

The Brazilian grain production for 2014/15 was estimated at 200.682 million tons, which corresponds to 15.08% of world production. The largest Brazilian producer is the state of Mato Grosso, which produces about 29.3% of soybeans in Brazil. The objective of this study was to develop and analyze a computerized decision model to determine the best cargo transportation route. For this reason, a model was created using Fuzzy Logic on MATLAB®R2015b software. The input values were: US$3.25 / ton / 100km for cost, 27.7 hours for time and 94.2% for reliability, and pointed preferably the port of Itaqui with priority 5.94, to Miritituba priority 5.41, the third choice would be Santos Priority 4.82 and finally the Paranaguá destination with priority 4.02. It could be concluded that it is possible to make the decision to which harbor to export through the use of technical criteria, after testing the model.

Social urban sensing is a new paradigm which exploits human-carried or vehicle-mounted sensors to ubiquitously collect data for large-scale urban sensing. A challenge of such scenario is how to transmit sensed data in situations where the networking infrastructure is intermittent or unavailable. In this context, this paper outlines our researches of a novel engine that uses Opportunistic Networks paradigm to underlie the data transmission of social urban sensing applications. It applies Situation awareness, Fuzzy logic and Machine Learning approaches to perform routing and decision-making process. As we know, this is the first paper to use such approaches in Smart Cities area with focus on social sensing application. As well as being original, the results from our simulations signals the way that further research can be carried out in this area.

The energy transition and reactivation of mature oil fields may even being seem as bipolar topics, within the theme of energy. However, regarding to the sustainability, these topics can be analyzed in parallel to the approach to the inherent risks involved in the supply chain, associated with energy transition. This study talks about the energy transition, connecting the risks associated with its implementation (focusing on supply chain) and discusses how adversely the promotion and reactivation of inactive areas are affecting or contributing to advances in sustainability discussions. Studies out of international agencies reports of energy and sustainability were made, also from organizational reports applied to the energy transition, and scenery analysis of the reactivation of producing oil fields, considered economically marginal.

In the transformation from traditional to smart cities, there is an increasing trend around the world towards intelligent dynamic infrastructures that provide citizens with new services that can improve their quality of life and fulfill the criteria of energy efficiency and sustainability. In the light of this, an important challenge is how to enable citizens and cities to promote the sensing of data with regard to a number of different factors. This paper outlines the early stages of our research which is concerned with an ubiquitous service-oriented architecture for urban sensing called UrboSenti. The proposed approach differs from other sensing plat-forms since it provides a set of services to collect data from several sources and assists in the development of new sensing applications. In addition, our model encompasses all the sensing activities, ranging from the collection of data to the generation of reports about events in the city. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2015.

DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON SAGITTAL LUMBAR SPINE CHANGES IN STUDENTS OF THE federal EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM OF FLORIANÓPOLIS

UNLABELLED:The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of sagittal lumbar spine postural abnormalities and associated factors among students in the federal educational system in Florianópolis. METHODS:288 adolescents (156 males and 132 females), aged from 15 to 18 years, who were students in the federal educational system in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, were evaluated. To gather data, photogrammetry was used following a specific protocol for postural assessment, and a questionnaire was used to identify the prevalence and frequency of pain, and the activities that triggered the problem. In the data analysis, descriptive statistics, Student's t-test for independent samples, chi-square test and Poisson's regression were used, with the significance level set at p<0.05 for all the tests. RESULTS:The prevalence of low back pain was 49.3%, with weekly frequency in 43.1% of the sample. The prevalence of deviation was 53.8%, and 90.9% corresponded to rectification of lumbar curvature, and this affected males more frequently. A significant difference in lumbar angle was found between the sexes; higher prevalence ratios of postural deviations were found in the male group. CONCLUSIONS:The prevalences of low back pain and lumbar postural deviation were high, but the relationship between these variables did not present significance. The main causes of the lumbar pain were sports practice or vigorous activities and remaining in a seated position for extended periods of time.

The use of Lean Construction (LC) practices has gradually spread in the construction industry. Accordingly, mechanisms are necessary to evaluate their use so as to facilitate identifying strengths and weaknesses in the LC implementation process. This paper presents a protocol for assessing the use of LC practices, which has distinctive characteristics, such as: (a) assigning weighting factors to each practice, according to their degree of importance as attributed by the perceptions of seven experts;(b) establishing explicit conceptual links between each practice and lean principles, (c) selecting practices to be included in the protocol based on a systematic review of the LC literature;and (d) the use of multiple sources of evidence to carry out the assessment, which increases the credibility of the results. The protocol comprises 103 LC practices, distributed over 15 categories. This paper reports the application of the protocol in a residential building project, which allowed identifying its strengths and weaknesses.

The predicted food shortages have caused the agribusiness to become proeminent in the world scenario. Nowadays those developing countries have shown that agribusiness, driven by the continually-increasing world crave for consumption, is the great business opportunity for continued growth and sure returns. The Brazilian soybean production is spread among various of its States, especially Bahia, Paraná, Mato Grosso e Mato Grosso do Sul. There is, however, much to be done, since the infrastructure for actually selling this produce is sorely lacking, due to problems such as scarcity of roads, lack of transportation alternatives, and of facilities and equipment to provide correct storage for this produce. So, this paper proposes an evaluation of the impact of storage strategy in the competitiveness of soybean-complex in the market. These actions allow a increase soy value in the market. The result was demonstrated by a case study in a soybean farmer, realize that considering a storage strategy, farmer has been grown his profitability in 42%.

The purpose of this study is to propose a sustainable business development concept. For such purpose a research was developed of the literature on the several discussions that are focused on the approaches. It sets off from an approach exposed by Jabareen (2008) that relates the existence of seven different concepts. Despite the effort of that author be considered consistent in the sense of establishing a new "conceptual framework" for sustainable development, it is assessed that there are many "lacks" for the concept to be rendered in a univocal manner by the business organizations. Such impossibility in handling the issue implies in perpetuating distortions that result in a situation that is considered to be critical: the inconsistent use of the concept. In this sense, this paper seeks to develop a conceptualization from approaches that, in a strict sense, lean towards divergence. Thus, this paper proposes to assess the converging and diverging points and develop a synthesis that could be used by the production systems.
