Starch-Free Sugar Palm Trunk (Arenga pinnata) can be utilized to produce bioethanol because of their high lignocellulosic contents. Production of bioethanol from lignocellulosic materials consist of pre-treatment, saccharification and fermentation processes. In this work, conversion of starch-free sugar palm trunk (Arenga pinnata) to fermentable sugar and bioethanol was carried out through g pretreatment, saccharification and fermentation processes. The pretreatment was carried out by addition of 1% (v/v) HNO3 and NH4OH for 30 min and 60 min, respectively. The saccharification was carried out at enzyme celullase loadings of 10 and 20 FPU/g and substrate loadings of 10 and 20 g for NH4OH pretreated samples. Fermentation was carried out using two methods i.e. separated hydrolysis and fermentation (SHF) and simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) techniques. The results showed that pretreatment using NH4OH was more effective than HNO3 for 60 minutes. IFurthermore, the results also presented the reduction of the lignin content of 9.44% and the increase of cellulose content to 18.56% for 1% (v/v) NH4OH 60 min of pretreatment. The increase of enzyme cellulase (20 FPU/g substrate) and substrate loading (20 g) could produce more reducing sugar (17.423 g/L and 19.233 g/L) than that at 10 FPU/g substrate and 10 g substrate (11.423 g/L and 17.423 g/L), respectively. The comparison of SHF and SSF showed that SHF process yielded higher ethanol (8.11 g/L) as compared to SSF (3.95 g/L) and nontreatment process (0.507 g/L) for 72 h.. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2018.

This paper write about UNP Extinc Metric. It is new approach and methods how to calculate extinc condition for wild animals especially bilih fish from Lake Singkarak. We introduce new criteria and ombine to seven categories from IUCN. For bilih fish we can calculate number extinc 49 and the meaning is endangered We conclude after that result we can conserve bilih fsh soon as soon for our life in biosfer.

The influence of micro plastic to Chlorella growth in difference aquatic systems

Plastic waste is harmful to human health and became climacteric problem for our environment. In year 2010, 275 million metric tons (MT) of plastic waste was emerge in 192 coastal countries. Micro plastic with size range around 1-5mm also affecting microorganism such as microalgae, Chlorella Pyrenoidosa which one of many species of microalgae is no exception. This microalga commonly used for foodstuff as the source of protein and lipid, also can be used as materials to make biodiesel since it also rich with lipid and can be processed with either esterification, trans-esterification or both. 500mg micro plastic of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is added in 25ml Chlorella Pyrenoidosa on peak of its growth. Additional amount of diluted nutrients in 250ml freshwater and brackish also being added as controls with different salinity. Since control experiment also being made without the presence of PET micro plastic, the growth rate shown in Chlorella Pyrenoidosa which being add with PET micro plastic is more than the growth rate Chlorella Pyrenoidosa without micro plastic. This difference could be due utilization of micro plastic as carbon source by Chlorella Pyrenoidosa.

The waste generation of the plastic packaging industry for the cosmetic product is consisting of the hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The non-hazardous waste of cosmetic product includes product reject, plastic bags, cardboard, and paper. The content of hazardous waste of the cosmetic product is the part such as chemical packaging drum, paint sludge, and wastewater treatment sludge. On the other hand, there is a chance of the waste management that can be started from the segregation of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste, recycling of non-hazardous waste and utilization of waste into products by third parties. That is because the dangerous waste that is carried out according to the waste regulation can be used as a useful product to provide economic and environmental benefits. The research examines various opportunities to use waste as raw material and also to be processed into products. The study steps consist of identification, assessment, techno-economic analysis, and implementation approaches. The study results show that the hazardous solid waste can be used as fuel, filling materials for paving blocks, and ceramic raw materials. The utilization as raw material for paving blocks shows the most significant opportunity for economic and has environmental benefits.

Pretreatment of Herbal, Tofu and Fertilizer Waste Using UV/Ozon Technique and Its Utilization for Spirulina sp Cultivation

The herbal, tofu and fertilizer industries contribute considerable waste to the environment. The waste contains COD and organic substances which should be reduced before it is discharged to the environmental body. One of methods is by using Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) degradation method. The process of AOPs in this study used a combination of UV irradiation and ozone to produce hydroxyl radicals. This study was aimed to investigate the degradation of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) by using AOP techniques and to evaluate the treated waste for microalgae growth. This research consists of two steps: (1) the initial COD degradation using UV-Ozon. (2) utilization of the treated waste for microalgae cultivation by combining a mixed nutrient of waste and 10 mg/L TSP, 10 mg/L Urea, 80mg/L NaHCO3. The results showed that the COD degraded by UV/Ozone follows the first order equation by k value of 0.082/day, 0.223/day and 0.436/day for tofu, herbal and fertilizer waste respectively. The growth rate of Spirulina cultivated in waste medium was in comparable with the one cultivated in control medium.

