Recently, CNN and Transformer hybrid networks demonstrated excellent performance in face super-resolution (FSR) tasks. Since numerous features at different scales in hybrid networks, how to fuse these multi-scale features and promote their complementarity is crucial for enhancing FSR. However, existing hybrid network-based FSR methods ignore this, only simply combining the Transformer and CNN. To address this issue, we propose an attention-guided Multi-scale interaction network (AMINet), which contains local and global feature interactions as well as encoder-decoder phases feature interactions. Specifically, we propose a Local and Global Feature Interaction Module (LGFI) to promote fusions of global features and different receptive fields' local features extracted by our Residual Depth Feature Extraction Module (RDFE). Additionally, we propose a Selective Kernel Attention Fusion Module (SKAF) to adaptively select fusions of different features within LGFI and encoder-decoder phases. Our above design allows the free flow of multi-scale features from within modules and between encoder and decoder, which can promote the complementarity of different scale features to enhance FSR. A Weakly Supervised Contrastive Learning Pretraining Method for Visual Defect Detection of Transmission Lines

To address the issue of low detection accuracy caused by the similarity between inspection targets and backgrounds in power transmission line inspection images, this article designs a visual defect inspection framework for electrical components based on weakly supervised contrastive learning pretraining. First, two power transmission line inspection datasets are constructed: one containing coarse labels and another with fine-grained labels. The coarse label dataset is used for weakly supervised contrastive learning pretraining, where the coarse label information distinguishing the target from the background is utilized to perform feature metric learning on 1-D (global) and 2-D (local) features. This significantly improves the ability to distinguish between background and target features in local regions. The fine-grained label dataset is used for supervised target detection model transfer learning, which provides precise target location and category information, further enhancing the model’s accuracy and robustness in detecting targets against complex backgrounds. Additionally, this article introduces a deformable convolution operation at the global image level to learn the boundaries between the background and the target. Furthermore, a novel multipath coordinated attention mechanism is designed to dynamically optimize the boundary offset, further enhancing the global feature distinction and target detection performance. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves the detection accuracy from 76.0% to 79.4% compared to the original algorithm. When transferred to similar target detection algorithms, the method achieves an improvement ranging from 0.7% to 2.8%, effectively enhancing the performance of the existing algorithms in detecting targets in complex background environments. Structural Robustness of Complex Networks: A Survey of A Posteriori Measures

Network robustness is critical for various industrial and social networks against malicious attacks, which has various meanings in different research contexts and here it refers to the ability of a network to sustain its functionality when a fraction of the network fail to work due to attacks. The rapid development of complex networks research indicates special interest and great concern about the network robustness, which is essential for further analyzing and optimizing network structures towards engineering applications. This comprehensive survey distills the important findings and developments of network robustness research, focusing on the a posteriori structural robustness measures for single-layer static networks. Specifically, the a posteriori robustness measures are reviewed from four perspectives: 1) network functionality, including connectivity, controllability and communication ability, as well as their extensions;2) malicious attacks, including conventional and computation-based attack strategies;3) robustness estimation methods using either analytical approximation or machine learning-based prediction;4) network robustness optimization. Based on the existing measures, a practical threshold of network destruction is introduced, with the suggestion that network robustness should be measured only before reaching the threshold of destruction. Then, a posteriori and a priori measures are compared experimentally, revealing the advantages of the a posteriori measures. Finally, prospective research directions with respect to a posteriori robustness measures are recommended. © 2023, CC BY.

In an inductive power transfer (IPT) system, various magnetic materials have difference characteristics in enhancing the degree of coupling and misalignment tolerance between the primary and secondary coils. However, the iron losses in ferromagnetic materials may decrease the transfer efficiency of the IPT system significantly. Therefore, in this study, performance and misalignment tolerance of IPT systems with four types of ferromagnetic materials are investigated. Firstly, an equivalent circuit model of the IPT system is established and the variations of system efficiency with different ferromagnetic materials are also revealed. Then, a 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) model of the magnetic coupler is established. In addition, loss test platform is established to obtain the accurate loss coefficients. Finally, the transfer efficiency and magnetic field distributions are both investigated. The results show that the high efficiency and magnetic flux density can be achieved when nanocrystalline core with vertical laminations is used.

