The government determines forests based on the main functions of: Conservation forest, protection forest and production forest. The Petungkriyono protected forest is one of the conservation areas located in the Petungkriyono, Pekalongan City. Conservation of protected forests in Petungkriyono is very much needed considering the development of the wider city, so that the forests that were originally forest areas that functioned as green open spaces have been greatly reduced, especially in areas along the river that leads to Pekalongan City. The research method used in this study is to use descriptive research methods. The data collection technique used is the study of literature. Data analysis techniques were performed using a Likert scale calculated by discriminant analysis. Type of participation contributed by the community in the protected forest area of Petungkriyono;a) participation of ideas, b) energy, c) property, d) skill e) social participation. The form of community participation in the conservation of the Petungkriyono protected forest area;a) active participation, b) passive participation. Geographical factors that serve as a reference for the importance of conservation of the Petungkriyono protected forest are: A) habitat, b) consideration of the area, c) physical and human factors, and d) economic value. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2020.

The growth of infrastructure development is currently increasing rapidly in Indonesia. Beside government policy trough their procurement in national, provincial and local level, it is also driven by private sector and per capita as of economic growing and increasing population. In the process physical development, several mixture of material such as stone, cement, sand, demolition material are often left over and discharge. Today Indonesia government will issued construction and demolition waste guideline to make more green and environmental sound. One of the basic problem founded was concerning to the development of model to estimated then monitored construction generation in rural, urban or in a strategic region. Moreover, in the era of digital as known as revolution industry 4.0, an automatic system of monitoring, known as smart monitoring of the construction waste generation is very importance to build. The purpose of this study was to build regional model of smart construction monitoring in Indonesia. The basic method to build the regional model is by utilized an index approach, and combined by using GIS to build automatic information delivery system from rural, urban or region to the central system. This study is then choosed Central Java Province for more detail model development. The study founded 7 (seven) pattern of construction waste generation. The extreme condition founded in Grobogan, Purworejo and Kebumen at which for decade 2000-2014 the degree is waste generation always decrease. In Addition, In central Java Province, this study founded three characteristic of regional model of construction waste as follow: (1) Region with high level of construction waste degree;(2) region with moderate level of construction waste degree;and (3) region with low level of construction waste degree. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Recently, Intention to accelerate SGDs achievement and also mitigate climate change impact concerning to regional health, increasing significantly. One of the regional health issues for those is concerning to impcat of plastic waste. Event though plastic is one of the principal materials in the regional market and industry, but then plastic waste arise to be principal problem for regional environmental health indicators since they linked living from land to coastal and to oceans. Many tons of plastic from land accounted enter to costal and or ocean then attack to all living thinks. Moreover they may be able to return to the land as microplastic consumed by fish. Today, quick respond to manage plastic waste have a high assosiation with effort to manage green food cycle as of covering basic regional food and cereal cycle. This study goal is to provide basic model for regional plastic waste degree monitoring. The model is developed by using "online" population data from regional statistical data and number of public market. GIS tools is used to degree of plastic waste in spatial map. For detail, Central Java Provice was then selected for model assessment. To monitor the plastic waste generation in spatial pattern, online data population for year 1990, 2000, 2010, 2018 and number of traditional market was utilized. The study calculated that the highest degree of plastic waste generation with population-base approach for year 2018 is located in Brebes Regency with estimated 161.53 Ton per day. Semarang city contributed 160.04 Ton per day and total plastic waste generation in Central Java is estimated 3, 090.38. According to the public market location, this study founded that Surakarta, Semarang, Pekalongan and Tegal clasify as high degree of plastic waste ggeneration. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd.

The water treatment depends exclusively on the identification of residues containing toxic chemical elements accumulated in NPs (nanoparticles), and ultrafine particles sourced from waste piles located at old, abandoned sulfuric acid factories containing phosphogypsum requires global attention. The general objective of this study is to quantify and analyze the hazardous chemical elements present in the leachate of waste from deactivated sulfuric acid factories, coupled in NPs and ultrafine particles, in the port region of the city of Imbituba, Santa Catarina, Brazil. Samples were collected in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Corresponding images from the Sentinel-3B OLCI satellite, taken in the same general vicinity, detected the levels of absorption coefficient of Detritus and Gelbstoff (ADG443_NN) in 443 m−1, chlorophyll-a (CHL_NN (m−3)), and total suspended matter (TSM_NN (g m−3) at 72 points on the marine coast of the port region. The results of inductively coupled plasma atomic-emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) demonstrate that the leaching occurring in waste piles at the port area of Imbituba was the likely source of hazardous chemical elements (e.g., Mg, Sr, Nd, and Pr) in the environment. These leachates were formed due to the presence of coal pyrite and Fe-acid sulfates in said waste piles. The mobility of hazardous chemical elements potentiates changes in the marine ecosystem, in relation to ADG443_NN (m−1), CHL_NN (m−3), and TSM NN (g m−3), with values greater than 20 g m−3 found in 2021 and 2022. This indicated changes in the natural conditions of the marine ecosystem up to 30 km from the coast in the Atlantic Ocean, justifying public initiatives for water treatment on a global scale. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Gajahmada Street is one of the main streets in the city of Semarang. The location is very strategic, which connects the Golden Triangle Region in Semarang City which is the center of the city. As a city center, transportation activities in the area are very high. Transportation activities produce carbon dioxide emissions. The accumulation of carbon dioxide emissions is dangerous for health and the environment. Semarang City Government provides green open space along the road section to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The purpose of this study was to determine the vegetation resilience to absorbing carbon dioxide at that location. The data collection method uses literature collection and field observations. The results showed the ability of green open space to absorb carbon dioxide emissions is 1.218,7 tons/ha/year. While the emissions produced are 6.832 tons/year, meaning that there is residual carbon dioxide that is not absorbed, that is 5.613,3 tons/year. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2020.

