Josephson junction based on high critical-temperature superconductors: analysis, microcontroller implementation, and suppression of coexisting and chaotic attractors

A Josephson junction (JJ) based on high critical-temperature superconductors described by a linear resistive–capacitive–inductance shunted junction (LRCLSJ) model with unharmonic current-phase relation (UCPR) is theoretically and experimentally investigated in this paper. The numerical simulations indicate that JJ based on high critical-temperature superconductors exhibits excitable mode, regular spiking, periodic bursting, relaxation oscillations, chaotic attractors, and coexisting attractors. The theoretical investigations are verified experimentally through the microcontroller implementation. In addition, the coexistence between chaotic and limit cycle attractors found in JJ based on high critical-temperature superconductors is controlled to the desired trajectory using the linear augmentation control method. Finally, analytical calculations and numerical simulations are carried out to show the serviceableness of the two designed single controllers in suppressing chaos in JJ based on high critical-temperature superconductors.

Medical imaging is spearheading the AI transformation of healthcare. Performance reporting is key to determine which methods should be translated into clinical practice. Frequently, broad conclusions are simply derived from mean performance values. In this paper, we argue that this common practice is often a misleading simplification as it ignores performance variability. Our contribution is threefold. (1) Analyzing all MICCAI segmentation papers (n = 221) published in 2023, we first observe that more than 50% of papers do not assess performance variability at all. Moreover, only one (0.5%) paper reported confidence intervals (CIs) for model performance. (2) To address the reporting bottleneck, we show that the unreported standard deviation (SD) in segmentation papers can be approximated by a second-order polynomial function of the mean Dice similarity coefficient (DSC). Based on external validation data from 56 previous MICCAI challenges, we demonstrate that this approximation can accurately reconstruct the CI of a method using information provided in publications. (3) Finally, we reconstructed 95% CIs around the mean DSC of MICCAI 2023 segmentation papers. The median CI width was 0.03 which is three times larger than the median performance gap between the first and second ranked method. For more than 60% of papers, the mean performance of the second-ranked method was within the CI of the first-ranked method. We conclude that current publications typically do not provide sufficient evidence to support which models could potentially be translated into clinical practice. © 2024, CC BY.

With Industry 5.0 already on the horizon, firms need to adapt their strategies to better cater to an increasingly demanding and sustainability-conscious customer base. At the same time, the role of customers has shifted from being mere passive buyers to active users, who not only demand personalized products and services to suit their needs and preferences, but also actively engage other users and stakeholders, thereby grounding the Quadruple Helix model. The objective of this paper is to assess the role of user communities in fostering firms’ innovation in all types of innovation. Econometric estimations identified the user community as a driver of innovation propensity. Additionally, the relevance of these communities across all types of innovation (mainly for product and process innovation) was proven. Robustness analysis confirmed the results obtained in different dimensions and established a connection to human capital. This finding revealed that absorptive capacity serves not only as a facilitator of innovation, but also as a moderator. The empirical contributions point towards the urgency of policy actions that consistently involve these agents as vehicles of responsible innovation, which can fine-tune the innovation paths towards an eco-friendlier innovation ecosystem. Further testing the connection between human capital and the user community is required, as the establishment of efficient communication channels promoting the knowledge flows inside the firm will leverage innovation outputs in the different innovation types. © 2023, The Author(s).

