This study investigates the effectiveness of the Cu-doped Bi2O3 method for removing antibiotics. Cu at varying concentrations of 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8% was used to synthesize Bi2O3 material successfully. The optimal results were obtained by adding 4% Cu to the Bi2O3 matrix. Cu-doped Bi2O3 was characterized by an energy band gap of 2.32 eV, a crystal size of 37.04 nm, and α-Bi2O3 and Rouaite phases. Material containing Cu-doped Bi2O3 was used to degrade antibiotics such as amoxicillin (AMX), ciprofloxacin (CIP), and tetracycline (TC). The various removal techniques investigated include adsorption, photolysis, and photocatalysis. The photocatalytic procedure yielded the highest results in terms of degradation efficiency. The removal efficiency of each antibiotic using the photocatalytic method varies, with AMX at 52.06%, CIP at 61.72%, and TC at 69.44%. Cu-doped Bi2O3 degraded TC-type antibiotics more rapidly, with a reaction rate constant of 0.0065 minutes-1, according to the results of the reaction rate constants. The high removal efficiency and rapid reaction rate indicate that Cu-doped Bi2O3 is an effective antibiotic removal agent, especially for tetracycline-type antibiotics. © 2023, The Authors. The Fered-Fenton process is one of the proposed options across the set of electrochemical oxidation processes. The primacy of this process is in-situ production of oxidation factors such as the hydroxyl radical (OH•). In this study, the Fered-Fenton process was adopted for the degradation of Direct Blue 15 (DB15) in wastewater by variating operational factors such as initial pH, applied current, and H2O2 and Fe2+ concentrations. The efficiency of color removal, chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal, functional group removal, and energy consumption of the Fered-Fenton process was evaluated. According to the results of this research, color and COD was degraded up to 90% and 86%, respectively, using graphite and Ti/Pt as electrodes. The presence of C-O absorption at wave number 1129.17 cm-1 also strengthens the presence of OH groups attached to the carbon chain. The energy consumption of this treatment was 20.4 kWh/L after 120 min. Therefore, the Fered-Fenton method is environmentally friendly for dye wastewater treatment. © 2022 science Press. Coastal residents have difficulty in fulfilling the needs of clean water due to tidal water and tidal water intrusion. Meanwhile, clean water is a crucial component in carrying out activities of daily life. This initiative aims to provide an alternative solution in the form of technology to treat water polluted by saline water into clean water. This initiative used the method of electrolysis, filtration, and ozonation. Electrolysis has functions to remove salt contained and reduce levels of heavy metals while filtration functions to filter out the impurities in the form of solid particles, and ozonation takes a role to kill bacteria. Moreover, the target output of this work is the creation of a prototype by using this technology as a technology that can treat water polluted by saline water into clean water. The parameters assessed from this initiative are physical, chemical, and biological parameters of clean water. The results of the total test of dissolved solids of water before processing were 7130 ppm while it was 2490 ppm after getting treatment. The decreasing total value of dissolved solids is 65.077%, which indicates that the test was successful. The result of an electrical conductivity test of water before processing is 310 mA while after processing is 88.6 mA. The decrease in the current value of 71.419% indicates that the test was successful. The results of the turbidity test of water before processing are 0 FAU while after getting treatment is 0 FAU. The turbidity value remains 0, which indicates the test was successful. The results of the pH test of water before processing were 5.7 while the result after treatment got 6.1. The increase in pH value towards pH 7 (neutral) indicates that the test was successful. The test results of salt and heavy metals (Fe, Cu, Cl, Na, and Pb) of water before processing were 0.073 ppm, 0.07 ppm, 0.17 ppm, 0.04 ppm, and 4.24 ppm while after processing was 0 ppm, 0 ppm, 0.07 ppm, 0.03 ppm, and 1.36 ppm. REMOVAL OF ASPIRIN IN PHARMACEUTICAL WASTEWATER BY ELECTROCOAGULATION METHODS

According to several researchers reporting, it was reported that organic pollutants dissolved in water were increasing. One of these increasing pollutants is aspirin. Our study aimed to remove aspirin in pharmaceutical wastewater by electrocoagulation, using an aluminum plate (15 cm x 4 cm x 0.5 cm) as an anode and a carbon plate (15 cm x 4 cm x 0.5 cm) as a cathode. Aspirin-containing organic pollutant samples (artificial) were prepared by dissolving aspirin purchased from a pharmacy in distilled water of varying concentrations. Before and after the sample is purified by the electrocoagulation process, its character is measured. pH, color, chemical oxygen demand (COD), turbidity, density, and conductivity were measured. The differences in the character of organic pollutants (aspirin) before and after electrocoagulation were explained from various points of view, such as electrode distance, initial pH, current density, and contact time. The kinetic processes that occur are also observed and reported. Indicators of soluble aspirin pollutants, such as pH, color, turbidity, density, and conductivity, decreased significantly. Furthermore, the dissolved aspirin pollutant was associated with research variables such as electrode distance, initial pH, current density, and contact time. Electrocoagulation can be considered an alternative method to treat wastewater containing aspirin pollutants. © 2022 science Press. All rights reserved.