Basic Framework of Regional Model for Disaster Waste Estimation and Distribution by Using Spatial Approach in Central Java-Indonesia

Disaster are becoming more frequent around the world and more intense in urban areas. Central Java is the province with the largest number of disasters in Indonesia. Disaster create amount of disaster waste and sometime very huge, many times comparing to daily municipal waste generation. Government and local citizen sometimes are unable to handling disaster waste. Since effective implementation of disaster waste management (DWM) will lead quick and better recovery of living and avoid more environmental risk, high level regional government such as provincial should help. To make effective support, it is important that provincial government develop a model to monitor disaster waste generation in each regency and cities. This study aims to develop basic framework of regional model for disaster waste estimation and distribution in provincial level. This study used Central Java Province as a case study. To estimate disaster waste in Central Java, this study developed an index system as a basic model. It is about basic comparison of disaster waste generation in all central java regencies or cities. Disaster waste is associated with total disaster events. This study utilized GIS tools to express model and system. This study developed of regional model disaster waste estimation in Central Java, divided by 3 sub decades. Study result shown that in first decade 1990-1999 the highest index of disaster waste estimation is Brebes Regency. Second decade 2000-2009 the highest index of disaster waste estimation is Semarang Regency and the third decade 2010-2018 the highest index of disaster waste estimation in Cilacap Regency.

Community-based solid waste management planning in the Administrative Village of Surau Gadang, Padang City

The community-based solid waste management system in Administrative Village of Surau Gadang is planned based on SNI-20-3242-2008, with a design period of 8 years (2011-2018). The service level is planned to reach 100%. The total solid waste generation is 64.18 m3/d (organic 60.81 m3/d, inorganic is 0.75 m3/d, while other waste is 2.61 m3/d). The sorting process is according to the type of waste. Residential waste collection uses motorized trash tricycles to TPST (integrated waste treatment plant) and non-residential uses pickup cars to TPS (temporary disposal site). Processing carried out at the source is composting the Takakura method, while in TPST is composting the Bokhasi method, sorting other waste for sale, recycling and making handicrafts. The residue from the remaining processing which was disposed to TPS was 18.43%. The institution formed is a representative of all RW (citizens association). Regulation based on Law No.18 of 2008. The investment in making TPST and its supplementary facilities for eight years is Rp.1,322,000,000, with operational and maintenance costs of Rp.26,678,067/month. The profit obtained is Rp.102,117,284 / month. Community participation can be seen from involvement in technical and non-technical aspects.

Enhancing the yield and quality of Kemiri Sunan crude oil by preliminary extraction of feedstock

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel produced by chemical reaction between vegetable oil or animal fat with alcohol and catalyst. The preliminary treatment in extraction of biodiesel feedstock is an important process to obtain maximum yield of crude oil. This study aims to find optimal preliminary treatment on extraction of Kemiri Sunan seed in order to produce crude oil with maximum yield and quality. The research investigated the effects of screw press machine rotation and duration of steaming process. Three levels of duration of steaming used were 30, 60 and 90 minutes. Observations of crude oil yield, moisture content, free fatty acid content, kinematic viscosity, density and color were done. The result suggested that the rotation of screw press machine affected the crude oil yield. The duration of steaming process affected the oil yield, free fatty acid content, kinematic viscosity, density and color. The best oil yield result of 70.3% was obtained from the combination of heating duration of 60' and screw rotation of 25 RPM.

Supply of sustainable clean water is an activity that must be carried out towards smart cities. Nevertheless, the availability of water is decreasing both in quality and quantity. Wastewater including domestic wastewater is a potential source that can be reused as clean water supply dealing with water scarcity. This is due to domestic wastewater is produced continuously in large amount. In addition, reuse can reduce the total cost of handling wastewater. One modern technology that can be used for domestic wastewater treatment is membrane technology. Characteristics, various types, advantages, disadvantages, and challenges of membrane technology for domestic wastewater were discussed. This paper presents a review of domestic wastewater reuse by using membrane technology. More specifically this paper discusses domestic wastewater.
