The presence of heavy metal on agricultural soils can be caused not only natural factors but also due to human intervention. Differences in management and lack of understanding of farmers in the production input of fertilizers and pesticides ensued in land ravaged. Periodic testing of paddy fields is necessary to minimize the contaminants from being absorbed by plants that will have an impact on health decline. The purpose of the assessment was to identify the heavy metal content in the terraced rice field in Sruwen Village, Tengaran District, Semarang Regency. Survey was conducted in February 2017. Sampling on terraced rice fields of different heights consisted of upper, middle, and upper down. Taken as many as eight single points and composed at a depth of 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm. The identification results showed that heavy metal content of Pb, Cd, and Cu were present at all altitudes. Heavy Metals Pb and Cd at a depth of 0-20 cm were higher from 20-40 cm in the upper and lower rice fields but lower in the middle rice field. Cu heavy metal at a depth of 0-20 cm was higher than 20-40 cm in all altitude land. The heavy metal content of Pb, Cd, and Cu was still below the heavy metal standard set by the European Union and India. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

For several decades now, the emergence and production of high-quality bulk rare-earth-based superconductors, particularly YBa₂Cu₃O_7-δ (YBCO/Y-123), have been noteworthy advancements with potential implications in various fields. This unique research investigated the potential of using chicken eggshells as a source of calcium compounds (CaO, CaCO₃ and Ca(OH)₂) for the synthesis of YBCO. The green approach synthesis of YBCO added with Ca-compounds (0.0100 wt% ≤ x ≤ 0.6000 wt%) was conducted in a systematic manner via thermal treatment method. The crystal structure, surface morphology, and chemical composition of the specimens were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX). The results showed the formation of orthorhombic Y-123 phase, Pmmm space group with the high-intensity peaks of Y-123. The addition of Ca-compounds proposed a different trend of grain degradations in the YBCO matrix system with the appearance of Ca-compounds' impurity phases. The superconducting properties such as electrical resistivity analyzed using electrical resistance measurement. Surprisingly, the superconducting parameters improved after Ca-compounds were added into the YBCO system. The hole concentration, p reached the highest value among all the specimens with the lowest superconducting transition width, ∼ΔT_c = 3.805 K (T_c-onset = 93.223 K and T_{c(R = 0)} = 89.418 K) for the lowest concentration of Ca-compounds i.e., 0.0375 wt%. This great finding targeted the green approach impurity materials into YBCO system that can usefully enhance the superconducting properties at high temperature which covers the idea of addition with deficient concentration Ca-compounds. © 2025

The increasing of energy supply trend in Indonesia seems to be a serious problem in the implementation of sustainable development. This study case research aimed to determine the potential of energy efficiency in school environment. The subject of this research was SMA N 1 Ambarawa, located on Semarang Regency of Central Java, Indonesia. The data collection was done by used documentation, observation and interview method. The results showed that the average of electrical energy consumption in this school reached 11022.008 kWh/month, which resulted in the emergence of secondary emissions of CO2 by 9644.257 kg CO2/month. Overall, the consumption of electrical energy in this school was very efficient, with an Intensity of Energy Consumption (IEC) average 1.7957 kWh/m2/month. In this case, the implementation of short-term no cost, long-term no cost, middle-cost, short-term high cost and long-term high-cost recommendation could save electricity energy sequent by 3.159%;7.536%;9.499%;35.278%-36.626%;and 42.084%. In conclusion, the school environment had a big potential of energy efficiency that could reduce the energy consumption and CO2 gas emissions. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

Mining in the world consists of modern and traditional mining. Various studies have discussed how field workers were precarious at being exposed to Covid-19 in modern mining. Many studies discuss ways of modern mines overcoming Covid-19, but discussion of research related to the impacts of Covid-19 on traditional mining has not been carried out. This study addressed the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on traditional oil mining in Wonocolo, Bojonegoro Regency. This work is a descriptive study using observation and in-depth interviews and reviewing secondary data related to conventional mining activities. The results showed that the Covid-19 pandemic has an indirect effect on traditional oil mining activities in Wonocolo. The pandemic caused a decrease in demand, a drop in selling prices, lower production, and temporary closure of wells in Wonocolo traditional mining. In contrast, Covid-19 did not directly affect miners' activities since the miners believed that Covid-19 could not infect them due to the very extreme condition in the mining area that the Coronavirus would not survive.

A research that analyzed the relationship between biogas production as renewable energy and performance of waste water treatment in tofu small industry using AnSBR reactor has been conducted. This research used system operation method in batches in to get a description of how the biogas production system works as it was operated in the batch mode, which is applied in tofu industry. An instrument capable of operation in batch mode using AnSBR reactor was designed as it does not require sludge re-circulation. An AnSBR reactor includes five stages of;filling, reaction, settling, decanting, and stabilization (idling state). The research was run for 24 days using biogas collected in a tank. Biogas was measured for each HRT starting on the second day HRT to 24th day HRT. Biogas characteristics were monitored on day 16th for contents of CH4, CO2 and heat value. Results show that CH4 content in the biogas amounts to 78.26 %, while CO2 comprises 20.16 %. Meanwhile, the heat value, which depends on acid methane and CO2 content, is 4,246.55 kkal/kg. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2018.

