In this century, most of the companies use the electricity from the fossils fuels such as oil, gas and coal. This method will give negative impact to the environment and the fossils fuel will be run out. This project is to develop a microbial fuels cell that can produce electricity. There are several types of the microbial fuel cell, which are a single chamber, double chamber and continuous. In this paper, the double chamber microbial fuel cell was selected to investigate the effect of suspended sludge into the double chamber microbial fuels cell. The salt bridge will construct between both chambers of the double chamber microbial fuels cell. Carbon graphite rod is selected as an electrode at the cathode and anode to transfer the electron from the anode to the cathode. Electricity is generated from the anaerobic oxidation of organic matter by bacteria. At the end of this project, the microbial fuels cell was successful in generating electricity that can be used for a specific application.

The quantitative analyses of Nuclear power Plant (NPP)'s repairable systems are conventionally Markov-based methods. The thing is, systems' state space grows exponentially with the increase of basic events, which makes the problem hard or even impossible to solve. In addition, the maintenance/test activities are frequently imposed on some safety-critical components, which make the Markov based approach unavailable. In this paper, a new numerical simulation approach based on MCSS (Minimal Cut Sequence Set) is proposed, which can get over the shortcomings of the conventional Markov method. Two typical cases are analyzed and results indicate that the new approach is correct as well as feasible.

The quantitative calculations of Nuclear power Plant (NPP)'s repairable system are mainly based on Markov model. However, with the increase of the system's size, the system's state space increases exponentially, which makes the problem hard or even not to be solved. This paper proposes a method about quick calculation of Dynamic Fault Tree (DFT) for NPP's repairable system based on Minimal Cut Sequence Set (MCSS), which divides a complex DFT into individual failure chain defined by MCSS. For each failure chain, the Markov model is applied. Then the unavailability of system is obtained synthesizing the result of each failure chain. This approach decreases the system's size increasing from exponentially to linearly and reduces the computation complexity. As to the NPP's dynamic systems with low failure rate and high repair rate, this approach can give a solution with a high-precision and conservative result and has practical value.

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and Common Information Model (CIM) are the graphics and module information sharing and format specification standard of power automation systems. The CIM/SVG graphics/module power platform integration technology is one of the key topics of graphics and data sharing and visualizing between various power application systems. Two main developing technologies, the underlying developing approach with programming language and the Visio based secondary development, are compared from aspects of primitives modeling, graphics system developing and topology analyzing. In recent years, the data mining technology has been developed rapidly. New efficient algorithms are emerging. Association data mining plays an important role in data mining, and the frequent item sets are the highest and the most costly. This paper is based on the association rules data mining technology. The advantages and disadvantages of Apriori algorithm and FP-growth algorithm are deeply analyzed in the association rules, and a new algorithm is proposed, finally, the performance of the algorithm is compared with the experimental results. It provides a reference for the extension and improvement of the algorithm of association rule mining.

Existing analytical methods for analyzing warm standby systems are mainly Markov-based and inclusion-exclusion-based approaches. However, both approaches have their own shortcomings. As to Markov-based methods, they often confront the problem of state space explosion and require exponential components time-to-failure distributions. For the inclusion-exclusion-based approaches, the multi-integration formulas developed for quantifying minimal cut sequences generated from warm spare gate system base on exponential components time-to-failure distribution as well. In this paper, new sequential multi-integration formulas are proposed for quantifying warm spare systems, which are applicable for system having components with arbitrary time-to-failure distributions. The rigorous mathematical derivations are presented thoroughly. For a validation purpose, an illustrative example is analyzed. The results indicate that our proposed method is reasonable.

Many fault-tolerant systems in real life are involved in sequence- and function-dependent failure behaviors, in which the failure of these systems depends not only on the combination of basic events, but also on their failure orders. Dynamic fault tree (DFT) as an extension of the conventional static fault tree is widely used to model such systems. The existing analytical approaches for reliability evaluation of DFT are mainly Markov-based, Inclusion-exclusion-based and sequential-BDD - based methods. Those approaches either suffer from the problem of state-space explosion or are subjected to combinatorial explosion knot or have small flaws. To overcome the shortcomings of the existing methods, a pivotal decomposition scheme upon the structure function of a given DFT is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach rewrites the structure function into equivalent sum-of-disjoint products based on Shannon decomposition theorem and exactly calculates the unreliability of non-repairable dynamic systems modeled by DFT. In addition, the proposed method is efficient compared with existing approaches. The application and advantages of the proposed method are demonstrated by analysis of a case study.

With the progress of DNA computing, DNA-based cryptography becomes an emerging interdisciplinary research field. In this paper, we present a novel DNA cryptography that takes advantage of DNA self-assembled structure. Making use of the toehold strands recognition and strand displacement, the bit-wise exclusive-or (XOR) operation is carried out to fulfill the information encryption and decryption in the form of a one-time-pad. The security of this system mainly comes from the physical isolation and specificity of DNA molecules. The system is constructed by using complex DNA self-assembly, in which technique of fluorescent detection is utilized to implement the signal processing. In the proposed DNA cryptography, the XOR operation at each bit is carried out individually, thus the encryption and decryption process could be conducted in a massive, parallel way. This work may demonstrate that DNA cryptography has the great potential applications in the field of information security.

The main objective of this paper is to study and analyze the power supply stage of a series-series (SS) fixed-frequency inductive power transfer (IPT) system, in order to suggest effective soft switching techniques to improve its performance. Because of the characteristics of the system, zero voltage switching (ZVS) operation was used and three control strategies were compared: phase-shift (PS) control, asymmetrical duty cycle (ADC) control and optimal asymmetrical voltage cancellation (o_AVC) control. The o_AVC control is found to be more efficient for this application. Additionally, this paper presents an inductive power transfer transformer (IPTT) prototype that was built in the laboratory, which helped validate the theoretical analysis and simulation results with practical tests. The plots and circuit simulations were obtained from MATLAB and SIMULINK respectively.
