The greenhouse is a complex nonlinear system, which provides a suitable growing environment for plants. Realizing a comprehensive control for such systems is more challenging in the premise of the presence of model parameter uncertainties and variable time delay. This work presents, develops, and tests the methodology entrenched from the computational inspiration of the biologic immune concept. Mostly, in contention to the widely used classical approach of greenhouse control, an essential facet of the bioinspired algorithm is integrated that synergizes its strength. In this work, the study considers proportional integral and pseudo-derivative-feedback controllers and the artificial immune feature supplements it for the proposal of a new unifying control framework. The non-intelligent techniques are more classical, whereas intelligent techniques involving resistant feature is still relatively new to the control arena. The main distinguishing feature is the superficial resemblance to the conventional controller, but it is inherently more flexible and sophisticated and can exploit the power of heuristics. To deal with the system realistically and to ensure robustness, the Kharitonov theorem is used to synthesize the controller by elucidating the relationship between coefficient perturbations, set of test eight specially constructed vortex polynomials and its stability. Further, Hardware in Loop simulation is performed to verify the performance near physical operating conditions and the results validate the efficacy of the proposed controller frameworks with improvement in dynamic performance and robustness. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

Anaerobic digestion is a wastewater treatment method that utilizes bacterial decomposition to convert organic matter into biogas, which provides both environmental and economic benefits. However, controlling biogas production in anaerobic digestion systems poses significant challenges due to the complexity and non-linearity of the digestion process. This study explores the application of model-free predictive control for anaerobic digestion systems, utilizing only inputoutput data without using mathematical models as in conventional control approaches. Previous research has demonstrated the applicability of this approach for nonlinear systems, particularly in multi-input, multi-output nonlinear systems. In this study extends the methodology to controlling in methane production of anaerobic digestion systems, evaluating its effectiveness through numerical simulations. © 2025 The Society of Instrument and control Engineers.

Solar energy conversion to thermal energy has enormous potential for meeting the need for heat energy in a variety of applications. A parabolic trough solar collector (PTSC) has proven to be effective in solar to thermal conversion. Installing a PTSC to service a specific application necessitates a large setup and significant cost, so it would be beneficial if such system analytically tested and optimized beforehand. As a result, the study relating to finding the options that might assist in improving the PTSC performance becomes critical. Modelling the PTSC is one such useful way that can assess it and suggest possible changes. Thus, surveying the literature in this area becomes equally important. This study attempts to explore the potential of dynamic modelling of PTSC's and its control mechanisms. A summary of the prospects for PTSC dynamic modelling is offered, a simplified basis is given to reader by covering the fundamentals of modelling methodologies, as well as the associated research that go along with them. Further, PTSC control components and improvements are investigated. Relevant discussion about the possibilities and limitations are provided, future scopes are also included. © 2023

The paper aims to develop an innovative and robust control system for stabilizing an inverted pendulum using a neural network controller. This combines principles of control theory with the power of artificial intelligence to address the complex and dynamic nature of the inverted pendulum problem. The controller used here is neural network model predictive controller. The data obtained from the plant model is used to train the neural network. Various numbers of hidden layers were given and their behaviour was analyzed and the one with the minimum error was chosen. The controller is trained to produce a result with the least amount of error by providing the reference signal and the error value as inputs. After the successful training, the neural network controller stabilizes the inverted pendulum model. © 2024 IEEE.

Since the evolution of the first reliable antilock braking system in 1970, research society has been experimenting with different control strategies that can be utilized for the performance enhancement of this control system. The main goal of an antilock braking system is to provide the stability and steerability to the vehicle with minimum stopping distance during braking. As this system is highly non-linear with good number of uncertainties, a lot of control strategies have been implemented on it. This paper provides a critical review of some of these strategies and gives a brief reference to the improvements made in the braking system to be utilized in antilock braking system. In conclusion the paper discusses the advantages and drawbacks of these control systems and tends to provide the future scope of antilock braking system with these strategies. © 2022

Active control of railway vehicle suspension using PID controller with pole placement technique