The purpose of this study is to design a concept of energy management control system (EMCS) at the UNSADA campus, Jakarta, Indonesia by utilizing the results of the previous walkthrough audit. EMCS is an important first step by involving all parties on campus to be concerned the sustainable energy savings. The energy efficiency program utilizes the campus as an energy laboratory to identify, recommend, implement and evaluate the energy consumption, so that the expected energy efficiency targeted by the top managements can be achieved. This program is motivated by several reasons, such as;to support government policies in reducing dependence on fossil energy by implementing energy conservation programs;as a reflection of compliance with the implementation of educational service buildings (including the campus in Jakarta);a vision as the efficient campus in energy consumption that has been determined by the campus management. To achieve these goals, there are four stages to be done;the preparation, the conducting audit, the audit analysis, and the recommendation for implementation. The results provide an overview of the opportunities to save the energy consumption and to develop EMCS by involving all stack-holders on campus. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The Kapuas Kecil River is strongly influenced by tidal, in the dry season the intrusion of surface water is often a problem for the WTP because it causes the change of raw water quality to be processed. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of sea tides on water quality of the Kapuas Kecil River. The study was conducted in Kapuas River downstream along ± 30 km from the upper boundary to the estuary. Water sampling is carried out during the dry and rainy season, when the tidal conditions at 7 (seven) locations of the monitoring station. Descriptive analysis methods and regression-correlation statistics are used to determine the effect of tides on water quality in Kapuas River downstream. In general, the water quality of the Kapuas Kecil River has exceeded the criteria of first class water quality, ie water that can be used for drinking water. The status of water quality of the Kapuas Kecil River based on the pollution index calculation shows the condition of the river is "mild to medium pollutants". The result of multiple linear regression analysis got the value of coefficient of determination (adjusted R square) = 0,760, which in whole show that independent variable (tidal and distance) influence to dependent variable (value of TDS) equal to 76%. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

River Bian in Merauke Regency has been utilized by local people in Papua (the Marind) who live along the river for fulfilling their daily needs, such as shower, cloth and dish washing, and even defecation, waste disposal, including domestic waste, as well as for ceremonial activities related to the locally traditional culture. Change in land use for other necessities and domestic activities of the local people have mounted pressures on the status of the River Bian, thus decreasing the quality of the river. This study had objectives to find out and to analyze river water quality and water quality status of the River Bian, and its compliance with water quality standards for ideal use. The study determined sample point by a purposive sampling method, taking the water samples with a grab method. The analysis of the water quality was performed by standard and pollution index methods. The study revealed that the water quality of River Bian, concerning BOD, at the station 3 had exceeded quality threshold. COD parameter for all stations had exceeded the quality threshold for class III. At three stations, there was a decreasing value due to increasing PI, as found at the stations 1, 2, and 3. In other words, River Bian had been lightly contaminated. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

Changes that occur in housing development will change the zone that should be green open space its function to become a dense residential area. The purpose of this research is to find out how the physical condition of the toilet facilities sanitation development program for the community by the Bandung City government, such as what is the domestic waste disposal system residents, as well as to conclude how much community involvement in protecting the watersheds around the facility is also a communal toilet facility. The parameters used are the physical condition of the toilet, the existence of a septic tank, the use of a watershed, and the level of concern of the community using communal toilet facilities. This research is expected to be an evaluation material for the construction of community sanitation facilities in densely populated areas. In densely populated cities need public toilets. However, due to the lack of community participation, the condition of the facilities became damaged, dirty, and not maintained. The facility has become unsuitable for sanitation; squad latrine models are more widely used. The septic tank, which is supposed to be a waste collection facility, turns out that most domestic waste is discharged into the river through pipes. This is very unhealthy, causing pollution in watersheds. To make a government policy made that disposing of household waste from public toilets with pipes is prohibited because it causes the effects of river basin pollution, posing public health risks.

Indonesia's maritime continent is one of the most vulnerable regions regarding to climate change impacts. One of the vulnerable areas affected are the urban areas, because they are home to almost half of Indonesia's population where they live and earn a living, so that environmental management efforts need to be done. To support such efforts, climate change analysis is required. The analysis was carried out in several big cities in Indonesia. The method used in the research was trend analysis of temperature, rainfall, shifts in rainfall patterns, and extreme climatic trend. The data of rainfall and temperature were obtained from Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The result shows that the air temperature and rainfall have a positive trend, except in Semarang City which having a negative rainfall trend. The result also shows heavy rainfall trends. These indicate that climate is changing in these three cities. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.