Currently, antibiotics waste produced by hospitals and pharmacies is increasing, increasing demand and public consumption. Tetracyclines are a popular type of antibiotic that can pollute the environment even in low concentrations. This study aimed to detect tetracyclines in an aqueous environment using C-dots/Ag. C-dots material was synthesized by microwave radiation method with the addition of Ag 0-4 %. C-dots/Ag is produced in the form of a brown-black powder that glows green. FTIR testing shows that C-dots/Ag contains various functional groups O-H, N-H, C-H, C=O, and C=C. The surface morphology of the C-dots based on SEM testing is round and rough. Ag's addition causes C-dots' surface morphology to agglomerate, shifting the C-dots' absorbance peaks towards a larger wavelength and decreasing the energy bandgap. C-dots/Ag 2% has the best optical properties based on the intensity of the resulting fluency. In general, C-dots/Ag has excellent potential to be a susceptible, selective, and effective tetracycline detection agent. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The aim of this study was to determine the dominance and species diversity of oligochaeta were studied incopper and cadmium polluted soil. This location is used for the garbage disposal of Jatibarang Landfill Semarang City residents, Central Java. Oligochaeta were collected from 5 research sites. The research method used is field experiment. Oligochaeta sampling was carried out based on a random sampling method. Oligochaeta sampling in Jatibarang Landfill was carried out at a depth of 25 cm. Analysis of oligochaeta diversity includes species diversity using the index formula Shannon-Wienner and dominance with the index formula Simpson. The species diversity (Shannon-Weiner Index) showed value of 0.191 (site 1), 0.411 (site 2), 0.539 (site 3), 0.137 (site 4), 0.443 (site 5) and the dominance calculated was 0.207 (site 1), 0.024 (site 2), 0.279 (site 3), 0.045 (site 4), 0.031 (site 5) which indicates that the diversity and the dominance were inversely related. The population density (individuals/m2) of the Oligochaeta species at 5 research sites showed variations. The total density of L. terrestris recorded was 280.66 (site 1), 59.66 (site 2), 130.33 (site 3), 136.66 (site 4), 62 (site 5), and the total density of Pheretrima sp 14 (site 1), 10 (site 2), 39 (site 3), 4.33 (site 4), 12 (site 5). Two species of Oligochaeta showed high richness whereas some were sparsely populated. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The growing disparity between the high extraction of natural resources and low use of waste as alternative mineral resources will aggravate the scarcity of natural reserves. Therefore, the current linear economy model must be converted to sustainable economic models, such as the circular economy. To achieve this transition, it is important that waste recovery strategies are implemented with a continuous search for solutions for these materials. Thus, this study investigates the waste from the processing of nepheline syenite stone, to promote its valorization as an alternative mineral resource. The classification, potentiality, quantity/viability and applicability (CPQvA) criteria are used as tools to aid decision-making for the waste valorization. The environmental, physical, chemical, morphological, and durability characteristics of nepheline syenite waste (NSW) are analyzed. The results showed evidence for the substitution of NSW for up to 100% of fine aggregates and 25% of Portland cement in civil construction. Furthermore, NSW yields recoveries of more than 90% of potassium for use in agriculture, and up to 70% of iron ore for use in steelworks. Therefore, the results indicate that NSW is viable for different applications, contributing to industrial symbiosis and a strategy for advancing the circular economy. © 2023, The Authors. The cement industry in Indonesia, heavily relies on coal, contributing significantly to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Simultaneously, Java Island generates over 23 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) annually, with limited utilization for energy recovery. This study evaluates the feasibility of substituting coal with refuse-derived fuel (RDF) from MSW in Java's cement industry, focusing on environmental, economic, and technical aspects. Scenario analyses indicate that substituting 10%, 20%, and 30% of thermal energy with RDF could divert up to 8.7 million tons of MSW from landfills annually, reducing GHG emissions by up to 2.77 million Gg CO₂-eq. These reductions align with Indonesia's environmental policies and global climate commitments under the Paris Agreement. The economic assessment demonstrates the viability of RDF, with potential annual cost savings of up to $421 million. Beyond addressing coal dependency, RDF adoption supports circular economy practices, reduces landfill reliance, and mitigates environmental pollution. However, challenges such as infrastructure gaps and regulatory barriers require attention. This study provides actionable insights to guide policy formulation, foster industry investment, and facilitate the implementation of RDF-based energy solutions. By bridging waste management and sustainable energy practices, the findings contribute to Indonesia's renewable energy goals, emphasizing the practical applications of RDF for a more sustainable future in industrial operations. © 2025 The Authors

Public perception of the fulfillment of clean water needs will depend on a number of factors, including social, economic, cultural and community habits. This research was conducted in Nekmese Village in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. This village is one of the villages that has not received good clean water services, even though this village has sufficient availability of clean water throughout the season. This study aims to examine the perception of rural communities in the provision of sustainable clean water. Data collection is done by observation and survey by interview and questionnaire. The results showed that 41% of respondents felt they were insufficient in providing clean water, while the other 59% felt they were insufficient. This fact is supported by the data on the use of clean water on average by 40 Lpcd. For the sustainability of clean water supply, the results of the study show positive perceptions from the community, but contrary to wasteful measures in water use, maintenance of water sources and participation in water supply in his village. This could be due to the low level of public education, and lack of hearing about information about clean water. The research recommends increasing the awareness and participation of the community in the provision of sustainable clean water. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

There are a large number of people in the world who live without an adequate supply of clean water, and spend hours to get clean water. For this reason, access to water and water sources is one of the main keys to meeting the needs of the community's clean water, specifically rural communities in the semi-arid regions of Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the extent to which access to clean water sources affects the patterns of water use and fulfillment of rural communities. The method used is a survey completed with a questionnaire and observation. The object of the research was the rural water user community in TTS Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province with a total of 87 families, and water sources in the study area. Samples were divided into three areas which were categorized as dry, normal and wet. based on the analysis of rainfall data at 14 rain stations. The results showed an average water use level of 49 Lpcd (SD = 25) and the distance to the water source as far as 521 m (SD = 1100). There is a negative correlation between the distance of the water source and the amount of clean water used. Water availability factors affect water usage more than long distances but can be reached. This study also found that the use of clean water by the community is adaptive to the availability of water according to environmental conditions. This study recommends the importance of handling clean water issues according to the characteristics of each different region. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
