The escalating demand for renewable energy has catalyzed a notable increase in the production and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems globally. However, PV panels are prone to defects arising during transportation, installation, and exposure to adverse weather conditions, thereby compromising their lifespan and efficiency. Conventional inspection methods, including visual inspection and I-V curve analysis, necessitate specialized expertise and are time-intensive, underscoring the need for more cost-effective and efficient inspection methodologies. This paper endeavors to analyze and compare the advantages and efficacy of two solar panel inspection techniques: thermal infrared (IR) imaging and electroluminescence (EL) imaging. IR images were acquired using a FLIR Pro thermal imaging camera, while EL images were obtained both indoors and outdoors utilizing a low-cost modification of a Panasonic GF3 camera. The study findings indicate that EL imaging is the superior method for detecting a range of defects in solar cells, though each technique presents distinct advantages. Thermal infrared imaging proves effective for identifying temperature-related defects but may fall short in detecting microscopic flaws. The developed EL setup, being straightforward and cost-efficient, represents a viable option for both small and large-scale PV systems, thereby fostering advancements in the PV inspection domain. Moreover, image analysis employing OpenCV and deep learning markedly enhances inspection efficiency by facilitating defect detection through photographic analysis alone. © 2024 IEEE.

Characteristics of Controlled Bridge Circuit and Its Application in Magnetic Field Induction Measurement

The article designs a new type of bridge circuit with a controlled source—when the resistance on the bridge arm of the controlled source bridge circuit meets the bridge balance condition, and the bridge branch contains only one Current-Controlled Current Source (CCCS), a Voltage-Controlled Current Source (VCCS), a Current-Controlled Voltage Source (CCVS), or a Voltage-Controlled Voltage Source (VCVS), the circuit is called a controlled bridge circuit, which has the characteristics of bridge balance. Due to the relationship between the controlled source and the bridge arm, the sensitivity of the components on the bridge is higher mathematically and logically. When applied to measurement, engineering, automatic control, and other fields, the controlled bridge circuit has higher control ac-curacy. Mathematical derivation and simulation results prove the correctness of the bridge balance conclusion and the special properties of this bridge when applied to the measurement field.

Bolt-YOLO: Research on an Algorithm Framework for Detecting Bolt Defects in Transmission Lines

In transmission lines, bolt fittings are critical components that connect towers and insulators. These fittings are prone to defects, such as loosening or missing bolts, due to natural environmental factors, posing significant risks to the system's operation. Drone inspection images are increasingly used for the intelligent detection of bolt fittings, yet the small size of bolt components and the uneven distribution of sample quantities limit detection accuracy. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a multi-type bolt fitting defect detection algorithm aimed at improving detection accuracy and robustness. To tackle the issue of small target detection, we design a novel down-sampling method that incorporates both global and local feature perception, reducing the loss of small target information. This method is integrated into the Res-PANet, a multi-scale feature fusion structure based on residual skip connections, which compensates for the loss of small target details in high-level semantic features. Additionally, to address the sample imbalance problem, we introduce adaptive class weighting and a Minimum Peripheral Point Distance (MPPD) bounding box similarity constraint to better locate imbalanced sample regions from the loss function perspective. Experimental results, using a detection dataset containing four types of targets—normal bolts, missing pins, loose pins, and missing nuts—demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Compared to the original YOLOv8 model, the improved model shows a 1.9% accuracy improvement for detecting missing pins, a 3.2% improvement for loose pins, and a 4.2% improvement for missing nuts. The overall mean accuracy increased from 69.5% to 72.1%. These results provide a solid technical foundation for detecting bolt fitting defects in transmission lines, offering significant practical value for future inspection tasks. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

There are a lot of quantitative performance characterisation methods for composite ***,how to apply the characterisation methods with different dimensions to comprehensively assess the health state of composite insulators remains a big problem for operators and researchers.A comprehensive health assessment model for composite insulators based on the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)method is proposed in this *** composite insulators from four regions in Yunnan Province,China,and five quantitative characterisation indicators of the insulators,namely hardness,hydrophobicity,loss of hydrophobicity,recovery of hydrophobicity,and trap charge,are selected to verify the *** results show that the Pearson correlation coefficient of the TOPSIS-based comprehensive health score with operating time is 0.72,which is better than the other single *** introducing the operating time into the TOPSIS-based model,we can also obtain the ageing resistance performance of the composite *** work provides a new idea to assess the health state and ageing performance of composite insulators.

While spin-orbit interaction has been extensively studied,few investigations have reported on the interaction between orbital angular momenta(OAMs).In this work,we study a new type of orbit-orbit coupling between the longitudinal OAM and the transverse OAM carried by a three-dimensional(3D)spatiotemporal optical vortex(STOV)in the process of tight *** 3D STOV possesses orthogonal OAMs in the x-y,t-x,and y-t planes,and is preconditioned to overcome the spatiotemporal astigmatism effect.x,y,and t are the axes in the spatiotemporal *** corresponding focused wavepacket is calculated by employing the Debye diffraction theory,showing that a phase singularity ring is generated by the interactions among the transverse and longitudinal vortices in the highly confined *** Fourier-transform decomposition of the Debye integral is employed to analyze the mechanism of the orbit-orbit *** is the first revelation of coupling between the longitudinal OAM and the transverse OAM,paving the way for potential applications in optical trapping,laser machining,nonlinear light-matter interactions,and more.

Effects of Corona Discharge from the Grounding Tip on Charge Evolution of Wall Bushing

Manufacturers consider that the grounding tip near the wall bushing flange is a potentially important factor in several sheath perforation accidents. Taking a ±100 kV true type SF6 gas-insulated bushing as a typical wall bushing, this paper tests the impact of the nearby grounding tip on the charge accumulation. Based on the experiment results, we propose the three-dimensional nonlinear conduction model to unravel the charge accumulation process and the three-dimensional corona ion migration model to clarify the corona process. It is concluded that the consumption of gas ions leads to the nonlinear charge relaxation process. When the corona of grounding tip incepts, numerous ions are generated, forming an "overcharge" phenomenon. The electric field at the insulator-sheds interface and the SF6-insulator interface increases compared to the normal condition, with non-uniform distribution along the circumferential direction. Material inhomogeneity amplifies electric field distortion and creates insulation weaknesses, making insulation aging more likely and potentially leading to a slowly developing electrical tree breakdown process. The length of the needle tip affects the duration of the corona effect;an excessively long needle tip can cause a sustained corona discharge. This research provides a foundation for bushing accidents analysis and operation reliability improvement. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

To address the pressing need for intelligent and efficient control of circulating fluidized bed(CFB)units,it is crucial to develop a dynamic model for the key operating parameters of supercritical circulating fluidized bed(SCFB)***,data-knowledge-driven dynamic model of bed temperature,load,and main steam pressure of the SCFB unit has been ***,a knowledge-driven method is employed to develop a dynamic model for key operating parameters of SCFB *** model parameters are determined based on the operating data of the unit and continuously optimized in real ***,Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory combined with Convolutional Neural Network and Attention Mechanism is utilized to build the dynamic model of bed temperature,load,and main steam ***,a collaboration and integration method based on the critic weight method and the variation coefficient method is proposed to establish data-knowledge-driven model of key operating parameters for SCFB *** model displays great accuracy and fitting ability compared with other methods and effectively captures the dynamic characteristics,which can provide a research basis for the design of intelligent flexible control mode of SCFB unit.