Efficient and accurate segmentation of the point cloud for indoor scenes is an important task for 3D scene understanding. Due to the complexity of indoor environments. It is difficult to fully extract the details of point cloud, resulting in poor recognizability in existing models. In this paper, a novel framework called joint semantic-instance segmentation via enhancedutilization of neighbor features is proposed to achieve semantic and instance segmentation of indoor scenes. This framework mines point cloud information from a local scale, but it is different from other models in that it focuses on the full mining of point cloud neighbor information. In this regard, a new neighbor feature extraction module is developed to enrich the expression of neighborhood information and enlarge the construction of the neighborhood neighbor scope. Besides, semantic and instance segmentations take advantages of each other by constructing a mutual promotion model of semantic and instance, which can obtain more accurate semantic and instance predictions for indoor scenes. The proposed scheme is evaluated on the S3DIS dataset and compared with existing methods. Experimental results demonstrate that this method is more effective and efficient than previous approaches in joint 3D semantic and instance segmentation. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Modeling Method for DFIG-Based Wind Farm in High-Efficiency Real-Time Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Simulations

With the increasing integration of renewable energy into power systems, electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation has become indispensable for accurate system analysis. However, the complexity of wind turbine (WT) modeling, characterized by a large number of electrical nodes, poses significant challenges and necessitates substantial real-time simulation hardware. Existing methods for reducing circuit complexity improve simulation efficiency but are each associated with inherent limitations. Aggregation methods sacrifice considerable internal station information, while existing decoupling techniques are constrained by specific requirements. This paper proposes a real-time simulation model for a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)-based wind farm (WF) using latency decoupling and a multi-level nested fast and simultaneous solution (M-NFSS) approach, effectively reducing node count while preserving internal details. A WF test model is implemented in RTDS for validation. Results demonstrate highly accurate impedance characteristics and time-domain waveforms of the proposed model, utilizing only 33.3% of the hardware resources compared to the traditional detailed model. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Three-dimensional (3D) and porous scaffolds made from nanocellulosic materials hold significant potential in tissue engineering (TE). Here, we present a protocol for fabricating self-standing (nano)cellulose-based 3D scaffolds designed for in vitro testing of cells from skin and cartilage tissues. We describe steps for preparation of nanocellulose ink, scaffold formation using 3D printing, and freeze-drying. We then detail post-processing procedures to enhance mechanical properties, stability, and biocompatibility. This protocol offers researchers a framework for developing versatile and sustainable biomaterials for regenerative medicine. We model a platooning system including trucks and a third-party service provider that performs platoon coordination, distributes the platooning profit within platoons, and charges the trucks in exchange for its services. This paper studies one class of pricing rules, where the third-party service provider keeps part of the platooning profit each time a platoon is formed. Furthermore, we propose a platoon coordination solution based on distributed model predictive control in which the pricing rule is integrated. To evaluate the effect of the pricing on the platooning system, we perform a simulation over the Swedish road network. The simulation shows that the platooning rate and profit highly depend on the pricing. This suggests that pricing needs to be set carefully to obtain a satisfactory platooning system in the future.

In this paper, we study the channel selection problem in edge computing-empowered cognitive machine-to-machine (CM2M) communications, where a massive number of machine type devices (MTDs) offload their computational tasks to a nearby edge server by opportunistically using the spectra that are temporarily unoccupied by primary users (PUs). We formulate the channel selection problem as an adversarial multi-armed bandit (MAB) problem, and combine the exponential-weight algorithm for exploration and exploitation (EXP3) and Lyapunov optimization to develop a learning-based energy-efficient solution named SEB-EXP3. It can find the long-term optimal channel selection strategy with guaranteed performance based on local information, while simultaneously achieving service reliability awareness, energy awareness, and data backlog awareness. Four heuristic algorithms are compared with SEB-EXP3 to demonstrate its effectiveness and reliability under various simulation settings. © 2020 IEEE.

Multi-level Coordinated Energy Management for Energy Hub in Hybrid Markets with Distributionally Robust Scheduling

Maintaining energy balance and economical operation is significant for multi-energy systems such as the energy hub (EH). However, it is usually challenged by the frequently changing and unpredictable uncertain parameters at different timescales. Under this scope, this paper investigates the coordinated energy management problem for day-ahead and intra-day conditions considering uncertainties of source-load and market prices concurrently. Note that the precise knowledge of distributions about uncertainties may be unaccessible before the decision-making in day-ahead phase. A two-stage chance-constrained model based on distributionally robust approach with ambiguous moment information is proposed to immunize scheduling strategies against the worst-case probability distributions. The first stage is dedicated to obtaining more energy arbitrage and operation flexibility by optimizing bidding strategies in day-ahead power, natural gas and carbon trading markets. The second stage focuses on the optimization of the worst-case expected operation cost. It provides a robust energy equipment and load scheduling strategy for the reference of subsequent intra-day arrangements. With respect to different variations of electrical and thermal components, an intra-day two-timescale coordination is implemented step by step. The energy scheduling is re-dispatched circularly to minimize the operation and penalty costs. The possible energy imbalance is also compensated by this way. As the energy management program is nonlinear, chance-constrained and multi-stage, some linearization and dual transformation techniques are designed to enhance tractability of the program. Experimental results show that the developed multi-level framework results in a carbon emission decrease of 37%, and reduces energy cost averagely 3% compared with corresponding contrasting cases.