The waste bank is an alternative waste management in Indonesia. The waste Bank in Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta is one of the waste banks that has been established and is active until now. The method used to determine the generation and composition of waste is SNI 19-3964-1994. In addition, research data are obtained by observing and interviewing directly in the field, then analyzed by quantitative descriptive. The results showed the average rate of waste generation in Gunung Kidul Regency was 0.48 kg / person / day. The highest composition of waste in Gunung Kidul Regency is organic waste, which is 77.61%, while non-organic waste is 22.39%. At present, the Waste Bank in Gunung Kidul Regency is able to reduce waste by 0.86% with a total of 6,423 m3 / year reduced waste. The benefits of the existence of a waste bank, among others, are in the field of waste management, in terms of economic and social aspects. The potential for waste recycling is 17.49% from 22.39% of the total non-organic waste. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2020.

The mandatory carbon reduction guidelines and regulations in Indonesia encourage all industrial sectors particularly the petroleum industry to implement decarbonization programs by systematically reducing carbon emissions as part of climate action. Unlike existing carbon emission studies in the petroleum industry, the literature lacks studies on the decarbonization patterns. In addition, the effectiveness of carbon mitigation in the upstream oil and gas field has not been studied so far. This study developed short panel data models to understand the current decarbonization efforts and patterns during 2015–2018. The results indicate that the considered variables are significantly impactful in carbon reduction with different coefficient patterns. It is suggested to associate decarbonization with oil and gas production and highlight energy efficiency optimization to stabilize production. The impact of financial, human, and administrative resources on the supporting facility is critical for executing sustainable carbon mitigation projects. © 2024 The Authors

Gumelem village is one of the slums in the Pemalang Regency, Central Java Province. The area has characteristics such as high population density, the narrowness of the neighborhood road, the location of houses that coincide, the narrow house, and the house is inhabited by several families and does not have a private toilet. The formation of slums is an obstacle in regional development;for this, it is necessary to arrange the area. This study uses the Participatory Research Appraisal (PRA) method to ensure the active involvement of the target group community and place the community as a subject in the activation process. The research results show that social strengthening efforts in the community and government agencies in the management of the slum areas of Gumelem are essential to realizing the success of the slum structuring program. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2020.

Low head hydropower has the potential to produce green energy with a minimum on the environment and is one of the best choices for decentralized power plants. Aceh is one of many regions in Indonesia with hilly topography and many river streams. Of the 66 rivers in Aceh that have potential energy sources that can be developed 98.5 percent are low head. Generally, the technique for overcoming altitude problems in low river flows is the use of low head turbines. An important aspect of head power generation techniques is the selection of turbines. The study aimed to study low head propeller turbines for the use of micro hydropower plants. By calculating the main dimensions and main components of the turbine, field experiments were carried out to determine turbine rotation and energy, as well as turbine efficiency at a flow rate of 0.06 m3/sec and a 3.5-meter head. The calculation results obtained by a specific turbine speed of 1.53, runner diameter of 0.30 meters, hub diameter of 0.06 meters, shaft diameter 0.03, runner length 1.08, triangular speed of 30 degrees with the number of blades 4 pieces. From the results of field experiments, the maximum turbine rotation speed is 1828 rpm, the turbine power is 2,530 watts with a voltage between 220 to 240 volts while the maximum efficiency is 57 percent. It can be concluded that propeller-type turbines with the low head are suitable for micro power plants, especially in remote areas. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Coffee shells are one of the potential renewable materials used in the pyrolysis process to produce bio-oil. However, the amount of phenolic compounds, which is roughly 36.74%, is one of the primary drawbacks of using coffee shell bio-oil as a fuel source. Only a little amount of research has been done on the mass transfer modeling and phenomena of phenol extraction from coffee shell bio-oil. The objectives of this study are to identify the best extraction circumstances, ascertain the empirical correlation of total mass transfer, and produce the empirical correlation of Sherwood number, which can be used to characterize the role of variables in this mass transfer process. The ratio of impeller diameter to tank diameter and the Sherwood number, as well as Reynolds, Schmidt, Weber, dispersed phase holdup, were studied as dimensionless numbers. This study used liquid-liquid extraction process at the temperature of 50 °C, with chloroform-methanol 80% as a solvent with ratio of 2:1 v/v and use bio-oil to solvent ratio of 1:1 v/v. The extraction time has an interval of 30 min (20, 50, 80, 110 min), with varied impeller diameter (3.5 cm and 4 cm), vessels diameter (9 cm and 10 cm) and mixing speed (250 rpm, 300 rpm, 350 rpm). According to the findings, the greatest phenol yield was obtained at impeller diameter 3.5 cm, tank diameter 9 cm, and mixing speed 300 rpm, with a distribution coefficient of 0.848. The results demonstrate that the maximum overall mass transfer coefficient is 4.096 × 10-4 m/s and that the liquid diffusivity is 1.7965 × 10-9 m2/s. The equation model from this study could be applied to a liquid-liquid extraction process that is scaled up to extract more phenolic compounds from the the produced bio-oil. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd.
