Nonperiodic cycle detection methods for gas/liquid two phase flow system were discussed. Cycle detection methods, such as Hurst analysis, the V statistic and the P statistic were briefly reviewed; in addition, a modified P statistic method was introduced. Two types of time series, i.e. mathematically sine wave time series and experimental electrical capacitance tomography time series of plug flow and slug flow under different flow conditions were investigated to verify the effectiveness of different cycle detection methods. The sine wave time series and sine wave time series under gauss noise were used to validate different cycle detection methods. For the electrical capacitance tomography time series of different flow regime, discrete wavelet transform (DWT) was adopted to decompose the original signal into approximate signal and detail signals, and then different cycle detection methods were mainly applied to realize cyclic characterization analysis of detail signals for plug flow and slug flow. The results show that the nonperiodic cycle characteristic analysis can reflect the property of different flow regimes.

Aim at the hysteretic nonlinearity characteristic of the giant magnetostrictive actuator in control, an internal model control method based on support vector regression is presented in this paper. Its models are built by support vector regression using the input and output data of the actuator and the internal model control is achieved. The simulation results show the method in this paper has better control precision.

A simple dynamic model of an industrial size synchronous generator operating in a nuclear power plant is developed in this paper based on first engineering principles. The constructed state-space model consists of a nonlinear state equation and a bi-linear output equation. It has been shown that the model is locally asymptotically stable with parameters obtained from the literature for a similar generator. The effect of load disturbances on the partially controlled generator has been analyzed by simulation using a traditional PI controller. It has been found that the controlled system is stable and can follow the set-point changes in the effective power well. The disturbance rejection of the controller is also satisfactory.

This paper investigates the absolute stability problem for Lur'e singularly perturbed systems with multiple nonlinearities. The objective is to determine if the system is absolutely stable for any Ε ∈ (0, Ε0], where Ε denotes the perturbation parameter and Ε0 is a pre-defined positive scalar. Firstly, an Ε-dependent Lyapunov function of Lur'e-postnikov form is constructed. Then, a stability criterion expressed in terms of Ε-independent linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is derived. Finally, an example is given to show the feasibility and effectiveness of the obtained method. © 2010 AACC.

In this study a new fuzzy expert system for ischemic beat detection based on interpretability is proposed. First, efficacious morphologic features which are useful in ischemia detection are extracted by wavelet analysis. Then, subtractive clustering is performed for clustering of normal patterns. Finally after creation of fuzzy system, rule reduction and optimization is employed in respect with accuracy and interpretability in order to achieve more optimized system. The fuzzy expert system is evaluated on the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) ST-T database. The results proof the medical rules that are common in detection of ischemia by physicians. Also some other rules those are not common for physicians gain medical interpretation ability is proposed.

This paper deals with design of continuous-time robustly stabilizing Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers for interval systems using the combination of Kronecker summation method, sixteen plant theorem and an algebraic approach to controller tuning. The effectiveness and practical applicability of the proposed method is demonstrated in both simulation and real experiments including control of a third order nonlinear electronic plant.

This paper discusses the design of a controller for teleoperation systems which operate in contact with unknown environments. For this purpose, the controller in the slave part is designed to use a classical controller and a neuro-fuzzy controller. To have a haptic teleoperation, the force feedback from the contact point to the master side is needed. In this study virtual force is fed back to the master instead of the measured contact force and the feedback force is the position error i.e. the difference between the position of master and slave robots. Primary, classical controller was designed for this object, the gains of this controller is obtained by standard genetic algorithm (GA), in offline and optimization method at nominal operating point. In master-slave robot with classical controller, when, robot works in soft or hard environment and the operating point was changed, the obtained controller are not suitable. For this reason, online neuro - fuzzy gain scheduling controller are designed for this system to tune the controller's parameters. The NF trained in offline mode based on GA and in online application tuned the controller based on monitoring of operating point of system. This method makes the system robust to uncertainties such as modeling errors, parameter mismatches and disturbances. The simulation results show the ability of proposed method in compare of other controllers such as Kalman filter.

This paper considers about the control problem for an underactuated quadrotor UAV system with model parameter uncertainty. Backstepping based techniques are utilized to design a nonlinear adaptive controller which can compensate for the mass uncertainty of the vehicle. Lyapunov based stability analysis shows that the proposed control design yields asymptotic tracking for the UAV's motion in x, y, z direction and the yaw rotation, while keep the stability of the closed loop dynamics of the quadrotor UAV. Numerical simulation results are provided to show the good tracking performance of proposed control laws.

The multiobjective collaborative optimization (MCO) has been widely adopted in concurrent engineering design as a good multiobjective optimization approach provided the problem of optimization results converging often to a local extremum has been taken care of. It has been demonstrated to yield useful solutions to a wide range of optimization problems under concurrent condition both technical and non-technical ones. A solution strategy for MCO that overcomes this drawback is proposed here on the grounds of genetic NSGA-II algorithm. It is an adaptive heuristic search technique that controls the distances between the individual and system's feasible region during genetic evolution. In the evolving NSGA-II based non-dominated sorting, the individual threshold of infeasibility degree is reduced gradually via genetic evolution and the individual's feasibility capacity is determined by its infeasibility degree and the threshold. It has been applied to a benchmark example of speed reducer design, and the obtained results demonstrate the proposed technique is comparably more efficient and may offer substantial advantages over the gradient-based optimization methods. © 2010 IFAC.

This paper compares different classification methods of ECG signals including their accuracies. First of all , Preprocessing for ECG signal is necessary in order to detect QRS complex. Then, with the intention of extract influential features in Ischemia disease, baseline wandering and noise suppression is done. Following to above mentioned target, two neuro-fuzzy classification algorithms incorporated with two artificial neural networks classifiers selected. They put under test to investigate their ability to recognize Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) from ECG signals. Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Locally Linear Model Tree (LOLIMOT), are two neuro-fuzzy networks used in the test. They have good capability of learning. Also Multi layer Perceptron (MLP) and Probabilistic Neural Networks (PNN) used as well in test. These are four structures totally used in this paper. The ECG sampled signals are taken from MIT-BIH database. They are used to train neural networks enabling them to classify Ischemia. All neuro-structures have been tested by using experimental ECG records of individuals. The results suggest that neuro-fuzzy classifiers perform better than the other types of classifiers.
