He attended the University of Tokyo Japan where he received his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in 1986 and 1989 respectively. All his degrees are in Electrical Engineering. He worked for one year in the Hitachi research Laboratory Japan and for more than one year in Ohio State University U.S.A. as a Visiting Scholar. In 1991 he joined the National University of Singapore and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. His research interests lie in the fields of learning control variable structure control fuzzy logic control discontinuous signal processing and applications to motion control and process control problems. He is the associate editor of Asian Journal of Control member of TC on variable structure systems and sliding mode control of IEEE Control Systems Society and a senior member of IEEE. He has produced more than 90 peer-refereed journal papers near 160 technical papers in conference proceedings and authored/edited 4 books. 作者: DeHaemer, DJ Dr. Michael J. DeHaemer:is Director of the World Technology Evaluation Center and the Japanese Technology Evaluation Center at Loyola College in Baltimore. He has directed more than a dozen studies of technologies in foreign countries under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation ARPA Departments of Energy and Commerce and other agencies. He has a continuing interest in assessing foreign technologies in comparison to the United States.—-On the faculty of the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola College Dr. DeHaemer is a former department chairman and an associate professor of information systems and decision sciences. He teaches the strategic use of information technology and human-computer interface design. His research includes user performance with automated speech recognition systems for computers and business applications of artificial intelligence. Dr. DeHaemer completed an earlier career as a submarine officer including command of a ballistic missile submarine. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's degree in Operations Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School. He has an M.B.A. an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

After serving two years onUSS Lofberg (DD-759)as Electronics Material Officer he received his M.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School Monterey California and was selected as an Engineering Duty Officer (EDO). While serving as a Ship Superintendent Type Desk Officer and Docking Officer at the Pearl Habor Naval Shipyard he completed a M.S. degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. He has also had assignments on the Commander-in-Chief Pacific Staff as the Combat Direction Systems Maintenance Officer Mobile Technical Unit Five as Officer-in-Charge and he is presently at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as the Combat Systems Officer. LCdr. Layl is a member of IEEE ASNE and the U.S. Naval Institute. Cdr. George D. Ellis USN (Ret.):was graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy Kings Point New York in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He subsequently attended the United States Naval Postgraduate School Monterey California and the Department of Defense Computer Institute. He was employed as an engineer at the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center Carderock Maryland before entering the United States Navy on active duty in 1954. Mr. Ellis served at sea during the following thirteen years including two submarine command tours. He also served on the staffs of the office of Chief of Naval Operations Commander Submarine Force United States Pacific Fleet Commander-In-Chief Pacific and Commander-In-Chief United States Pacific Fleet. Cdr. Ellis is a veteran of the Vietnam conflict having served with the United States Naval Advisory Group. His decorations include the NAVY COMMENDATION MEDAL with Combat V VIETNAMESE HONOR MEDAL 1st Class VIETNAMESE MERITORIOUS UNIT CITATION NAVY EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL and the JOINT SERVICES COMMENDATION MEDAL.
