Partial shading imposes a major issue while generating power using solar photovoltaics (SPV) and consequences in the formation of hot spots and manifold peaks in the power-voltage (P-V) curve of the SPV arrays. As a result, a main deforming concern arises i.e., The power loss due to mismatch in the SPV system is dependent on and directly caused by the shading pattern. Mitigation of this MPL can be assessed by selecting a proper configuration of the SPV array and optimal shading dispersion over the complete SPV array. This paper focuses on the implementation of renowned metaheuristic algorithms (MAs) to optimally disperse the shading effect for a partially shaded total-cross-tied (TCT) SPV array configuration. A partial shading effect is generated using a realistic moving cloud model by incorporating various affecting environmental parameters. Furthermore, MAs are tested for the designed moving cloud model and a comprehensive analysis is presented among the various SPV array configurations. © 2023 IEEE.

Lane marking detection is a necessary system in autonomous vehicles as well as a challenging one to develop. It forms the basis for intelligent systems in autonomous vehicle driving and has always been a concern in the field of computer vision, especially in perception systems. In fact, there are a lot of machine learning methods used for lane marking detection including CNN-based lane marking detection with various models and datasets for model training. In this research, a lane marking detection method based on instance segmentation is presented. The proposed method is trained using the TUSimple dataset. The lane marking detection results are then classified into 2 types of classes i.e., solid and dashed lines based on training using deep learning with the same dataset. Furthermore, the proposed lane marking detection and classification method is conducted in real experiments in urban area at Bandung, Indonesia. The method gives a promising result as it can well-classified the lanes with more than 70% accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

This study designs and simulates weather parameters using MEMS technology with suitable characteristics for integration into a single chip for environment monitoring. The sensing and heating filament of the temperature sensor was designed using a thin film platinum resistor, examining its ability to experience stability, increase in resistivity, accuracy, and free-contamination. The temperature sensing and heating element are based on platinum RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) with meander shape and aluminum as the bonding pad connecting the sensor to the external circuit. A capacitive humidity sensor is implemented in consolidation with a piezoresistive pressure sensor with a square membrane. The capacitive humidity sensor with hole pattern at the upper plate and a polyimide serves as water absorbent sandwiched between the electrodes. The simulation analysis was conducted using finite element analysis in COMSOL Multiphysics version 6.0. It was observed that the temperature increases from -100oC to - 20oC, and 10oC to 50oC respectively as a result of deviation in relative humidity in the troposphere, and atmosphere. The average changes in capacitances were found at 0.0713/%RH, while the pressure was examined to vary from 1050hPa to 5hPa in a step of 200hPa with a sensitivity of 11.50mv/bar. © 2024 IEEE.

Improved resistance to digital converter (RDC) for a low-value resistive sensor with lead resistance compensation is presented. The proposed scheme is based on the dual-slope ADC with three switches and a diode. It completes measurement in one charging-discharging cycle only, hence it provides improvement to existing RDCs, where lead compensation is not available. Moreover, it is faster compared to existing direct microcontroller interfaces (DMI) where 2 or 3 charging-discharging cycles are required. The scheme works by connecting the resistive sensor to the input terminal of the integrator of the dual-slope ADC. In the charging path (or mode), sensor resistance is present along with lead resistance;and in discharging path, sensor resistance is bypassed, and only lead resistance is there. The difference between the RC time constant during these two modes is used to find the sensor resistance. The diode is used to turn on a switch for bypassing the resistive sensor. The diode voltage drop is not there in the charging and discharging path, which is another novelty. The scheme works with low-value resistive sensors (≈ 100 Ω), a feature not found in existing RDCs. The hardware prototype of the proposed scheme on the breadboard shows a maximum error of ±0.87 % in the range of 100 Ω to 180 Ω. © 2022 IEEE.

