Recently, the platform economy allows enterprises to collaborate with business partners and provide additional channels for various parties. E-commerce platforms have become integral channels for connecting suppliers with consumers. In the platform economy, agency selling and reselling are two predominant sales models that often coexist for the same product types, resulting in a competitive relationship. This study analyzes transaction data for 30,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) provided by the Chinese e-commerce platforms over one month. We employ three models to compare the sales quantity and profits of manufacturers and online platforms and to identify the most efficient mode for stakeholders based on the model establishment and empirical evidence. Our findings suggest that apart from the existing channel to provide products to customers, manufacturers enter the platform which will increase the profit of platform operators. On the other hand, platform operators may also affect the profit of the manufacturers. © 2023 IEEE.

Many process variables in chemical production have distributed characteristics, and traditional hardware and offline measurements to monitor these distributed variables cannot meet the requirements of modern production. As an alternative to hardware measurements, soft sensors are increasingly used in the process industries. In order to realize online monitoring of distributed process outputs, a soft sensor model based on just-in-time kernel learning (JKL) is developed in this paper. Furthermore, for the prediction error of the model, dynamic data reconciliation (DDR) is proposed to improve the prediction results of the JKL model. DDR integrates inaccurate measurement information and model prediction information, and uses the Bayesian formula to obtain the optimal estimated outputs. Finally, DDR is used to improve the molecular weight distribution (MWD) prediction results in polymerization processes to verify its effectiveness. The results show that the proposed method can further improve the accuracy of the predicted outputs of the JKL models.

As one of the most promising power generation methods, effective forecast of wind power generation for uncertain environment contributes to the planning and operation of power systems. In this work, the long short-term memory (LSTM) network is developed for wind power forecasting. Then, a dynamic data reconciliation (DDR) method is proposed for suppressing sensor noise and improve the forecasting performance. LSTM extends the recurrent neural networks (RNN) through gate functions, which is a popular RNN variant with state memory. However, the modeling datasets with Gaussian (or non-Gaussian) sensor noise may degrade the expected performance of LSTM. The proposed DDR performs Bayesian estimation of the real information by extracting useful parts of the two process-related information, and the relatively accurate data obtained from DDR is used to improve the accuracy of modeling. Experimental results verify that the LSTM model with DDR is less affected by Gaussian or non-Gaussian sensor noise, showing a better wind power forecasting performance.

Carbon Reduction Performance of Inter-Regional Uhvdc Renewable Power Transmission Projects in China from 2016 to 2021

Renewable energy is the cornerstone to the decarbonization of the power system, whereas inter-regional power transmission accelerates renewable energy integration. Build on a previous assessment of material and thus emissions cost of the UHVDC renewable transmission infrastructure in China, here we evaluate the actual emission gains of the 17 UHVDC projects during 13th Five Year Plan. Results showed that, the renewable power transmitted through the UHVDC projects contributed a net reduction of 654.9 Mt CO2, but with a declining annual share. Six non-hydro power transmission projects actually induced additional emission costs, counterbalancing 8.23% of the total emission gains, due to the low renewable penetration rates and relatively high thermal power carbon intensity in the exporting regions. These projects need to either reduce thermal power emission factor by 4.3% to 36.9%, or to increase renewable energy above 37.1% to achieve net-zero emissions, and some optimization strategies are provided. © 2023, The Authors. In this work, SiO2 core-shell spheres with a dendritic pore structure were used as chromatographic support and TiO2 was coated into the pores of the SiO2@dSiO2 shell using tetrabutyl orthotitanate (TBOT) as the titanium source. By simply prolonging the reaction time, a TiO2 layer with a uniform and controllable thickness was obtained on the surface of SiO2 core-shell spheres by Ostwald ripening. The thickness of the TiO2 layer can be achieved by either controlling the reaction time or controlling the amount of TBOT. When the concentration of TBOT was 0.06 mol L-1, the thickness of the TiO2 layer can be tuned from 15 to about 44 nm by changing the reaction time. When the concentration of TBOT was 0.08 mol L-1, the thickness of the TiO2 layer can be tuned from 21 to about 71 nm by changing the reaction time. C18-derived core-shell spheres with a TiO2 layer thicknesses of 40 nm (C18-SST-0.5-60) and 70 nm (C18-SST-0.7-30) were used as packings to evaluate the effect of TiO2 layer thickness on the chromatographic separation performance. The separation performance of C18-SST-0.5-60 was better than that of C18-SST-0.7-30. The separation efficiency of C18-SST-0.5-60 and C18-SST-0.7-30 for fluorene was 115112 plates m-1 and 83189 plates m-1, respectively. The columns were also used for the separation of basic, acidic and nucleoside mixtures. Both TiO2-coated core-shell packings showed good peak symmetry for basic samples, with peak asymmetry factors below 1.11. The relative standard deviations of the retention time of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and anilines for intraday, interday and column-to-column variation were all lower than 6%. The results demonstrate that the TiO2 based stationary phase possesses great potential for high performance liquid chromatographic separation. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