Concerning the field of Health sciences, one of the trends with the greatest impact today is related to the feeding and consumption of foods intended for chronic patients with a nutritional association. According to this, the gluten-free diet is one of the diets with a today’s fastest-growing due to their health therapy associations for different diseases and because of more and more people are freely choosing to follow a gluten-free diet. On this subject, e-commerce platforms are destined to be a key point for the sale of this kind of products due to: (i) the change in the business model caused by the electronic platforms and (ii) the expected increase consumption of disease designed special foods. For this reason, the experiences written by chronic disease patients and consumers in these platforms have become increasingly relevant. In this sense, the present work applies biomedical text mining methods and demographic knowledge inference techniques to a large number of gluten-free foods consumer’s experiences to discover a wide range of health-related topics associated to gluten-free products, alimentary social trends and demographics differences. The results of these analyses show significant trends over time;differences between males and females consumption and a wide range of health-related conclusions, such as: why consumers start a free gluten diet or what are the most discussed diseases and adverse reactions related to these products. © 2021, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Dynamic processes on networks, be it information transfer in the Internet, contagious spreading in a social network, or neural signaling, take place along shortest or nearly shortest paths. Unfortunately, our maps of most large networks are substantially incomplete due to either the highly dynamic nature of networks, or high cost of network measurements, or both, rendering traditional path finding methods inefficient. We find that shortest paths in large real networks, such as the network of protein-protein interactions (PPI) and the Internet at the autonomous system (AS) level, are not random but are organized according to latent-geometric rules. If nodes of these networks are mapped to points in latent hyperbolic spaces, shortest paths in them align along geodesic curves connecting endpoint nodes. We find that this alignment is sufficiently strong to allow for the identification of shortest path nodes even in the case of substantially incomplete networks. We demonstrate the utility of latent-geometric path finding in problems of cellular pathway reconstruction and communication security. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Diabetes poses a considerable global health challenge,with varying levels of diabetes knowledge among healthcare professionals,highlighting the importance of diabetes *** Language Models(LLMs)provide new insights into diabetes training,but their performance in diabetes-related queries remains uncertain,especially outside the English language like *** first evaluated the performance of ten LLMs:ChatGPT-3.5,ChatGPT-4.0,Google Bard,LlaMA-7B,LlaMA2-7B,Baidu ERNIE Bot,Ali Tongyi Qianwen,MedGPT,HuatuoGPT,and Chinese LlaMA2-7B on diabetes-related queries,based on the Chinese National Certificate Examination for Primary Diabetes Care in China(NCE-CPDC)and the English Specialty Certificate Examination in Endocrinology and Diabetes of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the united ***,we assessed the training of primary care physicians(PCPs)without and with the assistance of ChatGPT-4.0 in the NCE-CPDC examination to ascertain the reliability of LLMs as medical *** found that ChatGPT-4.0 outperformed other LLMs in the English examination,achieving a passing accuracy of 62.50%,which was significantly higher than that of Google Bard,LlaMA-7B,and *** the NCE-CPFC examination,ChatGPT-4.0,Ali Tongyi Qianwen,Baidu ERNIE Bot,Google Bard,MedGPT,and ChatGPT-3.5 successfully passed,whereas LlaMA2-7B,HuatuoGPT,Chinese LLaMA2-7B,and LlaMA-7B ***-4.0(84.82%)surpassed all PCPs and assisted most PCPs in the NCE-CPDC examination(improving by 1%–6.13%).In summary,LLMs demonstrated outstanding competence for diabetes-related questions in both the Chinese and English language,and hold great potential to assist future diabetes training for physicians globally.

This paper presents a novel biological neural networks based on memristive Tabu learning neuron (MTLN) model influenced by electromagnetic radiation. Despite the model having an unstable equilibrium plane, numerical investigation without the influence of electromagnetic radiation reveal that when increasing the memristor strength induces complex phenomena, including the coexistence of infinite bubbles of bifurcations, offset plane coexistence of various attractors. Furthermore, electromagnetic radiation can significantly impact the system's behavior, giving rise to hyperchaotic dynamics. A decent understanding is seen between the mathematical outcomes, approved through trial execution on an Arduino microcontroller-based. The insights gained from neural dynamics could pave the way for applications in neuromorphic computing, engineering, and brain-machine interfaces. Based on the complex dynamics of the model, a data privacy of biomedical data has been build and reveals good results, and enable to resist to robust attacks. © 2024 The Author(s)

We theoretically examine the nonlinear effect of the magnetic field on the relaxation process of the exciton-polariton toward the Bose-Einstein condensation in GaAs quantum wells. As a result of the modification of the exciton's effective mass, Rabi splitting, and dispersion, the relaxation rate of polaritons toward condensation has been significantly modified. Using a quasi-stationary pump, the dynamics of total and condensated polariton versus magnetic field has been clarified. It has been shown that, for low-energy pumping, the condensation is significantly reduced with a magnetic field, and this arises from the reduction of the scattering rate between energy levels when the steepness of the dispersion at higher energy is reduced. Increasing of pump energy together with the magnetic field could lead to a more effective relaxation and a much higher number of condensated polariton is obtained. © 2024, The Authors. We theoretically investigate the nonlinear effects of a magnetic field on the relaxation process of exciton-polaritons toward Bose-Einstein condensation in GaAs quantum wells. Our study reveals that the modification of the exciton’s effective mass, Rabi splitting, and dispersion significantly alter the relaxation rate of polaritons as they approach condensation. By employing a quasi-stationary pump, we clarify the dynamics of the total and condensed polariton populations in response to varying magnetic field strengths. Notably, we demonstrate that under low-energy pumping conditions, the presence of a magnetic field significantly suppresses condensation. This suppression is attributed to the decreased scattering rate between energy levels, which is a consequence of the reduced steepness in the high-energy dispersion. In contrast, increasing both the pump energy and the magnetic field can enhance relaxation efficiency, leading to a substantially larger number of condensed polaritons. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.