Design and analysis of a slotted planar antenna with a parasitic ring patch for efficient 5G microwave applications is presented. The antenna design aims to strike a balance between complexity and size efficiency. Its front side features a rectangular patch at the center, comprising L-shaped, T-shaped, and inverse T-shaped elements, alongside four parasitic rings on top. The central feed utilizes a 50-ohm strip line connected to a microstrip line. On the back side, the antenna incorporates three parasitic rings on top, four horizontal strips arranged in an increasing order, and a ground plane with a small rectangular slot. To evaluate its performance, the antenna is simulated using CST Microwave Studio on an FR-4 substrate with overall dimensions measuring 13 × 15 × 1.5 mm3. The results demonstrate an impressive impedance bandwidth of 60.8% and a return loss of –28 dB within the frequency range of 3.2–6 GHz, with a central frequency of 4.6 GHz. Throughout its operational range, the radiation patterns remain constant, exhibiting stable polar patterns and efficient performance with a wide gain of 4.81 dBi and an efficiency of 82%;the proposed antenna proves to be suitable for 5G microwave applications. © 2025 by Begell House, Inc.

This paper's endeavor is concentrated primarily aiding insomniacs. The importance of accomplishing the work is critical since insomnia is a common sleep condition that stops people from sleeping and therefore is common in today's society. Because of its chronic nature, insomnia is connected to a considerable deterioration in an individual's quality of life. The system is powered via Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. The goal of this system is to increase the number of encounters with these individuals as they get more sad and anxious. So, essentially, a friendly Chat Bot is created to better understand and treat insomniacs. The algorithm, how it works, and why it has to be implemented are briefly discussed in the paper. © 2022 IEEE.

Educational institutions have alumni data regarding their job roles, departments, companies, etc. Using this data and applying different clustering and classifying techniques, useful insights can be obtained such as the sectors which have highest intake, departments where most of the students from a particular institution are working, etc. The information would also be used by the institutions in designing the curriculum and academic planning. Current students can use the classified data for their preparations. This paper presents a classification model for an Alumni job role data, mentioning the different clustering techniques such as Agglomerative Clustering, Machine Learning algorithms for data classification such as K-Nearest neighbors, Support Vector Machine, etc. © 2022 IEEE.

In this modern era of technology, still conventional methods (human and trained dogs) are being used to find and rescue the victims, who are buried under the rubble after natural or human-made destruction. Offering a revolutionary solution, this robot outperforms traditional methods of searching for individuals during rescue operations. Another key initiative is the integration of IoT technologies, which will facilitate communications and data exchange. These rescue efforts come with significant risks for both rescuers and the victims aim to save. Compared to current methods, this robot performs exceptionally well in locating people during rescue missions. Its main advantage lies in its incorporation of advanced sensors, particularly those capable of detecting body heat and infrared signals. This technological enhancement allows the robot to identify individuals even in challenging conditions, such as darkness, smoke, or clutter, where regular cameras struggle. © 2024 IEEE.

Exploring efficient transition-metal-based electrocatalysts is critical for the wide application of electrochemical hydrogen generation *** the phase displays prominent influence on their performance,it remains a major challenge to achieve phase regulation in the same synthesis method and elucidate the intrinsic relationship between the phase and ***,we developed a sulfur induced electrodeposition strategy to achieve the precise phase regulation of nickel-based materials from Ni(OH)_(2)to Ni and Ni_(3)S_(2).S atoms can be introduced into Ni and Ni(OH)_(2)due to sulfur inducement,and the S proportion is finely controlled via changing the deposition ***,the obtained S-Ni catalyst displays enhanced hydrogen evolution activity with an ultralow overpotential of 27 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2),which is superior to the S-Ni(OH)_(2),Ni_(3)S_(2),and even Pt/*** functional theory(DFT)calculations disclose the S-Ni catalyst exhibits optimal charge state and local coordination,remarkably optimizing the water adsorption and Ni-H^(*)binding *** work provides new insights into phase regulation in electrodeposition and an understanding of the intrinsic relationship between phase and activity.

This paper presents the development of a radio frequency (RF)-based energy harvesting module for passive sensing, enabling wearable devices for measuring human physiological parameters. A compact meandered antenna was designed in Ansys, HFSS software to harvest RF energy at an operating frequency of 915 MHz UHF region. An LC based impedance matching network was designed to match the impedance of an antenna with a single stage rectification circuit in ADS software. The harvesting module, which is the combination of antenna and rectification circuit was fabricated and tested with in-house developed low-cost photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor. The lab-scale results are observed to be promising in developing a compact full-scale passive wireless sensor for monitoring physiological parameters. © 2023 IEEE.