When the amount of TBOT is 0.7 mL (0.08 mol L-1), the thickness of the TiO2 layer can be tunable from 21 to about 71 nm by changing the reaction time. C18-derived core-shell spheres with TiO2 layer thicknesses of 40 nm (C18-S@S@TiO2-0.5-60) and 70 nm (C18-S@S@TiO2-0.7-30) were prepared under the conditions of 0.5 mL TBOT for 60 min reaction time and 0.7 mL TBOT for 0.5 h reaction time, respectively. They were used as packings to evaluate the effect of TiO2 layer thickness on chromatographic separation performance. The separation performance of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.5-60 is better than that of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.7-30. The separation efficiency of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.5-60 to fluorene is 115112 plates m-1, and that of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.7-30 is 83189 plates m-1. The two TiO2-modified core-shell packings have good peak symmetry for basic samples, and the asymmetry factors are both less than 1.11. However, the column efficiency of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.5-60 is higher than that of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.7-30. The separation efficiency of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.5-60 for N, N-dimethylaniline is 46714 plates m-1, while that of C18-S@S@TiO2-0.7-30 is only 34685 plates m-1. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the advanced oxidation process (AOPs) induced by sodium percarbonate (SPC), reactive oxygen species (ROS) can be scavenged by a large amount of dissolved Fe(II) released within a short time. To address this issue, a slow-release Fe(II) process is proposed in this study, thereby enhancing the degradation of contaminants. SPC/Fe(III)/amorphous boron (B) and SPC/Fe(III)/citric acid (CA) procedures were employed to remove polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), with B as the reductant and CA as the chelator. Fluoranthene (FLT) removal in SPC/Fe(III)/B process contributed to HO•, while HO• and O2⁻• were responsible for FLT degradation via SPC/Fe(III)/CA system. SPC/Fe(III)/CA system exhibits more adaptability to intricate water quality circumstances compared to SPC/Fe(III)/B system. The bio-toxicity of FLT and their degradation intermediates was evaluated via the Toxicity Estimation Software Tool (T.E.S.T.), revealing a reduction in oral rat LD50, developmental toxicity, mutagenicity, and bioconcentration factor of the degradation intermediates relative to FLT. Both amorphous B- or CA-assisted SPC/Fe(III) processes were shown to be eco-friendly through luminosity inhibition tests with Vibrio fischeri. Experiments on soil slurry revealed that SPC/Fe(III)/CA system was feasible for the removal of complex PAHs, directing the SPC-induced AOPs process for the remediation of PAHs contaminated soils and groundwater.

A preliminary study on the impact of drying treatments on the H and O isotopic compositions of wheat noodles with different gluten-to-starch ratios

Stable hydrogen (δ 2 H) and oxygen (δ 18 O) isotopic ratios are key in wheat authentication, but the effects of formulation and drying processes on these ratios remain unclear. This study investigated how gluten-to-starch ratios, drying methods, and drying time influence δ 2 H and δ 18 O in noodles. Eight noodle formulations and five drying methods were used, and 960 noodle samples were measured. Results showed gluten-to-starch ratio significantly affected δ 2 H, with higher gluten contents (55 %–100 %) causing greater variation. Traditional drying methods (T40, T60, T80) yielded higher δ 2 H and δ 18 O values than industrial stepwise drying (I30, I40), indicating stronger isotope fractionation. High-temperature drying, especially T80, led to notable shifts in isotopic ratios, particularly in gluten-rich formulations. Although drying time had no statistically significant overall effect, δ 2 H and δ 18 O increased under certain conditions but stabilized after 240 min. In view of product authentication, for low-temperature dried noodles, the δ 2 H and δ 18 O isotopic ratios can be considered relatively stable, but at higher temperature drying, corrections to compensate for the drying effects are required.
