Photovoltaic (PV) systems are gradually becoming the key renewable source of electrical energy. But the nonlinear characteristics of the PV module require special techniques to harvest maximum power. The techniques used to track the Maximum power Point (MPP) from the nonlinear I-V characteristics through power electronic circuits are known as Maximum power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques. Although enormous MPPT techniques have been anticipated in literature, each endures its own advantages and disadvantages. This paper proposes a novel hybrid technique to enhance the performance of Incremental conductance (InC) technique. Our proposed technique removes the limitations of InC under rapid changing environmental condition. It improves the efficiency and reduces the oscillation power loss under steady state. A hybrid combination of variable-step sized Incremental Conductance with Fractional Short Circuit Current (FSCC) technique is proposed in this research work. Initially, the FSCC forces the PV system to work near MPP and then InC technique track the exact peak. Matlab/Simulink software is used to implement the proposed hybrid technique. Finally, the results verify its superior performance under rapidly changing environmental conditions.

This study presents an algorithm to optimally aggregate spatially distributed flexible resources at strategic microgrid/smart-grid locations. The aggregation reduces a distribution network having thousands of nodes to an equivalent network with a few aggregated nodes, thereby enabling distribution system operators (DSOs) to make faster operational decisions. Moreover, the aggregation enables flexibility from small distributed flexible resources to be traded to different power and energy markets. A hierarchical control architecture comprising a combination of centralized and decentralized control approaches is proposed to practically deploy the aggregated flexibility. The proposed method serves as a great operational tool for DSOs to decide the exact amount of required flexibilities from different network section(s) for solving grid constraint violations. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through simulation of three operational scenarios in a real low voltage distribution system having high penetrations of electric vehicles and heat pumps. The simulation results demonstrated that the aggregation helps DSOs not only in taking faster operational decisions, but also in effectively utilizing the available flexibility.

In this paper, we study the semi-global output containment control problem of a multi-agent system in the presence of actuator saturation over a directed network. The leader and follower agents are of different dynamics, and the follower agents are affected by disturbances generated by the leader agents through directed paths in the communication topology. The control objective of the output containment control is to drive the output trajectories of the follower agents to converge to the convex hull spanned by the outputs of the leader agents in the presence of disturbances. Low gain feedback containment protocols are constructed based on the output regulation approach and distributed observers. It is shown that semi-global output containment control can be achieved by the proposed protocols, if each follower agent is connected to at least one leader agent through a directed path in the communication topology. Simulation results verify the theoretical conclusions.

This paper studies the global leader-following consensus problem for a multi-agent system using event-triggered bounded *** the follower agents and the leader agent are described by a chain of integrators of an arbitrary *** event-triggered control law is constructed for each follower agent and an event-triggering strategy is designed for updating the control *** event-triggered control laws are shown to achieve global leader-following consensus when the communication topology among the follower agents is connected and the leader is a neighbor of at least one follower *** absence of the Zeno behavior is established.A self-triggering strategy is also proposed to avoid continuous verification of the triggering *** results are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

—Small object tracking becomes an increasingly important task, which however has been largely unexplored in computer vision. The great challenges stem from the facts that: 1) small objects show extreme vague and variable appearances, and 2) they tend to be lost easier as compared to normal-sized ones due to the shaking of lens. In this paper, we propose a novel aggregation signature suitable for small object tracking, especially aiming for the challenge of sudden and large drift. We make three-fold contributions in this work. First, technically, we propose a new descriptor, named aggregation signature, based on saliency, able to represent highly distinctive features for small objects. Second, theoretically, we prove that the proposed signature matches the foreground object more accurately with a high probability. Third, experimentally, the aggregation signature achieves a high performance on multiple datasets, outperforming the state-of-the-art methods by large margins. Moreover, we contribute with two newly collected benchmark datasets, i.e., small90 and small112, for visually small object tracking. The datasets will be available in https://***/bczhangbczhang/. A linear solution method of generalized robust chance constrained real-time dispatch

In this letter, a novel solution method of generalized robust chance constrained real-time dispatch (GRCC-RTD) considering wind power uncertainty is proposed. GRCC models are advantageous in dealing with distributional uncertainty, however, they are difficult to solve because of the complex ambiguity set. By constructing traceable counterparts of the robust chance constraints and using the reformulation linearization technique, the model is equivalently transformed into a deterministic linear programming problem, which can be solved efficiently by offthe-shelf solvers. Numerical results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the approach. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.