With the advancement of technology in high-speed railway vehicles, ride comfort must be taken care of, which can be accomplished by employing effective vibration control techniques. Hence, this study focuses on the development of effective controllers which mitigate the vibration level and improves the ride quality of railway vehicle. A full-scale railway vehicle dynamic model of twenty-seven degrees of freedom with rail wheel contact and active suspension has been introduced. The required amount of optimum force for the active suspension has been achieved using a Proportional-Integral-Derivative controller tuned with the pole placement method. The performance of the active suspension system on the body's displacement, acceleration, and suspension deflection is evaluated in the time domain under the periodic track irregularities. The system's characteristics and control ability are discussed by analyzing the responses regarding percentage overshoots and settling time. From the simulations, it is found that the proposed control schemes reduce the overshoot to a more significant extent and consequently have a positive effect on improving the ride quality of railway vehicles. © 2023

To counteract unhealthy eating habits among the younger generation, a novel and economical AI-powered framework has been developed to serve as a virtual nutritionist and nutrition counsellor. The system uses machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing to provide personalized nutrition plans via an easy-to-use online application. It generates tailored meal plans that consider user preferences, allergies, and meal times by calculating Body Mass Index (BMI) based on user input. In addition to blog links and tailored training regimens (enhanced by the LLM3 model trained on a Kaggle gym dataset), a feedback mechanism allows for continuous optimization. Real-time food classification uses VGG16 and ResNet deep learning models to detect damaged or harmful foods and send out alerts for unsuitable foods. Additionally, integration with Google Maps and KNN helps users locate nearby dietitians, fostering better access to professional guidance. These comprehensive improvements significantly contribute to maintaining a good diet. © 2024 IEEE.

In today's fast-paced and demanding work culture, proper posture is essential for good health and well-being. This is particularly true for India's growing IT sector, where employees spend long hours sitting at desks. This paper presents an innovative and low-cost IoT solution that uses pressure distribution statistics gathered from three FSR sensors positioned on the chair's sitting and back sections to monitor body posture. The collected data is transmitted through a NodeMCU and stored in a Firebase database, which identifies the standard sitting posture of the shoulder blades and lower thighs. If the system detects incorrect posture, the FSR sensor immediately alerts the user via a Flutter app on their smartphone. This not only helps employees maintain a healthy posture, but also benefits the elderly and mobility-disabled individuals. © 2023 IEEE.

Real-time information regarding buses is made available to passengers via the GPS and GSM-based Real-Time Bus Monitoring system, which aims to enhance public transportation. The system uses GPS and GSM technologies to track the location and estimated arrival time of buses and transmit this information to commuters’ mobile devices. This technology addresses the common problem of long waiting times at bus stops and the uncertainty of bus arrival times. The system's benefits are numerous, including the ability to reduce waiting times, optimize bus routes, and reduce traffic congestion. Commuters can track the arrival times of their buses and make informed decisions about their travel plans, which can save them time and effort. The system can also assist transportation authorities in making decisions about bus routes and improving the overall efficiency of public transportation. Moreover, the system's effectiveness can be enhanced through the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence techniques. By analyzing data on bus ridership and travel patterns, transportation authorities can identify areas of high demand and adjust bus schedules and routes accordingly. Ciprofloxacin (CIP) is an extensively used broad-spectrum, fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for treating diverse bacterial infections. Effluent treatment plants (ETPs) worldwide lack technologies to detect or remediate antibiotics. CIP reaches the aquatic phase primarily due to inappropriate disposal practices, lack of point-of-use sensing, and preloaded activated charcoal filter at ETPs. The co-existence of bacteria and CIP in such aqueous pools has promoted fluoroquinolone resistance in bacteria and should be minimized. The worldwide accepted standard detection methodologies for the detection of CIP are high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, which are lab-based, require state-of-the-art equipment, and are expensive. Hence, it is difficult to integrate them for on-site monitoring. Further, the current remediation technologies like conventional sludge-treatment techniques fail to remove antibiotics such as CIP. Several point-of-use technologies for the detection of CIP are being investigated. These typically involve the development of electrochemical sensors where substrates, modifiers, biorecognition elements, and their chemistries are designed and optimized to enable robust, point-of-use detection of CIP. Similarly, remediation techniques like adsorption, membrane filtration, ion exchange, photocatalysis, ozonation, oxidation by Fenton’s reagent, and bioremediation are explored, but their onsite use is limited. The use of these sensing and remediation technologies in tandem is possibly the only way the issues related to antimicrobial resistance may be effectively tackled. This article provides a focused critical review on the recent advances in the development of such technologies, laying out the prospects and perspectives of their synergistic use to curb the menace of AMR and preserve antibiotics. © The Author(s) 2025.
